Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
Hi all, This is my first holiday season dancing and things seem to have slowed down here (vegas) quite a bit, some girls say that is normal, some say the opposite, I thought I would ask you guys and see what you all have to say. I don't know if it is just my club and maybe I should try another, or if people are spending their money on other stuff this time of year, or, have I lost a front tooth and don't realize it yet ;D LOL...but thats how I feel :(
Thanks for any input
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
I have danced two Christmas seasons and found that, in general, business is slower, BUT the weekend before Christmas is usually pretty good because guys get Christmas bonuses and such. Obviously guys who have families will spend more money on kids and wives than usual, so that sucks for us dancers. :P

The older customers don't do out of town as much in december if at all and the christmas buying cuts down their disposable incomes, plus where I worked on any holiday the married older guys can't get away so all you have to work with in the club is the hanger outer young guys.
if you normally work 20 days a month and average $5000, in December 20 days might be worth $2800.
the second week of january things might pick up again and you may have a few hit and miss days this month but you have to work a lot so you are there when the money is there to make.
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
Tina has it right. Christmas shopping for families, the obligatory corporate parties and the wait for the bonus will hurt club business. Today's unemployment statistics appear to have cost Sec. of Treasury Paul O'Neill his job. When guys get nervous about the economy during Christmas, club money is slow. When the bonuses hit, look out--upscale guys will spend a big chunk of it on you.
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
I have no idea why, but Christmas is when I make the most money. So far (since after T'giving),I've been making in one day , what i usually make in 3 days. This was the same way last year, and I'm still at the same club! Of course, this year is a tad slower than last, but the differenct isn't drastic.
Perhaps it's the areas/regions that differ....though here, everyone seems to be very jolly and fairly generous during the holidays. I get tipped more, and there are more people coming in after xmas parties.
January, however, is slow. 1st quarter for businesses, so they keep their expenses low;everyone is hurting from spending so much cash during the holidays, many people take a vacation, and the winter doldrums set in.
powerpuff- I have a girlfriend who goes to vegas 4x's /year to dance. she says that in Feb it really picks up and she does quite well. Is this true? I might go with her....
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
DOWN !! Way below average.
By this time last year for the month of Dec. I had already made $1920 Week 1. Unfortunatley, this year I have only made $895 working the same # of days in Week 1.
I work in NY and I know weather plays a huge role in income potential, just Thurs. we had twice as much snow than we had the entire winter last year.
Hopefully things pick up by mid month if not I'll just have to work longer shifts.
Good Luck Ladies and Hang in there!
Tori

Jacqueline, if your pics do you justice then I doubt even a depression can hurt your income. ;)
As to this holiday season we are entering it with the worst economy and GNP since 1994, expect that it will be a tough season girls.
On the lighter side if you have cash and you are liquid you can make a killing right now as everything from cars to homes can be had at very reduced prices.
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
I agree with Jacqueline that that the three most important things about seasonal earning power are location, location and location. In December there are pockets of Tourist/Shopping areas that can do quite well (Jacqueline I take it you work near the tourist district in Manhattan?). There are also a few bright spots business wise where Christmas bonuses are still alive and well (or do you work closer to Wall St.?). However, for most of the country, rising unemployment has devastated the spendable cash for people who have lost their jobs, and many people who still do have jobs are now being more conservative about their spending since they know they might be next on the pink slip list. To top this off, in some areas where there is still some money floating around, club action is being subdued by new ordinances or stepped up enforcement (Vegas, parts of Texas, Cal, and Fla).
Even WebCam is being affected by seasonal slowdown. December is traditionally a time for spending money on Christmas gifts and spending time with family, and this year is no exception. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to sell housewives on the idea of buying a '1 hour gift certificate' to my WebCam for their horny husbands as a great Christmas gift idea!!! (yeah, right!)
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
Hi ladies,
i don't notice a slow down at all during the holidays. I dance in Florida, and alot of "snow birds" come down for the winter...so i have a great time..new faces and more business. I actually find during spring break for a couple weeks it slows for me. And i have danced at quite a few clubs around Florida. Still do jump around! The clubs i worked at pack em in, but they may not stay as long, however they do still come and pay for dances. regulars and out of staters!
Pamela :)
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
Thanks, Q, you're a sweetheart ;)
yes, mel, i'm near Wall St. , so much is contingent on location! everything is corporate america - mainly finance - and a lot of customers with clients, etc. Otherwise a lot of xmas after-parties migrate over to our club, and many people visiting for business from overseas or just from around the nation. I know this to be true for our club - but I suppose that around the country, things have the tendency to slow down. Friday after thanksgiving I made double what I usually do on a friday - and I'm not much of a hustler type - I had expected it to be very slow, being that it was the day after Thanksgiving, but since then it's been a good streak.
(knock on wood)
Most definitely, though I agree with you Melonie that spending has cut down. For example, regular will come in who usually gets 5 dances now only gets 2...Another customer usually goes to the lounge for 4 hours and is now only going one...And it's hurting the girls income, indeed.
I guess we all have to grin & bear it - for me, if it's a super-slow week I'll add on a day and work 4 days instead of 3 in that week. Which isn't too bad.
It's not even predictable anymore - what we think will be a good day is slow - and slow days are profitable, etc. It's amazing....

