Re: portable stripper pole
Hi Sapphire,
i have a glossy brass pole inside my home. It went through my wood (easy with wood.) floor to the next level. It also swings with me.
I can't tell you how to install it, because i had my floor drilled and a kinda platform made around it. I watched them do some of the work. And for the ceiling, it has a hole with a plate around it. All kinds of "Do Dads" keep it up on the platform and ceiling.
Sorry not much for instaling one, but i can say i had started with a chrome pole awhile back...hated it. Now i have the brass, that swings around. It is fantastic!!!! And holds up to my roomates weight, he's no small guy. There must be a website out there to tell how! Or have the pole installed by a profesional. I paid for one, i did not want a quick dangerous job from just anyone. Pamela..sorry i could not get into details.

I was just checking out stripperpole.com because I have really been wanting to install a pole in my garage and I thought, "wow what better than a portable pole!" Then I realized that these poles are either chrome or powder coated steel. I thought these materials were no good for pole tricks. Has anybody tried one of these "portable poles?" Should I just go to Home Depot and get a brass flagpole? How the heck would I install it on a concrete floor?
there is some info here

Re: portable stripper pole
My dad works at Home Depot, and he said that depending on which one you went to, they could recommend an Installer for it.

Thanks everyone for the tips; I think I'll start at Home Depot. And Leigh_Landon, try this one:
Re: portable stripper pole
There was another thread similar to this one. I mentioned a website called www.platinumstages.com
You can buy a free standing portable pole there that has a 4ft. sq. stage too. It doesn't come fully assembled of course, but they are very easy to set up. There's no attaching it to the floor or ceiling either so you don't have to mess up your place trying to do that if you're not handy with tools. I know I'm not. ;)
Re: portable stripper pole
By all the laws of physics, the base would have to be weighted down pretty heavily unless the user was a hundred pounds or less. I would love to get a portable pole as the one I have used required a great deal of effort to install, and would require as great an effort to move; however, I don't believe it to be possible that any device could withstand the strain of a 175 pound man going off on it and be easily portable at the same time, but maybe I'm wrong...
You can get muffler pipe very cheaply, 40-50 bucks maybe, and if you have any mechanical aptitude greater than mine, install it without too much trouble. Make sure you anchor it firmly at the TOP, as this is where most of the stress will occur. Ours was bolted firmly to a beam in the attic, but the plaster around the top still came loose. Stainless steel sucks, I almost busted my head open on one of those the first time I tried it. Keep really big men and women from playing on the thing too much or all your effort could go to waste, and a big hole in the ceiling to boot. But you know, if you could fasten maybe 300 lbs at the bottom securely (lead weights like they have in the gym ought to work), all that work in the attic might be unnecessary. Anyone who has tried a portable pole and had bigger people do serious tricks on it, please advise...
