Women upset that men support sex workers
I just got across this thread on reddit and... wow... how women look down on women who choose to do sex work is astonishing. It made my blood boil, not gonna lie :O
Men's enthusiastic support of sex workers is the only unified pro-women effort from men I've ever witnessed in my life : FemaleDatingStrategy (reddit.com)

This is a debate I'll skip haha !
If these women don't want the $ from sex work or if it is "beneath" them it leaves more for the rest of us ha.

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
Yeah that subreddit is very extremist, they like to call themselves fourth wave feminists, but it just seems like second wave plus an air of supremacism.
They hate pretty much everyone and everything, so yeah that includes sex workers of all kinds.
This is them in a nutshell

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
The internet is a cesspool when it comes ideologies. Any group of traumatized people can come together and confirm each other’s beliefs and trauma. That’s fine-people have the right to free speech and to think what they want.
People need therapy and education when it comes to sex and gender. As a society, we have screwed up beliefs about gender and human sexuality.
I don’t care if people don’t like me or my work. Hate me all you want. Don’t buy sex or sell sex then, but don’t call it “feminism”.
My mom is the same way-why I don’t talk to her about sex work. As a so called feminist, she’s pretty negative when it comes to sex work.
For me feminism is supporting and empowering other women even if they live a life I don’t want it’s not judging, criticizing, and condemning.
I would call myself a humanist instead of a feminist. I think all humans deserve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as long as it does infringe on my rights.

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
I have some complicated mixed feelings about that subreddit. I learned a lot from it but I don’t go on there anymore because it’s too negative.
When I was a regular reader there for a while I still had to stay out of the threads about sex work. The top comments were always very misinformed, and more reasonable comments from first hand experience would be downvoted. Unless it was a comment from someone who’d had a bad experience with sex work because that fits their agenda.

Did their partners cheat on them with sex workers or did their partner have a porn addiction?
They are women that were traumatized by dating dynamics, they blame absolutely anyone and everyone but themselves.
They hate porn and sex work because of second wave reasons.
They hate ugly dudes, because of the halo theory on personality.
They hate poor dudes / cheapskates (well you girls do too :D).
They hate their friends because they may need emotional support.
They absolutely loathe pick mes, I don't mean doormats, I am talking any woman that practices liberal dating practices like having sex without long term commitment.

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
^^^i would say people in general have a problem on reflecting inwardly about perpetuating their own unhappiness and blaming others. Of course there our societal problems and injustices that need collective action and consciousness, but if you live in a Western society you have a lot freedom to live how you want.
I think the number one feminist issue is financial. If you hate sex work than focus on creating economic mobility for sex workers. But no it’s much easier to scapegoat sex workers than think of solutions that would actual help them.
Yeah. I would avoid garbage forums as much as possible. It’s very tempting to go down the forum rabbit hole, but even Oprah says she doesn’t look at the YouTube comments on her videos.
People are negative on the internet. It’s best to avoid haters as much as possible . I’m all for having healthy debate and enlightening conversations with people who think differently, but most people don’t want to have healthy dialogue, so it’s better to not engage with them as much as possible.

Yes, avoiding negativity death spirals in comment sections is an extremely important part of navigating the internet. Even more so echo chambers (where every alternative thought is banned) like that subreddit.
Diversifying where you spend your time online can also help you grow. Basically find places where you can get a different perspective.
I would not take their hatred of sex workers that personally, they really do hate everyone, they say that they are leeches, which is fine, except their definition of leeching is literally anyone that is not perfect and puts THEM on a pedestal.
You just have to laugh at their standards

This is unicorn territory, but it serves them an excuse to simply not date.

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
Let me guess...there are women spouting off that judgmental "Well I could never be a sex worker because I actually have respect for myself!" nonsense? LOL.....

Surprisingly it is worse, they are trying to "save" you, this is still couched in second/fourth wave feminism, honestly the sanctimonious crap is probably worse, I rather be hated by them, which I am as a normal guy.
That is their intent though, their actions are literally to cut everyone off, it is beyond just being single, it is about being completely alone and seeking each other in a negativity echo chamber.

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
The Buddhist response to any personal attack, “is that so?”
Women have a collective pain body from centuries of oppression. I don’t think we need to judge them for judging us. I wouldn’t pay too much attention them. It’s just their pain body and ego.

It is very cultish, anything that demands or tries to cajole you to cut off all contacts and relationships (except them of course) is a gigantic red flag.
Cutting someone off has to be a decision taken on a case by case basis, never wholesale.

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
lol I've seen that reddit before. I think a lot of women are jealous of sex workers tbh. I've had vanilla friends tell me the feel envious because they secretly wanted to try (stripping/camming/escorting) but they had a fear of being judged.

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
Yeah, that thread is good to read what others experience trough past relationship and learn a lesson from it. I came across some really good stories there, that made me somehow apreciate more what I have at home.
But... the level of toxicity and bitterness in some women in there, is crazy. They really think they are High Value Women, when... they are exactly the opposite. They talk about pick me-s, when they are the pick-me in person :))))))
Speaking of toxic groups, yeah I try to stay away too. Unfortunately, really good subreddits are being poisoned with toxic people and all I can do is scroll past hateful stuff and misinformation. I am a big reader of intermittent fasting, OMAD, 1200 calories (is what I am currently doing), volume eating, meal prep, weight loss subreddits and... woah. Really useful and I've learned a lot from it, but it's full of people with eating disorders, giving advice, or worse, asking for advice and then telling you they ain't following it, they still do what they think.
Anyway, this post was fun to share, since it's about our industry :)))

Looks like they are completely leaving reddit, so it doesn't really matter I guess lol

Personally I am from the old school and we never used the term "sex worker" if we were referring to dancers. I have no problems with escorts doing what they do, but this isn't a phrase I use because it can get confusing. Maybe this is because I am Canadian..
I can't see that reddit it's locked for some reason, but in regards to the whole "I have respect for myself" nonsense..do they really? I am like most people who worked entry level jobs when I was college age.
Giving up my time, being talked to down to by customers, being paid minimum wage, no stat holidays off, not being able to afford my LIFE no matter how hard I worked, having to choose between tires on my old car and the dentist ..and going in again and again because it was the only type of job that most 20 years olds have access too.. THAT is disrespecting yourself.
I had some bad experiences in dancing due to shit management but in general, I made 5-10X more, could leave when I wanted, wasn't FORCED to deal with or be polite to people who were rude to me, could take time off whenever I wanted and never feared for my job security.
Which scenario is lacking in "self respect"? to me the obvious answer is the first one (which was a job in a high end lingerie boutique.. I can only imagine working in fast food or waste management for example)

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
^ I would not get into with these types of women.
A good response is " ok do whatever works for you " .
Meanwhile ..... I will collect $$$$ while I can. :)
-
Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
Honestly .... having a good chunk of the female population boring and closed minded is kind of why the guys come see us. :)

You have more patience than me lol... I try not to, and in general keep my social circle pretty small so I don't have to.
But this is my general go to comeback.. it usually shuts them up.
They should look up the definition of self respect and understand the meaning before running their mouth.

Re: Women upset that men support sex workers
I said it before and I will say it again-
Main Stream Media pushes the image of sex workers as victims and addicts.
NO ONE cares about the sex workers who are functional and boring. It's not provocative to people.
