If we're late to stage (and the DJ doesn't follow a rotation, so if we're downstairs and don't here we're just SOL). If we're late. If we call off without a doctors note. If we come out of the dressing room before the bouncers have cleared the club at the end of the night. Etc..
Lena
We're fined when we are late ($25 for every half hour), and $100 regular nights, $200 on slow nights. On holidays, you never know what the fine can be...sometimes during xmas/t-giving, it is $1,000. Insane.
like Lena said, we need a doctor's note. I went away for a funeral and had to bring back the memorial card and plane ticket stub!
:-/
thats pretty retarded.. i mean late fee's i can understand.. but if you need the next day off or somthing inportant happens they should be at least a little more understanding..
$1000!?! That is frieking crazy! I guess I am pretty lucky, at my club you are fined a whopping $5 if you pay your floor fee late. And, if you answer the club phone you will get fined, or if you lie about the time you got onto the floor you will be fined $50. There are never any nights where we HAVE to be there, so we don't have to worry about any no-show fines.
Fines...Ha, ok let's see (and I know I'll probably miss some)
$50-no show
$20-late-no call or bad excuse (manager's decision) The later you are-the higher the fine gets.
$25-call in w/ "poor" excuse
$10-failure to be on floor when due-continues to increase w/ more time late.
$20-using cell phone
$10- not off stage within 30 seconds of end of last song.
$15-not to stage on time
$10-have 3 songs after your stage set to "freshen" up-if not walking the floor after those 3 songs, then fined.
$3.50- bringing a drink into te hVIP room w/ you, or declining a drink from a customer.
That's about all I can remember at this point. (with this many it gets tiresome *g*)
In your guestimation, what's the percentage of clubs that allow you to set your own schedule. The club that I frequent, some girls only work one to two days a week. Don't most dancrs usually look for clubs that have flexible schedules, I'm sure every town with more than a few clubs have clubs that allow you to set up your own work schedule.
Oh, I forgot $20 if you aren't back on the floor within 10 minutes after stage, $20 if you have your cell phone with you on the floor, $25 if you aren't wearing appropriate jewelry (don't remember the exact rules) or if your thong doesn't match your outfit, and if someone brings a cup into a dressing room, it's $10 from all the girls who used that room that night. $50 if you do something mildly illegal on stage, $100 if you do something extremely illegal on stage. $50 if you get naked during a lap dance or vip or let a customer touch you. $50 if you get drunk and go home.
I don't think the managers even remember all the fines LOL
Lena
Oh, and most clubs let you set your own schedule... it's geographic though, in a lot of areas you just come in where you feel like it, and in some areas you get bookings and feel glad for them whenever they are. I think most clubs though just ask you what your schedule is for the next week, write it down and expect you to stick to it in some form.
My God Tia. How the hell do they enforce all that? Better yet, how do you put up with it?Quote:

Hi Ladies,
So what happens if you decide not to pay the fine? Can they fire you?
they can, they will. most clubs take care of that problem by not allowing you to work until the fine is paid... so if you refuse to pay, i guess you sort of end up firing yourself.Quote:

for the most part, NorthEast clubs don't bother with fines anymore. They have so many dancers looking for bookings in any clubs with decent earnings potential that if a girl has attendance problems or work ethic problems or attitude problems the club simply won't allow her to book time in next week's club schedule, with her place being taken by some other girl who is grateful for the opportunity.
Tia Q and Lena,
Finally, someone else who has worked in clubs as bad as the ones I have!
Lena, do they fine the manager for forgetting the fines?
I knew a woman who got fined about 3000$ in the space of 5 months, to help support the manager's meth habit, but Karma rules--as I have said, he's dead...

