Yup his career is over.
^^I highly disagree.
Yeah, but, you kind of missed the point.
It is like if a pit bull bites you and you sue me believing that it is my dog, and that I was negligent in not keeping it confined in my backyard. I say, "It did not bite you! If it bite you, it was barely a nibble! And, it is not my dog." I am over-defending myself. I could just say it is not my dog. But, the harder I defend myself, the more it seems that it IS my dog.
Jada did not cheat on Will, they had an open marriage... and, they were separated at the time,... and, Will consented,... and, it wasn't a relationship, just an entanglement,... and,...
^^^Yeah but I don’t think their response echoes that. Jada said her and August had a relationship while they were on a break and thought their marriage was done at the time, Will said her and August had a relationship while they were on a break and thought their marriage was done at the time.
^^^ Well then, that is adultery. As a person that has been married more than 25 years, there have been multiple times that a big fight led to us taking a break and feeling like the marriage was 'done'. That is a time for clearing your head, deep reflection, weighing all the facts, and making a final decision (work harder to make it work or call it quits). It is not a time to hop into bed with someone new. Thank God neither my wife nor I exploited the break to screw someone new, like Jada did. If either one of us thought that a break gave us a pass for infidelity, we would not still be together.
His movies make money and that means more than any award. His career is far from over, he is box office gold. Plus there are so many movies, tv show being created on all kinds of channels. It is easy for even DList actors to get acting jobs. So there is no way his career is over.
And if all else fails, there is Dancing with the Stars. LOL
After all well known rapist still get acting jobs, pedophiles still get directing jobs so I hardly think one single slap could end a career. It is very difficult for an A list actor or director to become box office poison.
Well, Will seems to be okay with it. They got back together afterwards.
Well, again, Will said they thought that they were done and that 'she did her and he did him,' which I think is him implying that he had was 'adulterous' as well. Also during their Red Table Talk Will made a joke to her about how she was going to get her back for her and August, and she said something about how he had already done more than enough to get her back and he agreed, so it sounds like they're talking about his 'adultery' again. And again, Will has been linked with other women before the August incident so it still seems like you're going off of a completely inaccurate perception of their relationship. You're holding her to a way different standard than Will does.
Asking for sources is not about calling anyone out, it is not about lies either, it is about getting at the truth, lets face it everyone here has played the game of telephone, did you lie when you played? the truth gets distorted the more people it hops through, so might as well get closer to the source.Quote:
Believe it or not, I have a full life outside of this website. There’s no incentive for me to make something like that up.

Obviously, there was a lot more to Will's lashing out then just a stupid hair joke. Something has been eating up at him. My guess (it is just a guess) is that he heard that August's book is coming out and he felt the need to prove something BEFORE it is released. No doubt that the book will portray Will very negatively. When we read in the book that Will neglected Jada and did nothing to nurture or protect her, we will react like this: "No way, man! I saw Will punch Chris just for making a dumb hair joke about Jada! Will cried on stage and said his love of Jada makes him to crazy things! Will worships Jada! I can't believe anything in this book by August is true."
I think Genoveve posted a link that tried to do a better job at understanding his thought process, in his autobiography he stated basically that he felt inferior for not standing up to the women in his life, that he felt emasculated, I can certainly relate. That said I learned long ago that most women do not want neanderthal behavior that makes things worse, essentially descalation when possible (heckling, drowning out, changing the subject) not a slap...
People are reacting this way because he used physical violence, society has a clear line around this.
I think it's too early to say. Producers may decide it's not worth the risk to cast him. Sony has already put Bad Boys 4 on hold, and Netflix cancelled a project that Will Smith had been working on. They lost the director, but decided not to resume production.

