Re: Starting at a New Club
Thanks Pamela and Candigirl, yes its here and opening just before Bike Week, so I'll be doing very well. If you head up this way then, PM me and I'll give you the name of the place, and I'll be glad to buy you a drink. Unfortunately, since its going to be bikers, I doubt if I'll be able to play Enigma for ya, but you never know! It is upscale so maybe they could handle one song, at least.

Re: Starting at a New Club
Does this mean that you will now, unlike any other DJ I have encountered, try to just shut up now and then and play the music?

Re: Starting at a New Club
Good job on your new job. How is he as far as music selection. Are you open to play what you feel at this one?
Re: Starting at a New Club
What city will you be working in?
Re: Starting at a New Club
The club is in Daytona Beach, which really could use a cool club to work in, and for the customers, too--to be treated with real respect, beyond just pandering shamelessly, and poorly, to outmoded ideas of their musical preference.
There is one great club here called Lollipops but it is so huge that no individual attention can be given to dancers, its assembly line stuff--3 at a time on stage, little room for artistic efforts there. Great money, but lots of fights, and among other limitations, the DJ has to stay in the booth (understandable rule there), and there are like 20 guys in line to work.
Supposedly I was next but I didn't go in there when the fat guy with the toupe was fired, then hired to replace me after I reluctantly gave notice at the club I was so mad about. The girls there--those who haven't left yet--hate him already. And they don't have my number (my stupidity), so I blew it. But not really...
This new club is the right size so that I can both work the crowd and lavish the dancers with individual care, which I'd rather do anyway. I really like the manager, he seems very cool, for a change, but we haven't started working together yet (it opens on the 19th). The graphics and artwork have by far the most class of any club I have seen in this town (I'm an artist so like that, and it can have significance beyond the surface).
He seems like he is smart enough to realize that if the woman is going to deliver a devastating performance to Enigma, and the customers are very likely to appreciate that, and have been happy and generous thus far, Enigma it should be, by God...
