How to do "small talk", hustling and make up.
When I first started, I was unemployed and not so confident in a room full of strangers. I didn't know the art of small talk.... I didn't have enough confidence to go up to people I didn't know at all and initiate a conversation.
Hustling... I had been a coffee shop attendant mostly prior to dancing as well as unemployed so I had no idea about sales. I would've loved to be educated about sales/selling prior to starting....
Make up... Well, I was (and kinda still am) a tom boy. I never wore make up unless I really had to... so I had no idea and just had to learn on the go what did and didn't work for me etc.
Clothes. I didn't know that there was a difference between sexy outfits (bikinis, club outfits) and actual stripper clothes that look good on stage (under the black lights and stuff). I also wish I had known that you can't please everybody. I used to take rejection or a dislike to me/my dancing so personally. It would literally eat me up inside, now I know better.
It would be damn hard work, with alot of guys wanting to take you home. Guess i expected a "rules" board on the door for customers.

That it doesn't matter that I can't dance!
Argh! Emily stole mine! Hm... okay, don't feel guilty cuz some guy is spending major dough on you, you're not MAKING him.
Don't believe every story >:(
However...
Every story has some truth :o
Your take at the end of the night does not equate your worth...
(I'm still learning this one...) :-/
No one is here to make friends
However...
Everyone needs a friend sometimes :-*
Money that comes fast goes fast.
G-string Divas left a whole lotta shite out. I wish I had known that. I wish I went into it knowing how to dress like a stripper. Wish I had a better grasp of human behaviour.
Baby Wipes. Now I use them for everything.
I see a lot of new girls come in a put up with way too much crap from grabby customers.
I used to sit through boring conversations with guys who just talked on and on and on...
Now I know that If I don't like a customer, I can just get up and leave! :D I used to think I had to be nice to everyone, lol, what a waste of time that was!
Hmmm, thought long and hard about this one girls, and came up with this: knowing how important the right music is for my set / show. ;) Took a long time to learn but I think have the formula now.
(I could have written some grubby stuff about the importance of how to make a dick look big but thought this probably isn't of interest right now!) [nono]
that all the girls in the club do NOT look like claudia schiffer and angelina jolie.
That the earnings potential of 2000 weren't static.
How do you decide what music to use and whether or not it is right for you?Quote:

That I don't have to put up with any crap!
Boots are soo much more comfortable when you are just learning to walk in 6 inchers!

OK - first up male stripping is different from girls stripping, so this may not work for you, but I try and string together the following:
1) Great strong beat with few pauses, unless they are dramatic and can be put to good use
2) Go for something recognizable - a hit song or remake with a modern beat that the audience can relate too (I have to make sure it's not too feminine or girlie also ;))
3) Have a loose theme connecting the songs together, or at least a sexual / "I've got a great body" type theme to make the set complete (I make sure I don't sacrifice the flow and energy of the set for songs just because they have the right theme)
4) Varying tempos are OK, but I find slower ballady songs don't work for male strips - but they are perfect for women; also, if different tempo songs are chosen i make sure they are professionally pre-recorded and mixed with some kind of sound effect bridge for flow and continuity - I DO NOT rely on DJ's for this
That's pretty well it; I check the music board here for ideas from time to time to see what is working for the girls, and often can find a remix or something suitable to my sets; I also check DJ type web sites and pop charts like Top of the pops in the UK to see what stuff is currently hot. I prefer the Euro sound and charts over the US stuff (generally speaking ;))
Hope this helps!
Hmm That I don't have to be friendly to Jerks. :P
Like AussieVee, I'm quite the tomboy. Even now, after five years, I don't wear make-up unless required by circumstance. I never learned how to use blush or eyeliner before I started stripping. I didn't own a curling iron until I was nearly 19. Talking to guys...even considering myself attractive wasn't something I did on regular basis (knowing somebody else finds you attractive is not the same thing).
I guess I wish I'd known how to be a girl before I started dancing.
Gees, things I wish I knew before I started dancing... ??? It seems like I learned everything there is to know before and after getting in the industry. And I'm still learning to this day, and I've been a dancer for four years!! ;D ;)
Never let the guys know that you have a brain. It is an acting job. You are not there to be the customers best friend. You are there to do lap dances and the customer needs to pay you for your time and services.
Always save some money so that you won't feel desperate on a bad night.
If you have a problem with one of the other dancers ALWAYS tell a manager.
So true!Quote:

Also, this is one of the few service jobs where the customer is not always right... actually they're usually wrong.
Do NOT trust the girls in the club. They may have been nice friends but confiding in them puts way too much at stake.
Lock up all your shit.