It's not just a matter of there being one slap. It's also the fact that millions of people saw it, as well as Will cursing out Chris from his seat. One of the major reasons why Will became so popular is he's always come across as very likeable. He generally gets the "good guy" roles. A lot will also depend on if people still see him that way. Perhaps this whole thing will blow over after a couple months and he'll be able to resume his career, but it's also possible that many people won't forget what happened, and won't want to cast him or see his movies. At the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion, when the first Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert, reconciled with Will, she said calling a black woman "difficult" is the kiss of death in Hollywood. The question is, will producers see Will as "difficult" after this incident? It's possible producers may decide Will is worth the risk, based on how well his movies have done at the box office, and people will still continue to see his movies, but there is no way to know for sure. I think we'll have a better idea, once Sony decides whether or not to move forward with Bad Boys 4. If Sony decides to go through with it, and it does well at the box office, he'll most likely get his career back. If Sony decides to drop it, or it they release it and it's a box office flop, it could be very hard for Will to recover.
LOL. Some of you just don't get it.
Will Smith is black.
Will Smith cannot smack someone and get away with it because he's black.
He must be hanged. His career must be destroyed. His name must be tarnished.
If you think Will Smith's career is going to skate, just sit and watch. The biggest crime Will Smith committed on that stage was being black on a Sunday night.
Roman Polanski drugged and sodomized a child and Harvey Weinstein raped women in Hollywood for decades and white people didn't really give that much of a fuck.
Buuuut just go on youtube and read the comments. Where was this energy for Trump, Harvey, Roman and hell Allan whateverhisnamewas? White folks want Will Smith's head. Why? Because they care so much about Chris Rock? Nope! Because Will is black. He's now the perfect scapegoat.
If Will Smith simply shouted "GET MY WIFE'S NAME OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MOUTH" from his seat, I bet you money we'd have this exact same outrage. Why? Because he's black. Black people have to be perfect. Once you get up to that level of celebrity, yeah, your shit isn't allowed to stink. Will's old good boy personality isn't going to save him without one hell of a story.
At this point, the smartest thing he can do right now is divorce his witch of a wife and claim the devil made him do it. Anything else and his career as he knew it is over.
If this was Mark Wahlberg or some other white dude, we wouldn't still be talking about this. White people are very forgiving of white people. A white person apologizes it's awwww it's ok! we all make mistakes! When a black person apologizes, they're accused of being disingenuous.
Even Michelle Obama said it herself, she said when they were in the white house they knew they couldn't make one mistake. They had to literally be perfect. Will isn't done because of the slap, he's done because he's a black man in America.
Roman Polanski fled the United States to avoid going to prison. Bill Cosby is black. He drugged and raped women for decades, and white people didn't give a fuck.
If Will Smith's career takes a big hit, it will be because he walked up on stage and slapped a comedian, and then cursed him out from his seat in front of millions of people. That's the biggest factor. Not the color of his skin. If he had an altercation with Chris Rock at an after party, and there was no video, it probably wouldn't have been such a big deal. Tom Cruise is white, and at one time was probably the biggest movie star in the world. Then a freaky video of him came out, talking about Scientology, and during an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show, he jumped up and down on the sofa. His career never recovered from it. There is such a big difference between reading something in the paper, and seeing it on video or live on TV. Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby got away with their crimes for so long, because they kept them hidden.
Well, I would agree to an extent with your comments as to the general public. There is still a lot of racism in the USA and Trump stoked the fires of 'social resentment', a euphemism for racism/bigotry.
But, the Academy is made up of liberals who are, at least, trying to be less racist. As I said in my post, I think their utter ineptitude in how they handled the situation was because, they did not know how to handle black-on-black violence. I think a white guy who had done what Will did would have been arrested. Will's race made this a potential race-relations nightmare and they panicked. Do they take some action that could make things more volatile or should they let the black folks deal with it like its a family thing? The LAST thing on Earth they wanted was for this thing to make them look like racists. They gave him a standing ovation after the assault, for crying out loud!
It is important to point out that black people are as offended as white people by what Will did, maybe even more than white people. Remember, that the victim was black and black people have said that a slap is worst than a punch in the black community.
Also, just think about this - How would black people have reacted if a white guy had slapped Chris Rock?
Will will be fine. He has already checked into a mental clinic. Next year, he will appear on Oprah doing a mea culpa and talking about his come-to-Jesus transformation. After 5 years, the Academy will decide to lift their sanctions, because, of his good deeds, like the work his charities does with inner city kids and his new self-help book on anger management. Will Smith and Chris Rock will star in a few movie together and they will be BFFs.
From https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/jad...th?_rdc=1&_rdr -- Jada Pinkett Smith Breaks her silence to charge against Will Smith: "I DIDN'T DO IT, NOR WOULD I DO IT IN ANY WAY" In an interview with US Weekly, #JadaPinkettSmith spoke for the first time about the controversial slap in the face of her husband #WillSmith to #ChrisRock at the #Oscars gala because of a comedian's joke towards her. The also actress assured that "she is not a woman who needs protection", these were her words: "I never said that I needed his protection, it was in the heat of the action and he was the one who exaggerated everything, but I did not do it or I wouldn't do it anyway." Meanwhile, Will Smith is hospitalized in a prestigious mental clinic, which he entered voluntarily, to try to alleviate all the stress and discomfort that this situation has caused him.
Hahahaha! Thanks for the laugh. "Trying to be less racist" Perfectly stated.
The most dangerous thing about racism is once you're a racist, you can't really filter out when to be racist or not.
Racism doesn't only look like not recognizing black people for their work. It looks like not providing security for your black hosts.
Do you really think that if this were really Gervais they would've allowed Will Smith on the stage? Nope. He would've probably been tackled or shot dead.
If a white guy would've slapped Chris Rock, we wouldn't be talking about this. You'd hear all sorts of justifications about why chris deserved it. Chris would be demonized. There will be the usual black outrage. And then we'd forget about it.
Performative outrage among hollywood blacks are a thing. Heck I think Chris Rock talked about this during one of his stand up routines.
As for black people being more outraged about this, that's not true. Even in the private forums I frequent, most of the outrage is coming from white folks. Blacks are like he did what??? daaaaamn! and then you have the crop that are making jokes about it on tik tok. The only blacks who are truly outraged are hollywood blacks who are scared that Will Smith's conduct may have set their efforts to be recognized back. I've also heard from black men that it set "us" back. I don't agree but that's what I'm being told and have read.
Brilliant. Yup. I can totally see this happening.Quote:

The only thing is Chris would be wise to hold off on that movie for another 10 years.
His show tickets have soared. He's now being considered for movie roles. Everyone wants to talk to him.
And if he showed us anything that Sunday night it's that he knows how to play the game.
He's going to milk this thing for all it's worth before reconciling.
Are you serious? Bill Cosby? LOL.
Bill was well known as "America's dad" and made a career out of telling black men to pull their pants up.
Bill Cosby gets a pass from white people like Clarence Thomas gets a pass.
His wife was caught trying to meddle in our elections and not a single white person gives a fuck. Literally noone.
As for Tom Cruise, he's been putting out movies every 2-3 years as usual. He's still a megastar and has more money than he knows what to do with. But I agree with your second to last statement. It is very different to see things with your own yes versus reading it in the paper.
Doesn't matter. She doesn't get to make decisions alone. There's a board and the board has to vote. And they did. They decided collectively. It was also reported that some wanted to take his oscar away but they felt it wouldn't be right simply because Weinstein and Polanski kept theirs? lol. That part cracked me up. It's like they can't see that the punishment wouldn't have fit the "crime".
This is just another sad case of Scientology causing stupid things to happen in Los Angeles.
Cults are terrible.
Sorry, too damned many reports on this thread. I cleaned it up once already. Maybe after work tonight I will try that again.
