female dancers'day to day appearance
this is a ? for the female dancers here-you can answer for yourself as well as other dancers you know-the question is: how different from your stage attire do you dress in your day to day life-more specifically, do any of the dancers you know actually always dress sexy or dress to obviously show off their bodies? or do they tone that way down in day to day life? I am asking because it would explain how a dancer sees herself in every day life vs her job.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
It depends on what I'm doing. I mean, I try not to go out looking like a scrub but have no prob walking around without makeup. But regardless if I'm going out on the town or to the grocery store I try to not look too slutty. I guess I even try to downplay my, uh, sexuality.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
When I go pick up my son at the babysitter's I dress like any other mom. Some of the girl's I work with do come to work in some skimpy outfits. However, these tend to be the younger girls.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
I dunno..
I go to school during the day and I'll admit that sometimes I'll dress boyish <grin> Like a sweatsuit (but a cute one from Bebe or somethin!) I try to get dolled up while Im AT work, and then afterwards I'll leave in pajama pants or sweats! During the weekends I like to dress up.. but I dont like to wear that much makeup if Im not working

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
My life is perpetually a toybox full of dress-up clothing. When I'm working in my internship I have to abide by my dress code (uniform shirt/khaki skirt/retainers in piercings, etc) but otherwise, pretty much anything shiny and fun I can find to tie on....my usual outfit consists of knee-highs, a little vintage dress or miniskirt with a guy's shirt, pigtails, cat's eye glasses, Chuck Taylors and about 2 pounds of jewelry. ;D

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
I dress really nice to go to and from work (a WHOLE other thread, but how I see it, if this is thier fantasy...doesn't it completely blow it if they see you walk out in sweats with no make-up?) Unless I'm "going out", which isn't often....it's my BF's tee-shirt and shorts with flip-flops. When I start school this fall, I'll probably dress like I did in HS.
I'm not trying to impress anyone. I live in a beach town, I spend most of my time sitting around on my back porch or in my garage/rec-room, reading. I don't "show off" but I don't wear oversized clothes either. I'm just a confident, comfortable person.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
I definitely don't dress the same on my days off as I do to go to work. The customers in my area seem to like the school girl thing and they like pinks and whites and cute frilly little things. Really girly stuff, so that's what I wear when I'm working. Also, I have super short hair now (Really bad haircut.....hated it so I just chopped the rest off myself. It'll grow back someday)so I wear wigs when I'm dancing. No one notices though. But when I'm off work, I take the wigs off, slap some gel in my hair and wear it messy. And I usually dress either in my fiance's shirts and stuff or some of my jeans or sweats. During my personal time, I'm definitely not very feminine.
I really do love getting all made up when I'm at work. And I love the cute outfits that I have, but when I'm off work, I usually just want to relax and de-stress. And although I never leave the house without a little makeup on, I definitely don't put the same effort into it as I would if I were at the club.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
How to say this without being catty.
I dress nice enough that other cute girls come and ask me where I got my outfits.
Sexy enough that cute guys make a point to cross the street to get a better look and
cute enough that the women who have let there looks and appearance slide, mutter bitch under their breath as I pass.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
At work (hospital) Dress code. earthtone makeup, skirts no higher than 3" above the knee, my long hair up or tied back. And no flashy colours. In my dept. We have to wear solid colours. No ruffles. 3 rings only on hands, and earings 2" no bigger. Pumps, no heels. (which i sometimes get away with a higher heel). No open toe or heel. Gosh can go on and on with the dress code.
At home, i love a short skirt, no panties, pumps, lotion all over my legs, hair tied up with bits hanging all out. And my favorite white halter with no bra. only vaseline on my lips for shine, and a small amout of vaseline on my eyelashes. I just feel so good dressed like that. And the top is not so white it is see through, just nipples will poke out now and again.
Anyway my fav. attire at home.
Shopping... short skirt, nude legs, no makeup, hair in ponytail, and a darker halter with a strapless bra, pumps. ALWAYS PUMPS . I have a foot/shoe fetish i have mentioned before.
Dancing i wore major shoes, hair, makeup, clothing etc.! Home i like sexy but casual.
Pamela :)

