Starting a non-pay site for yourself
I was just wondering what was involved in starting a non-pay site for yourself, for promotion? I think it would be a really great idea. Does this help a girl go above and beyond just "house girl" status? And can you make it a pay site later? How complicated is it?
Thank you.

ALL Publicity is good publicity but the costs (both money and time) involved in opening and maintaining a website probably exceede the marketing value for most individual dancers. I have done several websites for dancers who were initially excited about the potential and within 6 months most had abandoned it because it took up too much time. Also ...its very difficult nowdays to make a sexually oriented PAY Site profitable. There are just waaaay too many of them.
From the clubs point of view it CAN be helpful if the club itself has a web presence but its not a big consideration. IF you intend to travel or feature it can be helpful as an easy reference to your photos and abilities.
Turning a free site into a pay site is alot more difficult now that Paypal has quit handling the adult market. Payment processing and password issues are the biggest obstacles. Also remember that most FREE Hosting servers won't handle adult content.
Its ALOT of work and some expense but if you really want to start your own website message me and I'll point you toward some hosts and software.

A website where you can let your customers see more of you and make them want to come back is always a good idea. Especially these days when the money is harder--it makes building regulars that much more important. You can go to www.gofuckyourself.com --Somebody else on this site recommended it and its great. Its a forum for adult webmasters. They even tell you where you can make a free adult site and give advice on how to make your site more profitable.

Re: Starting a non-pay site for yourself
It's really easy to start a free website. However, if you want to offer adult content it does cut down on the available options for free web hosting. Read the fine print because just because a website is free to the surfers does not mean that it is free to you. Typically small adult website hosting costs like $25 a month for starters. There are free adult web hosts available but they often force you to post banners and links to affiliated sites in exchange, which can be a big distraction to surfers. Also, another fairly good way to get started is to start your own Yahoo group, which offers 100% free web hosting but bombards your site with their own pop-ups. Of course if you never plan to post a picture showing your breasts or nudity starting a free site is as easy as uploading a couple of html pages to your ISP's web server.
As far as getting into a pay website, this year's Patriot Act and some other factors has caused lots of changes in the area of collecting money from customers over the internet. PayPal, the easiest way to transfer money between people over the internet, has been bought out by EBay. EBay conspicuously frowns on adult content, and as a result has ordered PayPal to stop processing transactions for adult businesses (including your would-be adult website) at the end of this summer.
To comply with the Patriot Act requirements to ID the sender and receiver of all transactions, MasterCard and Visa have directed their online credit card processors to begin thorough investigations of all businesses they are processing online credit card charges for, and have also directed that the online credit card processors prepare a detailed report in regard to who spent how much money to buy what from who that must be forwarded to Visa or MasterCard every month. What this translates into is that any new adult business that wants to process online credit card charges (like your would be paysite) must #1 cough up a $750 annual fee to the credit card processor, and #2 undergo a thorough investigation in regard to actual identity, criminal record, financial history, business history etc. This $750 up front annual fee has put lots and lots of marginally profitable single girl pay websites out of business already, and has made it very difficult for new single girl websites to become profitable.
Re: Starting a non-pay site for yourself
I would love it if my favorite dancers had sites particularly if they indicated schedules etc. I do a little emailing back and forth but generally I don't know if a fav is working on any given night. Seems like good marketing to me but I have no idea of the costs involved to the dancer.
