I think everyone misinterpreted what she said. They asked her for advice for “women in business,” not working women. Still a tactless answer and I couldn’t believe she managed to blow the rare instance of the public being on her side(because of the Kanye drama).
She said it seems like nobody wants to work these days.
I was wondering who exactly she was talking about? Like what made her say that?
That sounded like bitchy ass judgement. Not advice.
A different POV:

She should have kept her mouth shut. I actually like her but she has no clue how to have empathy for anyone not associated with herself.
She claims that it was taken out of context. The reporter publicly denied that.
Kim is currently being sued for not paying her household staff and denying them meal breaks.
They're tone-deaf.
I think haters are going to hate. This is a woman that was a laughing stock just a few years ago and now she’s built an empire. I don’t care what anyone says…let her talk her shit. She’s earned it. I used to find her and her family annoying but I admire how she has pretty much built a castle with the shit people have thrown at her. As for her comment, we all know it’s true. I work my ass off and didn’t take offense with that statement. I think people just want to be mad and this was one more person to project their misery onto.
Forgive my typos, don’t have time to edit.
What do I think?
Well I’d never take advice from Kim k on anything so I wouldn’t care what some random person said.
I also think her comment is hypocritical. Like the article mentions she was born into wealth so it’s easy for her to judge people and make blanket statements without realizing the reasons behind it. The pandemic had everyone on edge not wanting to risk their health for a few bucks.
People who reach a level of high career success aren’t out here working hard they are working smart and have their money and their assistants working for them.
Yes it’s great to have a good work ethic but if it’s going to cost you your health (possibly your life) then it’s not worth it especially if the pay is subpar which a lot of these entry level jobs are.
Maybe she can come up with a viable solution instead of judging people who are working class and doing the best they can.
I don’t know Kim’s situation but the assistants still have to get approval before cutting checks and the money has to be available.
Could be the assistants fault idk. But if they’re going to sue anyone it would be the person in charge who can pay the reparations
Kim is a very vapid person. It's really too bad because not all of her family seems so out of touch with reality.
She should stick to red carpets.
I'm so not hating, like I said, I admire her companies and legal work.
I watched their show for years.
I know she started selling on eBay while still in high school, & got the business model for the Dash stores, which is all awesome.
She got some walk on, & other roles in TV shows, etc
But that's just a rude blanket statement, she had to know that was going to provoke a strong reaction, maybe that was her point.
This is all true, but she is the boss and therefore the one accountable meanwhile she is bitching that people don’t work. People work for a financial reward. Her home is an all white art piece with 4 young children living in it. Her household staff WORK and she as the high roller is the one responsible. She has teams of people who work very hard everyday right in front of her eyes. Probably all the people besides friends and family are people who are at her beck and call everyday. That enables her to do her work, be successful and yes she works hard too.
How insulting to all those people in her day to day life.
*last news I heard of the lawsuit was that she was counter suing the workers something like 13k each, breaking the nda or some reason like that. So this is something she was aware of while making her comments. Unless you believe she has no knowledge of her legal matters as well.
I really hate gotcha culture, we all have unpopular thoughts and probably difficulty articulating them, also people want to put words in your mouth.
It is like we all forgot to debate what people mean, not what they say...
If she wants to articulate her argument in a long form essay and have this debate then I would definitely listen to her opinion, it seems so cliche that so many people immediately default to dismissing her argument because she is conventionally attractive and born to wealth.
That said I do disagree with the premise that workers are lazy, in the eternal battle between owner and worker I think workers have made a stronger argument overall.
Jeez, her 15 minutes isn't up yet?
Here's the clip of what she said:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q065V0795iE
Nurses that work 12 hours shifts
Parents that have to work multiple jobs just to support their children and families and put food on the table.
People that work 40+ hours a week just to get by
would like to have a word with Kim on 'get your fucking ass up and work." Kim is the epitome of glorified narcissism. She has so much with little to zero empathy.
She's so privileged and can do whatever she wanna do and buy whatever she wanna buy she should be little bit more magnanimous and less of cunt.
Kim says she contracted her household work to an outside vendor, and the vendor was responsible for paying the workers. Kim payed the vendor for the household services provided. That's her side of the story. We probably won't know what the truth is until they go to court, if they don't get this resolved by then. Something like that should be easy to prove.
Not to get too in the weeds with labor law but that is part of the problem and why they are suing her. They were improperly classified as independent contractors while acting as employees of the KWs. they were demanded to work for the household by their standard/hours/rules, denied legal breaks and not paid for hours worked-because they were treated as employees of them not of the vendor or independently.
For example it might look like the vendor get paid the day rate per worker, which would equal 8 hour days with a lunch break but the workers were told on the job that they had to work 10 hour no break, no one pays the workers for the difference.
Maybe Kim wasn't accurately reporting the amount of hours worked by the contractors. When I worked for a consulting firm, the client I worked for would document how many hours I worked for the week and send it to the firm, and the consulting firm would pay me, based on the amount of hours I worked.
the claims also include that she made them withhold 10% percent from their checks for tax purposes, and that they were the ones issuing the checks although not reliably. If those claims had been disproven I’m not sure why the case hasn’t been dismissed in the year since it’s been filled. Although it is certainly possible. I just see that they clearly were in charge of these workers schedule and duties and used the common tactic of using 3rd parties to achieve wage theft against those with the least ability to legally protect themselves.
