Either you're a dancer or not. Don't cop out and be a waitress. Go for the money girl.
I'm bored stiff today, so I'm going back scooping up some of the O-O-O-O-O-L-D questions and running my mouth (fingers?) with my two-cents-worth....
I've known girls who started out as waitresses just to get the feel of the club then moved into dancing. I've known a COUPLE of girls who started out dancing then moved into bartending, in both cases due to an ankle injury. (I've never known a girl who was a dancer then moved into waitressing).
One girl I knew was a waitress at a club and had a GREAT personality for dancing but didn't want to put up with the hassle. ANYWAY, one night (her club was one of those where you didn't have to get licenced -- just show up and peel) they had a HUGE influx of convention guys, plenty of waitresses, and a shortage of dancers. Guess what? The manager asked her to dance, and after a couple of beers, she got up the courage and up on the stage she went! She was a little embarassed at first, made some good tips, and went back to her waitress gig the next night, no worse for wear.
So, what would I do? I've never waitressed a day in my life. Doubt I could put up with it. I'd rather dance than carry a tray.
Wow!! i have to agree with Lapman on that reply. I can't se me being a waitress, even if it was topless. I love dancing far too much.

TaiBaby, at a lot of clubs I have been to, the waitresses had to put up with 90% of the same crap the dancers did. The only difference? The waitresses had more clothes on, and less $$ in their pockets. The dancers? Less clothes, more $$....and they waitresses waited on THEM.
Usually it seems the only reason girls waitress at all is because of a body issue.

on the other hand, I've been in clubs where the waitresses actually had an advantage over the dancers in that they were allowed to do private dances the same as the dancers were, BUT, they had a much greater opportunity to sniff out potential private dance customers from across the bar than any individual dancer could, AND they didn't have to deal with the "distraction" of having to break away from a potential private dance customer to go up and dance on stage.
I have also worked in a club where the waitresses were allowed to do private dances, and did extremely well. Guys get to see dancers without their clothes whether they buy a dance or not, they can just watch the stage show. However, waitresses must usually wear a semi-conservative uniform, and the only way that a guy can see her without her clothes is to take her for a dance. This makes guys willing to pay even more than the normal price for a dance.
yup- in our club, the waitresses can go to the champagne lounge, as well , making $125/50min - and they aren't required to go topless, either. (as long as the customer is aware that they don't intend to...)
But if you are comfortable waitressing first, then do it - but sometimes it's hard to xfer to dancing if you stay at the same club. maybe you should waitress at one club, and make the move to another club to dance - I have a friend who actually did that, and did quite well.
