Re: Bodypainting pictures
Topaz,
I don't think anybody ever said tattoo's weren't cool. They said tattoo's will prevent you from being hired in *some* clubs. Like anything else, they will be a plus in some clubs.
I also think this picture was from bike week in daytona - a time and place where good tatt's would definitely be a plus.

Re: Bodypainting pictures
Topaz,
Hey, bikers have money. I have a very tattoo'd freind who banks at a biker bar. We all have our niche. I tend to only appeal to older men, which can really suck on a saturday night at a party club in a college town. But, such is life.

Re: Bodypainting pictures
Topaz, that's an exaggeration. In fact, MOST strippers I know have tats, and quite a few have piercings, including facial piercings. I've never been given crap for mine. If you're looking at only gown clubs, yeah, that will effect your being hired, but the majority of clubs aren't gown clubs.
And I've made plenty off of businessmen, accountants, brokers and architects who like my tats....so being a biker has nothing to do with it.
And I'll be an uberbitch here, but quite frankly I'm sick of your whole "Boo hoo nobody likes me I'll never get hired because of my ink" attitude. Baby, strippers MADE the sex appeal of the tattoo. You're only "an outcast" because you keep considering yourself one, despite the fact that we've never forced you into that position. Get over yourself. The "image" that you claim needs to be upheld is regularly and profitably blown to bits by tattooed and pierced dancers. If you're not comfortable with dancing or aren't being hired, okay, but don't try to blame it on an obviouisly unrelated factor.
Re: Bodypainting pictures
I have only very limited time online now due to some serious shit coming down, but maybe I can clarify somewhat the difference between bodypainting and tattoos.
Bodypainting is by its very nature a purely temporary phenomenon. This means the participants are freed from concern about whether five years down the road, the large Harley-Davidson logos on each breast will still be regarded fondly, by the viewers or the bearer of the artwork.
This means anything goes. I can paint whatever the hell the woman and I come up with that seems like a great idea at the time, and the next day, it's gone. This is total artistic freedom.
I don't really have any strong feelings about tattoos either way. They are very, very popular here in Daytona, not just among dancers. I have seen some unquestionably beautiful tattoos, and also, regrettably, a lot of extremely lame and tacky work as well. Generally speaking, the more intelligent and creative the person, the better the tattoos will be, from my experience, though of course there are exceptions to the rule.
Art is art, whether it will wash off in a few hours, or last as long as the ink remains crisp under the skin. People who look down their noses at body art, whether because it is permanent or transitory, or both, are only limiting themselves.
I can understand your irritation, Topaz, at being criticized for your body art. It is sad that this kind of intolerance works both ways.
I confess I have little patience for those who regard bodypainting as being in any way inferior to tattoo art, and I have run into a great deal of this kind of reception. But that is human nature, I suppose.
I will be downloading some much better pictures as soon as I resolve the situation I am dealing with here...

Thanks!
Nice work Djoser. That's gotta be a lot of fun to be able to paint whatever you want on somebody else.
Tyler on tattoos: I have them, and like them sometimes on some people. If you don't have a tattoo though, it's not like you are an incomplete person. To each their own.
Tyler.
