Funny you should mention that. I was at my favorite bar and saw two cameras, one looking at the cash register (which is ok) and one looking away from the stage towards the front door. This one was kind of hidden with tape over the red light. I am now wondering if the new lights around the stage were installed (after 15 years of dull dim lighting) could they have installed cameras by the stage? The ceiling is painted black, so a pin hole camera would be hard to see. But................
I suspect that if it were a common practice, we'd see some on the 'net somewhere. But I've seen all kinds of peeper photos posted on the 'net, never any taken in a club.
I imagine the presence of bouncers is a substantial deterrent. Pity the poor fool who got caught doing that.
At a couple of clubs I have worked at there have been cameras used for monitoring private dances and monitoring the general area just in case a fight starts. I was told that, after the video is done filming, that it restarts and the old stuff is erased when the new stuff is filmed. It is scary to think of what could happen if that video ever DID get into the wrong hands...
I agree mini cameras seem to be soooo popular right now. But i don't worry about it too much . I am all over the net anyway. I would just like to get a cut if a bathroom shot got sold someplace over seas! Thats me. Seriously though, they do seem to be in alot of places these days. It stinks. No privacy. The bathroom thing has me wondering alot, everyplace i go. Pamela
The clubs I worked at have cameras all over. But I guess it's for security reasons.
I've heard stories of managers keeping those tapes for their own private use:(
Yes, cameras are common in strip clubs, and unsavory managers/owners using the footage for their own fantasies is also common. It's just another hazard of the business - some men will find ANY way to expoit us.
How much T&A can a manager at a strip club get. Guess not enough ???
I would be more concerned about a customer bringing in one of those mini-cams or pen-cams. With the kind of noise, chaos, and lighting in clubs, it would not be hard for a customer to bring one that does not require a flash, use it, and never even be noticed.

Mccain - That is EXACTLY what I was referring to! :-/
I've seen undercover Private Investigators on talk shows (Ricki, JJones) who go undercover at a strip club. They just block out the girls faces when they air the video on TV. A video/DVD called Undercover Stripper is also sold on the web.
I just clicked on that link and that will probably make me feel kinda odd when I start back working. What has crossed my mind though is that most clubs have a notice posted inside the front entrance that any means of image reproduction from inside the club is not permitted. If this notice is posted in full view isn't this in any way illegal ?
I do remember from my town a couple of years back in a child custody case, a guy had an investigator tape his wife in a strip club after she started dancing when he kicked her out on the streets. The tape was ruled inadmissable b/c of the notice thing and b/c the inside of the club was considered private and not public.
Where I used to work they had cameras in the vip room to monitor any possible sexual activities. The strange thing is they didn't have a camera in the dressing room nor inside the club. The managers are always out there to watch and they're always checking out the dressing room.
I remember there were a bacholar party going on that nite and this guy were taking a pictures of group of guys and I was on 3rd stage (close to where they were taking pictures). I kinda freaked out and told the mananger about it and he came and took the camera. I would hate to think the pictures would get into the wrong hands. And I've heard there are some small video cameras that could go unnoticeable such as pen cameras, cameras hidden inside hats, belts, or jackets. We all need to keep our eyes open and look out for those stuff though it may be noticeable.

I went into a strip club with a guy and could easily have had my video camera in my large purse positioned up at the dancers. Now if they would have caught me it would have been another story. My friend took a pic of me OUTSIDE of the club and the doorman chased us down and wanted the film out of my camera.
there are a couple of mobile phones with built in cameras on sale in the UK. ericsson and nokia both sell them.
there has been a couple of press stories about them

Couple of things on photographs/video
Fully legal for a club to monitor and record all areas for security reasons.
I personally think this is a good thing as if officer undercover claims that I crossed the legal line I would love to go to the video and dispute his claim with solid evidence.
Next, the right of the club to market the same security videos is illegal, as the fair use now requires a signed consent form from all involved. I caution any dancer that signs a contract to scan it to make sure you are not giving the club any rights to use your likeness in print, video or film. If this is listed you need to cross out the video and film. On both copies and initial by both you and club manager. Print needs a * next to it and the statement below saying “only pre-approved photographs by (your name) allowed”
This just protects your images. If some manager decides that a beaver shot of you is just what he wants to sell bachelor parties you have the right to refuse the image use.
Now when it comes to voyeur cams they are hard to detect and yes my smiling face may show up on some Joes web site. The law is pretty strict on voyeur cams when caught.
We have the right to protect or images and unauthorized use because we are professionals.
Voyeur cams videos cannot be legally offered for sale. This is not to say that they may end up on the illegal market.
Pamela & Tommy Lee made a video that was stolen and then bootlegged. They sued for the tape and won. Then they sold the rights to have it marketed. And pocketed the profits!!!! Got to love them….
The above information comes from my husband that understands all of this from his many years as a professional photographer and his study of the laws concerning this.
My manager at the club before last took home dressing room videos for his viewing pleasure, and we suspect these may be on the web. There are so many voyeur sites out there we have not yet even tried to find out. He's that kind of guy! Under investigation for a prostitution ring.
Horny as a goat, about as pleasing to the eye, and with all the ethics of a pack of rabid wolverines. I suspect he isn't the only one out there...

A few months ago the dayshift girls did encounter a guy bringing in a camera in his bag and one of the girls saw it and yelled to the girl giving him a dance. He shot up , grabbed his bag, and ran out before anyone knew what the hell was going on . We have a coatcheck now, where it is required to check your coat, and your bag -
Well Folks;
The future is here. Sprint, Varizon, and several other Cell phone companies are marketing a digital camera inside their cell phone. Once taken, the picture can easily be transmitted to any email address as well as a web page. And, they work very well in low light.
There will always be nuts that want to capture the uncapturable.....the glorious female form. But, doing so and publishing it publically leaves one open to legal actions. The max fine is $150,000 to display an image publically without a properly executed models release as well as a location release.
This will, no doubt result in a huge can of worms. And I can see no way to put the toothpaste back in the tube. So be prepared girls. If you display your wares to others you may have file or just get used to seeing your image, authorized or not. Be very very weary of those talking on phones in your club. They may be framing a photo.

The cameras in mobile phones... yes they are available here in Australia. I can totally understand the danger.. it is way to easy. Since I've changed clubs .. the club I work at now it isn't so easy to capture an image without being spotted doing so. My previous club due to its darker lighting... I would say it would be easy to do so in that club.
