Favorite face moisturizers?
What are your favorite face moisturizers/creams? I'm looking to change up my skincare routine and start using an anti aging product with SPF in it. What are some good products?
Also, I got a few gift cards for my birthday and just picked up a couple products from some stores: Tatcha Dewy Skin Creme and their rice wash, as well as Aveda's Intense Hydrator. Anyone have experience with those? I don't think either has SPF but since I had gift cards to a couple places so I just bought them to check out.
Thanks ladies 😊

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
Have not tried those brands. I recomend getting a facial at a med spa and getting them to chose stuff for you something like obaji. Get Retin A in your routine. I don't find most department store stuff good just full of fragrance. But Shisedo has good skincare with lots of patents.
I just use Retin A and Ceravae loition. They have one with Spf 30. Lots of Derms recommend it too.

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
What's your skin type, OP? I highly recommend Dr. Dray's videos on YouTube - she's a board-certified dermatologist who will save you a lot of money by guiding you in the right direction. Her voice drove me crazy at first, but she's really grown on me. She gives out dermatologist-level information for free. Every skincare video she has is packed with info.
Usually if you search for something like "dr dray moisturizers," for example, you'll find a video pertinent to your needs.
I think relying on what works for random people on the internet, when it comes to skincare, will just end up driving you nuts and potentially waste a lot of your money (we all have different skin types and preferences).

Exactly. A legitimate active like tretinoin + basic moisturizers and SPFs will take you a million times farther than a $400 face cream. Personally, I'm a recovering skincare junkie... really stripping down my products currently.
If you don't have a doctor or dermatologist, they can prescribe tretinoin on the internet now (e.g. Agency, Curology).
Vanicream, cerave, cetaphil, and avene make great, basic moisturizers that will moisturize without causing irritation. Definitely search for Dr. Dray's recommendations for your skin type.
And i think Asian SPFs can't be beat - no white cast, no stinging, gorgeous formulations (research on YouTube, purchase on yesstyle.com or Amazon).

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
Thanks, I will check it out.
I haven't used the intense hydrator from Aveda yet, but the Tacha Dewy Skin Cream is great so far. My skin already looks much better. The only thing I don't like about it is it has a fragrance and I prefer fragrance free.
It doesn't have SPF so I'm just going to incorporate it into my routine somehow. If I continue with the Tacha (as opposed to getting a moisturizer that already has SPF in it), I'll just put on SPF as well.
I'm also going to look into some tinted moisturizers and BB creams.

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
^I love tinted moisturiser. I usually wear that (Laura Mercier) and a dab of concealer where needed, instead of foundation - or I mix foundation with moisuriser to give a BB cream kind of look.
Haven't tried any BB creams except one by Vapour Beauty that is now discontinued.
I really like Aveda hair products but wasn't keen when I tried some of the skin stuff years ago, personally.

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
I love the Paula's Choice moisturizers. I did try everything out there, they are the only one that kept my face clear.
I used to like their treatments too, but they got way too expensive, so I switched to The Ordinary and I am sooo happy for it. Maybe I'll try The Ordinary moisturizers too...

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
I'm using the Glow Recipe watermelon moisturizer and I like it. It's oil-free which is good for my acne-prone skin, and it's lightweight. Really refreshing and smells good too. The only downside is that it's expensive for the amount of product that you get.

I use Now Solutions Vitamin D3 cream

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
I use korean ones! by Saem now. They call them toners, but they moisturize in fact.
They refresh and moisturize so good. Actually they require serum+crem after applying according to the steps of korean facial care, but I skip these. I am so used to them. ;D

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
Back with a detailed comment.
In the past 2 weeks I started to slowly introduce the Ordinary serums. I bought 4:
- Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Oil Control Serum
- Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum
- AHA 30% + BHA 2% Exfoliating Peeling Solution
- Retinol 1% in Squalane
I started with Niacinamide one, last week, then slowly introduced Hyaluronic acid this week. Didn't have problems so far and my skin looks good. I have recently read that the Hyaluronic acid one must be applied on wet skin, I had no idea so I applied it on dry skin. Will do it from now.
Sunday I will try the Exfoliating solution and from next week I will introduce the Retinol 1-2 times a week.
I need to establish a system on how to combine them effectively and when to apply, because I plan to add the glycolic acid toner and Vitamin C too, from next month.
I am so fucking happy that I spent like $50 on all of those, instead of probably $300 if I bought from Paula's Choice. I will forever be grateful to PC, because it got me rid of acne, only because I used their face moisturizers and serums, but their prices are insane now. I will keep buying the SPF moisturizer tho and the Clear regular face moisturizer. But that's it. For serums and treatments, I definitely go The Ordinary.

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
I use Paula's Choice with SPF for daytime and ELF for night.

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
I’m also obsessed with Paulas Choice, all her stuff is created with science in mind, making the ingredients she chooses top notch. I go on her website too to see which products she approves of…other good moisturizers are Cetaphil’s SPF day moisturizer (not too expensive either) and Kylie Skin’s regular face moisturizer (it’s actually really good!). I also like to use Ren Skincare’s perfect canvas face oil to use over my moisturizer (makes my skin glow!)

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
I loved the Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream even though it had fragrance. It felt amazing and luxurious on my skin.
However, I real want something with SPF that's really healthy and I think I found that with EltaMD SPF 46. It's not expensive either, so I think I'm gonna pick some up tomorrow. I still need a night time moisturizer, and might just use Cerave PM facial lotion...

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
For anyone who has dry skin, sealing your skincare in at night with the Cerave healing ointment is a total game changer. Before discovering that stuff, no matter what moisturizer i used, I'd always awaken with my moisturizer dried up, leaving fine lines to peek out. Now, i finish my nighttime routine with that petrolatum product, and i wake up with dewy, glowing skin.
I do my normal nighttime skincare routine, including toner, essence (just to add moisture to the skin before trapping it in), tretinoin, and moisturizer, and then warm the ointment up in my hands and apply a thin layer everywhere. Make sure you've fully cleaned your face at night before doing this, as you don't want to trap contaminants from your day under the ointment.
I've stopped washing my face in the morning since the healing ointment is a reliable barrier... i just rinse with warm water, pat dry, and apply my morning skincare.
I'm all about minimizing trans-epidermal water loss and improving my skin barrier these days.
I do not look cute going to bed, so if that's important to you, maybe skip this haha

Re: Favorite face moisturizers?
My daytime with SPF is the Neutrogena Hydrating with Hylauronic Acid and SPF50.
My nighttime is the Tatcha The Dewy Skin.
Bear in mind, I'm in my 40's-- the Tatcha may be a bit heavy for those of you who are younger or still dealing with acne.

I'm a bit younger but still loved The Dewy Skin Cream. I like my skin to still feel very soft upon waking up and the Tatcha cream did that. I'm out now (the jar I got was small, almost like a tester size), but I may re up. I'm going to buy a drugstore night cream/moisturizer since they're cheap and if I don't like it I'll switch back to the pricier stuff lol.