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
It varies. 50% of the time, total grunge (jeans, sweatshirts, etc.) 40% of the time (particularly when I'm working my "day" job) I'm dressed pretty formally and surprisingly conservatively -- right out of Ann Taylor, mainly. Maybe 10% or actually much less of the time (usually, just when we're going somewhere that NO ONE we know will see us) I dress kinda slutty.... not WHORE slutty, but more like J-Lo slutty.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
I dont wear what I wear at work but I do dress cute. I usually wear low rider jeans, boots or sandals depending on the season, a tight top and my hair down. I always wear my hair stick straight.
I love makeup, but I dont wear the kind I do at work. I'll use an exaggeration of lipgloss, and a ton of macara for everyday to play up my green eyes. :)

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
It depends, but for college it's jeans and tank, T or sweater. Hair in a pony tail and glasses. For the office, it's strictly Ann Taylor or business casual. For a date or a night out with the girls, I'm near stripper!

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
Yah, I am the athletic wear sort as well, mascara and lipgloss.
Around the house jammies all damn day!

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
For me, it depends on the day. On the weekends, I wear glasses and no makeup, but I like to wear cute form fitting clothes to show off a little bootay, hehe. Even with my disguise on, I still get recognized at places like Target and Safeway.
On weekday nights, I like to dress a little classier in case I see customers in the lobby or while walking to the club.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
I usually wear makeup on my days off and wear jeans and a tucked in blouse or nice sweatshirt and my tennis shoes, occasionally medium to low heels. In the summer I will wear shorts with nice tennis shoes or low heeled sandals.
Are you the one interested in dating a dancer? because if you are i think you'll find that many of them will be a turnoff for you outside the club as lots of younger women especially don't dress to impress as much as they used to.
Are you looking for a girl who dresses in 6 ich platforms and short skirts outside the club which obviously will raise more than a few eyebrows, or a dancer who is basically well kept with her hair down, makeup on and nails done, 2-3 inch heels on with her skirts, shorts or jeans and looking like she just walked out of the couture department.
Many dancers just don't look beautiful in their personal lives. Some put their hair up and wipe off their makeup before they leave the club and wear ugly flip flops or dirty tennis shoes.
Honestly your chances of finding a well kept soap opera looking girl would be higher in the yuppie area of a major city in the classiest mall in town where you will find above average looking women who love to wear high end fashions and dress to impress looking cute, but not sleazy.
The Pamela types sound like your types of girls but probably only 20% of dancers look that way consistently in their personal lives. britney on Young and Restless sounds like what you want, but nowadays not many younger girls are into looking that nice on a daily basis.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
99% of the time, when I'm not on stage or in front of a camera I dress in total grunge, with extra large sweatshirts, loose fitting button up shirts etc. I have found that if I wear anything that is even the least bit "attractive" clothing wise, even though I'm totally without makeup and have my hair back, that I still get s#$t happening to me like "I'll give you $20 if you show me your tits" in the card aisle at WalMart.

well don't you think you look a bit different chest wise than the average girl on the street?that's probably why you get comments like that-not that I condone those comments

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
On my days off, the last thing I feel like doing is getting dolled up. Dancing outfots are so restricting. I let my body breath on my days off. I try to be as comfy as possible, which pretty much means sweat pants and a sweatshirt. Hair in a ponytail, no makeup. My poor boyfriend.

Re: female dancers'day to day appearance
The way I dress outside of work it the TOTAL opposite of the way I dress at work. I do have some tight fitting shirts and jeans that I wear when I go out, but that is very rare. I am a single mother of two children. I am not into fashion, I'm a t-shirt kind of girl. I feel I spend enough time on making myself look attractive while I'm at work, that I don't want to bother with all of that after hours.
