Re: should i start dancing?
If you think you want to be a dancer, then I say go for it. Don't worry about your dancing abilities, or lack thereof. Exotic dancing is very different from most other kinds of dancing although most of the great dancers I've seen do incorporate some other forms of dance in their shows. I reccomend you go to some clubs in your area and check out what the girls are doing there to get an idea of what you will need to work on. Actually going to a club, if you've never danced before, is the best advice I can give. It will help you with a lot of questions you may have. Like what kind of clothes and shoes to get, and what to expect from a night as a dancer. Just go and pay attention to the girls that already work there. And HAVE FUN. :)
Re: should i start dancing?
I just wanted to mention that, as a classical voice major, you should consider the club environment's wear and tear on your voice. What I mean are the constantly having to talk over loud noise, second hand cigarette smoke and exposure to other people's colds and such.
Otherwise, I'd say try it out and have fun :) Just take care of your gifts.

Re: should i start dancing?
Not totally true. I was with my ex-fiance for three in a half years, and he knew I wanted to dance. He supported me 100%. The reason for the relationship ending was because I caught him cheating on me with another dancer. [shocked] Oh well! Anyways, for Carina, if you wanna start dancing, you need to let your boyfriend know ahead of time. Don't have him in for no surprises... [argue]
Re: should i start dancing?
I just wanted to say thank you for all your responses. Kianna...that just plain sucks what your ex-fiancee did.. better now than later. Veronika, that's true... i guess all that stuff kind of slipped my mind. I think i'm leaning towards not doing it. But do you guys know of anything else that gets somewhat fast money in the sex industry besides escorting or s&m? I'm doing day trading, but until I really develop those skills, the bucks will still be unstable..
Re: should i start dancing?
Veronika.... YOu're a singer too? if so what kind?........just wondering, would be cool if someone had similiar goals...
Re: should i start dancing?
there is very little money in S&M
First, you have to make a huge investment in clothing and equipment. Second, you will not have a steady clientele to rely on. even if you work for one of the dungeons, yo ucould go hours without a single person walking in. I had a friend do this. She made about $250/hr, but wouldn't have more than a handful of bookings a week....I think she told me she grossed about $25,000 in the last year. YUCK.
You don't need to do escorting either, but obviously that is good, fast money. You could waitress or be a shot girl. Dancing isn't so bad. If his opinion of you doing this was that important, you wouldn't even be considering it, but you are, so that says a lot right there. Give dancing a shot, and to hell with your boyfriend. (Do I sound a little bitter?!)
Re: should i start dancing?
Do you want to dance because you need quick money or have a curiousity and really want to try.Either way, i think you should just experiance it and see how it goes. You may find yourself enjoying it AND making good money. You can always stop if ya want. As for your man..... he may just be insecure of the atmosphere and need time to adjust. If yas have trust in the relationship he should be open to have you try new things. You only live once.=)
Re: should i start dancing?
oh yea and im not too sure on this topic but i see alot of things on webcam modeling and stuff? Im not familiar with it but it may be something to check on.
Re: should i start dancing?
Carina, I used to bartend at NY Dolls for a few months and I can say it's a great club to start dancing at. It is very clean. All you have to do is be there when scheduled and be there on time. There are table dances (no contact) and in champaigne room you don't have to give contact either. You can just carry casual conversation and do a couple of table dances. The room is not private, all couple are in the same lounge area with cameras. Champaigne host is always checking up on you so it's very safe. I say go for it!
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Re: should i start dancing?
DancerNY,
How's the bartending money? :-* ;) :D
Re: should i start dancing?
Bartending money SUCKS! lol
At least compared to dancing. The most I ever made was $315 or so and that was around Christmas time, last year.
I didn't bartend anywhere else, went to dancing straight from there so I don't know how bartending money is in other places.

since your a voice major, I am assuming that you have a nice voice. then why don't you try phone sex, I don't know much about the set up but if you can control your voice you could put a customer in any fantasy he wants...... 8)
Re: should i start dancing?
BigRed i was going to suggest the same thing.... i work as chat line operator here in London and to be honest i don't know what i would do with out it! i'm not sure how much companies pay per minute of talk time in the states but from what i know its more than we earn here. I say give it a try :)
Re: should i start dancing?
Hey I agree with what a few of the other ladies have said. I think that you should be aware that by dancing in the club, you will be around so much smoke, and germs because so many guys will be all up in your face. I hope that whatever you decide to do, you jump in knowing that you are here to take care of business.
