Skits=theme costume + props? Ask your mgmt what they're really looking for. A lot of times it's just a way to encourage girls to "dance better." They mean well, but sometimes lack the vocabulary or production experience to convey what they want. As far as the sailor costume goes, if you wanna round up 3 other girls and do a military-theme number, Steve Jones' "Freedom Fighter" comes to mind. Keep in mind (for mgmt, becasuse they may not be doing so) that this type of thing no workee so good if the songs are arbitrarily cut at a point before they actually fade as recorded, or if your DJs can't mix without butchering...
I always bring the house down with my "Hot for Teacher" set. I wear a black pin stripe suit with black fishnet thigh highs, put my hair in a bun, glasses and a ruler. If there is a school girl in the house (and the club allows two girl shows) it really revs up the audience. I also always spank the guys (with the ruler) at the tip rail until they tip me. Second song is "Smokin in the Boys room" or "School's out for summer" David Lee Roth actually came into my club when I was doing this set and he tipped me VERY well onstage.
I also have a nurse theme (Dr Feelgood and Bad Medicine)
a cop (Cops theme Bad Boys and Breaking the law)
a firefighter (I feel safe in NY City and Fire)
a St Pauli Girl (Have a drink on Me)
a Cowboy (La Grange, Wild Wild West, and Keep your hands to yourself [Kid Rock's Cowboy song is already overplayed])
a pirate (Black Magic Woman)
and my favorite, the nun (highway to hell and hells bells) In fact, that was how I met Pryce and GirlFriday....I told them to look for the nun!
I got most of these costumes from Forplaycatalog.com The most important thing is to remember is to match your music to the outfit and use props. I've seen so many cute school girls who just went up and danced to techno or trance....which is fine, but the set could have been so much better with Rag Doll, Rock the Cradle of Love, or Like a Virgin
Hope this helps!

thank you so much. any other ideas are truly appreciated
Rag Doll rocks for the schoolgirl thing. So does a lot of the stuff off the Faculty movie soundtrack...
One set I do that gets very good response isn't so much a costume set as a mood-thing, but really classy looking black velvet lingerie with a jazz/soul/blues set seems to work with the older guys with the money. Looks nice, the music seems to be more their dig, and you can slow down a bit and work the mojo (which does not necessarily equate with just bouncing the boobs and shaking the butt).

You asked for interesting & unusual so I got one for ya. A friend & I were at the mall yesterday, and we had to stop and gawk at a wonder woman costume in some storefront, it was very nice, leather boots, tiara, gold lasso, the whole bit, no cheepo halloween BS. Us, being ex-comic geeks, got a real kick out of it. It'll never replace the mainstays of nurses, french maids, and school girls, but any superhero outfit (supergirl, spidergirl, batgirl) would be original.
Also, me being a mechanic, it would be kinda cool to see a dancer do a number in a mechanics jumpsuit or uniform. Hope this helps. ;D
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I got another one I have to share. Anyone on here remember Rammstein's video for Sonne? Snow White never looked so good! There is an article in this month's Maxim that made me remember it.
Yea, I saw that article in Maxim too, Snow White or even Sleeping Beauty, now that's H-O-T!!!

I just did a really neat one with yellow construction rubber overalls, and yellow raincoat and rubber ducks. I danced to its raining men... AND i made a shitload$ ;D ;D ;D$$$$ ANd it was way fun.
I have a FBI suit that a alot of costumer ask me to wear and of course i have the handcuffs go with them.
I have on occasion brought the house down with my devil body suit! It's red with a tail, sexy stockings and a pitchfork.
Music: Black magic woman, By Santana.
I have seen a secretary show with the music, ' take this job and shove it' By Johnny Paycheck i believe.
They can be fun.. but i normaly am not into them. '
*grin* Once, I did a private show in Ohio for a bunch of people that were in town for the Firestone Country Club Golf Tournament.....real big deal up here, Tiger Woods and everything. I wore argyle socks, kept my glasses on, and had a big sweater on. Nothing really elaborate, just enough to make it look like I cared.