Enforcing is fairly easy... unfortunately. Seeing as how most of the VIP dances are purchased by club "tickets" which are cashed in at the end of the shift-the club has you over a barrel.. Any money that is "fined" for that night can be taken out of the money they owe you-so they simply take it out. Amazingly it used to be a lot worse, the owner would actually carry around a clipboard documenting everything everyone did "wrong" (talk about being on edge all night)... One of my best nights is when one of the dancers had enough and actually hit him over the head with the clipboard so hard that it broke in half! LMAO That put an end to the clipboard days...
Honestly if I was constantly being fined, I would not make it... despite it being one of the better clubs in the area, I'd take off. Thankfully either due to the amount of money I make them, my track record (been there for 4 years, rarely call in, etc.) and my tendency to stay out of trouble or all of the mentioned, I have never been fined (knocking desperately on wood)
Wow!!!! I can't belive what I am hearing!! I can't belive what and how much you guys are fined for!! Reading this really makes me appreciate the club I work at. We are not fined for shit!! Alot of times i have called a half hour before my schedual and said i couldn't come in. The managers were like "cool , see ya tomorrow!" The only thing is that if we are late for our shift we have to go home. Which could be a bad thing but after hearing what your guys' clubs are like I am starting to rethink that. If you can mabey you should try a diffrent club that doesn't royaly rape you!! But I can understand geograpicaly if that isn't an option. All i am saying is that you girls shouldn't be getting screwed like this! I mean you are employees!!! You should be getting money not giving it to greedy club owners!! This is such an injustice. I wish you all good luck!
I have not been fined. But a no show is asking to be let go. And as far as being late on stage, none that i know of. I have been late on stage before and no one said anything but the dj. (bitched a bit.)
I do work at one club that i LOVE, and you can set your own hours. The other, well 4 shifts, and fines for no show? not that i heard of.
But from what i read with all the fines for almost everything, sounds so stupid. We would just be replaced, i know that for sure. We had several girls not show for a period of time, and walk in on a certain night to work, only to hear "cia". Some left crying, some caused a stink, and were thrown out. All these fines for all this stuff, i would not pay thats for sure.
I think me doing my best to stick within the rules, and keeping in touch with the club should be good enough, but fine me for going to the doc. or being a little late, Hey we are people shit happens. As an IC i won't pay stupid fines. Thats just me. But if you have too, you have too. (One club employee.)
Pamela >:(
I have found that most clubs that levy "fines" against dancers, the owners know nothing about it, and never see a dime. I know one particular owner who was sued by his dancers for the return of fines paid as well as back wages (never paid them, treated them as IC). He ended up losing his shirt, and his bar. He had no idea that in the state he operated in that he had to pay a wage to his dancers by law. He also had no idea that the managers were fining the dancers for poor behavior, or even for getting "too close" during a lap dance (there were no distance rules at this club). So basically, if a manager was wanting more cash for whatever, he would simply start fining for various infractions by the dancers and have that down payment for his new car in no time.
100 no show on weekends, 40 no show weeknights. house fee is determined by the time you come in. dressed and on the floor by 7 $15 , 7-7:45 $20 7:45 to 8:30 $25 can not work if not on the floor by 8:30. thats about it. sometimes if you cant come in on fri or sat you can escape the fine by working on sun. these dont apply to me as my boss is nice enough to let me work just weekends or th-sat as i come from out of town
Fines at my club are generally either $50 or $100, depending on the severity of the infraction. Not showing up for work when scheduled with no phone call, wearing an inappropriate outfit like something see-through on any night or two-piece any night except Saturdays, or not using a garter is $50; engaging in illegal acts is $100. However, the manager imposes the fines fairly arbitrarily, depending on how often a dancer violates the rules. If someone is always doing something wrong, she is more likely to get fined than a girl who generally follows the rules. We have alot of rules at my club, but management is very reasonable.
Wow :o I can't beleive what I'm reading here! Thank god the club dont do such a thing. I make up my own schedule and I can come in whenever I want. The only fines that I know if is
20 - if no make up cover tattoos ( but they c hanged that now)
I can't remember how much but u're fiined if u are late to stage
20 - if u tell dj to play song u want him to play
second time he's fined 50 bucks
hmm that's all I can think of lol.

I thikn as an owner sometimes fines are necessity. This occurs mostly in small-market areas where the dancers are less-professional and often flighty. Most of those fines listed here are ridiculous. I usually fine only if your late (significantly) without notice, or no-show. There are others but usually not enforced unless the dancer is a constant problem. I do suspend quite a bit though. Most dancers get the drill and don't mind. I mean if you don't wanna come to work tonight, and don't wanna call, then you won't mind sitting home a week. just my take...
At the past two clubs I've worked in, if you didn't work a weeknight you had to pay extra to work the weekend, from $25-$50. Also you could get fined for being late to stage, $10-$20. But these were very arbitrarily enforced. I think suspension, like mentioned above, is more effective - what dancer doesn't think she can come up with an extra $50 on a weekend? But if she can't work it at all, she's more likely to work the required day.

Oh my god
to skip a song is 10 bucks..
turning up late is 10 everyhour
those are the only fines my club has
that cellphone fine is Bull F'ing shit
$10-have 3 songs after your stage set to "freshen" up-if not walking the floor after those 3 songs, then fined.
that too is Bs i mean.. damn.. girls in my glub can stay in the dressing room as long as they need as long as they dont miss their stage songs
I totally agree the cell phone fine is bullshit. What if it is a really slow night, and the dancer wants to call her customers to let her know she is working and she would like them to come see her?
Actually, I can understand the cell-phone one... why can't the dancer do the call in the dressing room? They shouldn't have phone on the floor... it doesn't look good plus it invites prostitution to easy which is a major huge NO NO.
My previous club had a whole range of fines however only a selection of them were enforced.
