Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
Kitten,
Just tell them you're already drunk... let them buy you one drink and say "but don't let me have any more, i have to get sober before i drive home." And act drunk.

Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
had a friend that had to entertain at sc's all the time and knew the waitress real well, he would order a drink and they knew to leave out the alcohol for him....would that not work for you girls?
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
The driving home excuse is a good one. Sometimes I'll get a glass of water and walk around with that. That seems to keep down the offers of drinks.
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
I started out many year's ago working in go-go bar's at Ft. Campbell, Ky. and the club's there had what I called geisha girl's that would sit with the customer's for a " special drink " and flirt with them. This was all they did to make there money, there where about 15 dancer's and 15 or 20 ( buy-me-drinkie) girl's. All sold drink's and most of them brought something from home like a fruit drink concoction and they would give it a silly name when ordering it for the customer to buy. I think most owner's and manager's would much rather work out a non-alcohol drink with you then for you to refuse a drink that would in essence be losing the club money.

This begs the question: Why help the club make money off drinks if it's non-alcoholic?? Like, rum and coke without the rum, duh?
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
About 100% percent of the time, I'll offer to buy a dancer a drink when she's sitting with me. About 75% of the time, she'll say no thanks. Then I tell her that it sure doesn't need to be an alcohol drink. Then about half that time, they'll say, sure, they'll have a soft drink or something.
And none of it bothers me, nor should it bother anyone. Whether you want to drink or not, alcohol or not, shouldn't be an uncomfortable thing for you.
If your club has more than its quota of easily-offended guys, I might suggest saying, "It's too early for me to start drinking," or, "Oh, wow, I've already had too much," or, "I can't drink any more now. I need to drive home soon."
One thing to keep in mind that although I don't want to anchor the dancer to my table, if she gets a drink from me and immediately leaves it to work the crowd - well, it's a little annoying.

Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
Sometimes I really don't want one, but hate for the waittress to lose money so I order something anyway. When we had a chef I used to order smoothies and now i just order red bull if I don't want alcohol. This is for two reasons:a- it satisfies the customer desire for me to drink with them and b- I finish my drink at the table of the customer who bought it and red bull is easier to suck down than alcohol.
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
Oh yes the "walking around" say, with a sprite or water in your hand while on the floor or VIP works great. Alot of us ladies at work did not drink. Sometimes it looks nice to see a dancer walking around with a water, just kinda sends a message that she cares about her self.
Pluss another good reason, is we have to keep hydrated well, because we are using alot of energy, and alcohol dehydrates us.

Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
I'm not sure I see the dilemma, but I think some of you may be reading more into the customer’s request than necessary, i.e., you feel the customer will be put-off if you don’t share an alcohol beverage with him/her. IMO, that perception is incorrect.
Why not simply respond to the “would you like a drink question” with “I’ll have a bottle of water, or a Red Bull or a ______ “(fill in your favorite non-alcoholic drink). Resorting to dumping drinks or having the bartender not add alcohol to an “alcohol” drink isn’t really necessary IMO, and too much on the devious side. If I saw a dancer dumping the overpriced drink I just bought her, I would be very put off, and would end any business arrangement at that point.
And if you’re not thirsty at that moment, simply say no thanks or tell him you may order something later on. I really don’t think the customer will take offence.
I’m sure most guys are more concerned with things other than your drinking habits :)

guess i figured would have the same effect of taking the drink and dumping it in the locker room...just cringed at the thought of someone throwing out a perfectly good drink. in my friends case he had a certain amount of money he had to spend on food and drink as a part of his job...
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
One reason girls hesitate to order non-alcholic drinks is the price. A lot of guys get annoyed at paying $3.50 for a coke.

True, I guess most guys don’t minding paying for overpriced alcohol since they know the drink will at least give a buzz, but paying 5 bucks for a bottle of water can be a little hard to stomach .
Still, I think most customers understand the nature of SC drink pricing, and shouldn’t be surprised to be paying top dollar for any type of beverage—alcoholic or not. At least, it’s never surprised me.
Personally, I admire the self-discipline of the dancers who don’t drink while they’re working. It’s all too easy to fall into the habit of drinking all night when it’s free and accessible.
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
Also, some clubs will fine you if you turn down drinks. I've worked at a couple of clubs where it was listed in the club rules that you would be fined the drink price and charged for every drink a waittress reports that you turn down.
In a case like that if you don't drink or don't want to you don't have a choice, but to figure out something else to do so working out an arrangement with the bartender or drinking red bull is the next best option.
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
Many guys do get offended or put off if a girl orders something non-alcoholic. They will sit there and look at you like you're crazy or even try to pressure you into having some alcohol. The club always expects us to take something when a customer offers, because if we don't the club loses a sale and they don't like that. This puts us in a bit of a bad situation, so to avoid pissing anyone off, best thing you can do is either work out a deal with the waitstaff to bring you only coke when you order a rum and coke, or tell guys you're already a little too drunk and need a coke to sober up a bit. This way the club gets the sale, the waitress gets the tip opportunity, and you don't put off a customer who expects you to drink with him.

Thanx Ya'll!!!!!! Some great ideas. Im so glad I found this site! :)
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
Good advice from Bridgette above. If you get all your drinks direct from the bartender just tell them after your first drink to trim back the alcohol in each drink as the shift goes on.....
A side note on controling intoxication is to drink a glass of water for every drink or two you have- hangovers and intoxication is directly related to- the alcohol dehydrates the body.
Also stay away from super sweet drinks if you are going to drink more than two. The sugar as I understand it speeds up the rate of intoxication or something to that effect..
How about requesting drinks?
Kind of related, have you ever asked a customer to buy you a drink? I have. If they say they would like a dance in a little bit and there aren't a lot of other good prospects, sometimes I say "well, would you like to get me a drink and chat in the meanwhile?" I don't always do this, only if they seem receptive.
Re: Turning down Drinks!!!!!
I just turned 21 and I haven't yet accepted a real drink, I always get a virgin strawberry daquairi, juice, or bottled water. (Sorry if my spelling is wrong!) :-*
