Clothes to get me started
Oh my gawd can I just say I loooove clothes and shoes!? That said I need some suggestions about outfits to get myself started. I'd like to have a few different things, reasonably priced to get going with. I have some faves I'll link to below, yall can tell me what you think. I'd just feel silly having only one outfit, and looking through my clothes that's all I gots. Never should have sold my vinyl!!!
Anyway, reasonably priced suggestions are totally welcome. I just have a hard time with stuff that's $100 and clearly about the same quality as the $10 discount store halloween costume. I sew, therefore I'm a bitch.

Can't explain why I want this, but I just love it! If I do decide to borrow the name Rocket Girl, it definately fits. =)

In pink of course, white girls, on very white clothing is a bad idea. I'm such a classic/vintage junkie. When I lived in Portland I spent too much time at Retread Threads.

Can't explain the attraction to this one. Still a nice slinky dress, but it feels less '80s/Pretty Woman than the rest I've seen.

These....

...or these as my basic black. I adore the look of a chunky heel, and while I'm learning I want all the "support" I can get.

In leiu of white, don't like the white shoes for some reason. Figure this is still basic enough to do the trick.
Is 5" adequate? I'm kinda of afraid of anything bigger. Once I tried on these boots, they were knee high with fur, with I swear to gawd a 12" solid platform that had fangs molded on the plastic, and I fell right off of them and had to struggle to pick myself up off the floor. They had zero ankle support. Ooooh the trauma!!! :D

I do not like white shoes myself, unless it's glow in the dark lights for me. 5"? you should do ok. My opinion that is kinda small though. Mine are 8". and they are not platforms. I ate shit alot in them. On and off stage. When i first started dancing, i did not care nor think i would make it, i went to thrift stores and bought clothes, mixed and matched. I started with just sexy strapy high heels. Actually got away with it.
Go for what you feel comfortable with. Check out other dancers outfits. Shoes, height ect. Black vinly rocks, it's lighter than leather, and shines!
I think you made good decisions. Hey it's what you like! Wear them sexy! Pamela ;)
PS...Love # 1 very different colour. You will stand out for sure!

Hey I have that first outfit!! ;D

Hi Smurf,
Depending on where you are, you might have to get a black wrap or skirt to go with the first one - in lots of places your ass has to be covered. I personally think there are very few people the b/w checkers work on, but I imagine you're one of them :-)
I love the black dress (I have the longer red version)
You can always start out with just one pair of clear shoes.

I love the checkers! When we did Indy weekend here, the club outfitted us in black and white minis and bikini tops - kind of a racecar theme. It looked so good! Definitely an attention-grabber.
Re: Clothes to get me started
Thanks for the input girls! I dunno about the checkers either, I think it's more a personality thing to pull those off, in which case I've got it.
I dunno if my arse has to be covered or not. Oregon doesn't exactly have laws against public nudity for the matter. :-/
Right now I have a pair of chunky heeled 4" "mary jane" type shoes that I think will do the job for now. I just love any excuse for new shoes. Right now I'm pining over some Tony Lama crepe soled boots for the horse shows.
Pamela, you and your shoes are nuts. I don't even think my feet are big enough to reach the ground in an 8" heel sans platform! :P
