So in other words...
She believes that feminism has empowered women to do what they want, but really only those things she finds personally acceptable. Because in this poster's view, if a woman actually chooses to do sex work, it can only be because she is too dumb to figure out that she's actually being exploited. This poster's view of feminism is so narrow that it excludes any empowerment which involves a woman celebrating and even profiting from her own body.
Sadly, for a long time, this version of "feminism" was prevalent in the political landscapes of a number of states. Many people assume that bible thumping red states are the greatest enemy of strip clubs, but in places like MA, VA and DC, this form of feminism is reflected heavily in strict regionwide contact and/or clothing rules. Some of the northeast blue states were also, for many years, among the most aggressive in the country in going after sex workers.
Views like this are why it's so difficult to get government out of regulating transactions between consenting adults. Extremists on either side of the political aisle hate sex work of all types, the right often for religious and morality reasons and the left for the objectification and victimization beliefs amply outlined by this poster. It doesn't leave much of a middle for a large enough group of politicians in almost any state to roll back bad laws.
SA warning for the vid and my post.
I didn't get mental illness vibes, maybe just ignorance. I didn't listen super closely but from what I heard it seemed like the typical puritanical take which honestly doesn't really bother me; different people think differently, she's entitled to her opinion and is allowed to share it. Do I agree with her? Obivously not, I feel like her opinions showed her complete unfamiliarity with the business/es like how she was trying to relate her creepy bar guy incident to Onlyfans chicks/strippers/escorts. I thought the argument about how most women in these industries have tons of relationship issues, abortions, psychological issues...etc. was weird since those are very obviously not adult entertainment phenomena, but also where is she getting this data from since she has no personal experience with the industry and women in it? There was a part I think towards the beginning that I thought was funny where she gave a percentage as a "statistical fact" but then said to not ask her for actual statistics because she doesn't have them and to ''open your fucking eyes'' instead to back her made-up number up. The part where she was talking about how basically she's morally superior because she doesn't have creepy men getting off to her was weird to me personally because I'm not sure how or why a creepy guy getting off to a woman is supposed to reflect badly onto the woman. I mean I can grasp what her argument would be, but it would involve purity/the weird, misogynistic idea of men being able to soil women with their actions.
She talked about how she was SAed multiple times, I think that's where her puritanical ideas involving women being soiled by entertaining creepy men may have started. Like her being abused by creeps is why the thought of women sexually entertaining creeps is so completely abhorrent and reprehensible to her. ---ETA like she basically considers adult entertainers to be sexually catering to creeps and abusers like the ones who SAed her, which like I said speaks to her complete lack of experience with the biz.
Re-watching it now, she also said she's a pagan. Maybe she belongs to some....obscure denomination of paganism? I think her saying she is a pagan and a witch is kind of funny too because one of her arguments against working in the sex industry is that parents don't want their kids to do that when they grow up, and so since she said that she was raised Christian I have to wonder....did her Christian parents want her to grow up, leave the church and become a witch?
The second part is where it goes off the rails

I think having a near death experience and seeing multiple gods is not indicative of mental health, not to mention her other visions (angels, psychic, etc).
Also her argument (in the second part) is internally inconsistent, It was a fallacy to state that men cannot speak for wifes because we are men, but you cannot establish this and then speak for sex workers.
Facts are facts regardless of who states them, but her breaking her own rules is just sloppy arguing.
Got 30 seconds in and couldn't. Apologies to science.
Well this industry isn’t for everyone. Ijs
Some people get destroyed by it while others are out here creating wealth for themselves and their families and helping others fulfill a need they can’t get elsewhere.
It’s best to fully understand the pros and the cons then make informed decisions.
Nah it is good practice to listen to arguments that you disagree with, and dissect them rationally. This is a skill and the less you practice it the duller it gets.
There are exceptions like in hostile adversarial situations, but I don't think this qualifies, this was a flawed attempt to posit a statement that at the end of the end of the day is wrong and perpetuates stereotypes.
I didn't get mentally ill from her either. I just got bitch that can't mind her own business. Like seriously, I hate when people reference the "old days" like um we didn't have any rights back then so what do you mean? She's giving me Serena Joy vibes. If you don't know who Serena Joy is, watch the Handmaid's tale.
She said she was sexually abused as a child and was also raped. It's possible that this affected her mental health.
