Damn that looked like it was a hard ass smack!
I halfway think this was scripted and they both got paid to do this but if it was real …… I mean sometimes you just get tired of people publicly talking shit about you and they gotta learn the hard way not to go too far with the jokes n disrespect.
I also read somewhere that she had/has alopecia plus she looked really uncomfortable when he joked about her.
Personally, I think Will Smith wasn't in the wrong.Jada tried to hold her emotions but Will saw her in distress. I wish he could have waited until after the awards but I understand. Seems like a lapse in judgement at that moment.
Jokes are not funny to me at all when they're hurtful and insensitive. Intentional or not, that still doesn't excuse joking about people at their expense.
I can't disagree what Will Smith did because I don't know how I would have reacted because none of us really know or get to see how much Jada Pinkett Smith really struggled with having alopecia behind closed door like Will Smith does.
Some people brought up their open marriage, what the fuck does that have to do with this? Fuck y'all motherfuckers!
Chris Rock has not been funny for the past ten years. He did a whole documentary on black women's hair, so he definitely knew better. And that was a weak ass punch since Chris was not dropped on his ass.
You can not buy that kind of publicity for a show with a precipitously declining audience.
I'm glad he slapped his stupid ass for that verbal abusive bullshit comment. He's lucky that's all he got imo. I saw her face & she def looked extremely uncomfortable so ya he def deserved it. I mean you talk shit, you get hit... Just sayin.
What happened to Chris Rock? Should've brought Kevin Hart out instead.
I think the ONLY comedian that could pull a line like this and survived would be Ricky Gervais because it's considered on the lines of British humor (different than American comedy). And Ricky Gervais makes fun of everyone including himself. I woulda been so humiliated having a camera zoom in on my face while I was being publicly humiliated on tv for the world to watch.
I stopped watching Chris Rock a long time ago. You can be funny without being a bully.
I have so many thoughts on this.
I watched and was in total shock. You could hear the anger in Will's voice when he sat back down.
Yes he laughed at first but people often laugh when they're nervous/trying to play it cool.
And if you listened to his acceptance speech he alluded to just going along with Chris at first.
Honestly, I feel like both him and his wife talk too much. They've been WAY too public about their private lives. He's a superstar and has kinda become a laughing stock ever since the August Alsina situation. He knows this. And only God knows what happens behind closed doors between those two. Well, umm, not only God unfortunately but yeah...
Also this has to be said, Jada is problematic. I hate to be the one to blame the woman but she's toxic. When the whole August Alsina situation went down she took ZERO accountability and pretty much humiliated him on her show. I think he's a damn fool for continuing to stay in that relationship. She has little to no respect for him and it's obvious. She only respects his name and the clout she gets from being attached to him. And let's not forget the way she pretty much took advantage of August's mental health issues. I did find it suspect when she was posting pictures of him on instagram and referring to him as her "son". She's a predator.
Anyways, Will has attended how many award shows during his career and now after EVERYTHING he has been through he chooses this night (the night he's up for an oscar) to show out on live TV? It was Jada's influence plain and simple.
He also mentioned in a recent interview that Jada wouldn't let him get a divorce. Some people think that's sexy, I say it's toxic af.
As for the actual slap, i'm torn. I feel like Chris deserved it but damn on live TV though?? I felt embarrassed for Will and Chris. White America is praising Chris for his restraint and labeling Will a "thug" for acting out. I'd be surprised if Will survives this.
I just don't find Chris Rock funny (IMO, he's no D.L. Hughley...that's for sure!). I guess maybe I did like him when he was that zebra in Madagascar.
People are saying things like "Oh, stop being so sensitive. If a comedian is hosting, you should expect to get roasted." *Eye roll* Roasted...really? That joke was as dry as his chapped lips. Guess he's never heard of Carmex. He's got some nerve joking about the lovely Jada. She was clearly upset at the joke. Dude just isn't funny to me. I feel like a lot of the time when people laugh at his jokes, it's because he's shouting in that loud, obnoxious voice of his. Nails on a chalkboard to me.....
People on social media will look for every opportunity they can to bring up Jada and Will's open marriage, and express their disgust with Jada...as if their marriage/sex life should have ANYTHING to do with what happened the other evening. Smh.
Honestly if it were any other situation, I'd say yes once again the woman is to be blamed but in this situation?? Jada has proven to be problematic in so many ways. Do they not have a publicist or someone that can advise them?
lol @ chapped lips. His lips ARE always dry LOL.
She didn't deserve this disrespect at The Oscars while she's just out trying to enjoy the evening with her husband. Whether or not you consider her problematic is irrelevant. Now that Chris Rock is claiming he didn't know about her alopecia, I wonder if he apologized to Jada for the insensitive joke? Or if he just shrugged and said meh, fuck her feelings.
But it IS relevant because had it been him being mocked/roasted Jada would have been laughing her ass off and you know it.
i stand by Will. He was supporting his wife. However, I don't think Jada is worth losing his career over. She's just not. That's all i'm saying. Did Chris really say he didn't know she had alopecia? I haven't read that yet. Well if he didn't know, he didn't know.
Actually, no...I DON'T know that.
Yes, I Googled it earlier (I think I just typed in "Chris Rock...Jada...alopecia"), and quite a few different headlines popped up saying that Chris Rock claims he didn't know about her alopecia. Charlamagne tha God said on The Breakfast Club that he'd just spoken to Chris, who told him that he didn't know about the alopecia. So maybe when he made his lame, unoriginal G.I. Jane joke, he didn't know. I don't know. I just don't find that guy funny.
And I hardly think Will Smith is about to lose his career over THIS.
What goes on in their relationship is their business. Blaming Jada for Will's actions is just pure lunacy, and since when having a man who will fight for you become a bad thing? So toxic to blame women for men's bad actions. None of these comedians are Don Rickles who did insults with love and didn't hit below the belt.
Toxic men insult women and call it a joke is gross. He went for what he thought was an easy target who wouldn't fight back & found out the hard way, not such an easy mark. Watching other white male comedians on twitter & Instagram hate on Jada all day long and it is disgusting. It is racist, racist hate poring out all over social media towards Jada and Chris Rock opened that door for it.
People have gotten used to saying whatever they want on social media without any physical consequences. One of life's lessons is be careful of what you say & be respectful of others, or you just may get slapped or punched. Will punching him, probably saved Chris's career and he owes them an apology and a thank you.
I've had plenty of Italian boyfriends, and you simply did not disrespect women around them or you'd get knocked out.
I agree. I saw a lot of people saying that because Will's reaction was so overblown and out of character that it seemed like the result of a lot of pent up anger, that this incident was the straw that broke the camel's back. I do agree that him basically being completely emasculated all over social media for the last couple years is the cause of said pent up anger and I do agree that this is mostly thanks to Jada constantly spilling all their business. I don't see how everyone has interpreted what Jada shares into Will being a cuck though, they've had an open marriage for years and Will was linked to other women long before the Jada/August 'entanglement.' As far as Chris's joke being too cruel because of her having alopecia, I doubt he knew. I don't think most people stay up-to-date on Jada Pinkett Smith's health, I follow a lot of celeb gossip and I didn't even know.
Yikes I didn't know that. I was under the impression that she met him through him being friends with her son but that's even creepier.