I don't know if this is true ??? but I hope so ;D
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
Mel,
I loved this!
"Now all I have to do is figure out a way to sell housewives on the idea of buying a '1 hour gift certificate' to my WebCam for their horny husbands as a great Christmas gift idea!!! (yeah, right!) "
Have you every tried doing webcam in the couples section? If you have a SO willing to do so with you, you may have a better chance of getting those extra shows & since there is another person in there with ya you do less work and have a good time too!
Good $ luck to you all during the holiday season!
Oh yea, btw Mel, I was in Satin Dolls (The Bing) recently & I was AMAZED at the lack of skill all around by the dancers. One dancer did a bit of polework - that was it. The place wasn't packed but for someone who knows how to work the crowd from inside the bar could clean up!
Are most of the dancers in clubs in that area the same? Sure has changed in the 3 years I've been out of the clubs! I couldn't understand how a club that is a tourist attraction could have dancers booked that (literally) did not know how to push their boobs together to accept a tip, one dancer walked around and only accepted tips in her hand, another walked around and would accept one dollar in the side of her thong and moved on. No one actually danced.
I was "trained" in the Northeast and was very shocked to see dancers who had no clue how to hustle the bar.
What is the dealo with that? Are these the best girls they can get? ???
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
Lodi is really cracking down on ANY adult business. They probably dont wanna get arrested for taking the tips in their tits. If this place got raided, it would generate way too much publicity being the Bing and all.
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
We have a lot of snowbirds here in Phoenix too. I've noticed I'm doing better on weekdays (out of town businessmen who mix the business with golf and girls) than on the weekends (local guys who are spending more money on their families)
Overall, this year isn't as busy as last year. I think what is helping me is the fact that I am super motivated at this new club; while the girls who've been there for a while sit around bitching that their regular customer is MIA.
powerpuff, where do you work in Vegas? I was going to come up last weekend for the cowboys, but I'm glad I didn't!! Don't worry, things pick back up in Vegas during CES in January and are good til Mem Day. I hear all the clubs are dead now...which makes me wonder what kind of impact Sapphires will make when it opens.
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
Britney, boy, are you lucky you didn't make the trip up for the cowboys, or should I say cowwusses, we only had one in our club and he almost started crying :'(when a girl took his belt off and whacked his ass with it. ;D otherwise they all must have been spending their spare time with their cows and gee gee's.
Anyway I work at Jaguars and I'm seeing girls trying their luck there from cheetas and the rhino and a few other clubs hoping the grass will be greener over the fence, but the grass is dead here too. I was thinking of putting in an app at sapphires but I hear there are tons of girls applying there so I don't know if I should stay where I am or jump ship. :-/
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
The days of CONSISTENT money in Las Vegas are over!!!!
Pre-1999 was the best time to work there. Too many girls are looking for fortune there and this business is trending down everywhere. I know lots of girls who have experienced $40 nights there in the best clubs as there are too many girls and guys are slow to buy.
There are no cities where a girl is going to make $400-$1000 a night CONSISTENTLY with no under $100 nighsANYWHERE anymore. And since the managers control theirshifts there they can let you work or say they don't need you at their discretion or tell you that if you want to work you have to grease their palms better.
With more dancers than there are guys buying dances money will always e like a rollercoaster there.
I'm not saying that good nights won't happen , they will but you might make $700 tonight and you friend $50, and vice versa tomorrow. The majority of the danrs who work the crowd well won't all make $500 or more a night anymore, Christmas or not.
If you can accept that reality and will put in 4-5 nights a week knowing that some will be decent and some with hardly any earnings you can hang in Vegas without any major stress. The grass won't be greener on the other side there. The money will be up and down everywhere all the time, that you can count on. And when events come to town you will have more girls to compete with which will add to the misery.

"Now all I have to do is figure out a way to sell housewives on the idea of buying a '1 hour gift certificate' to my WebCam for their horny husbands as a great Christmas gift idea!!! (yeah, right!) "
true that... but, Mel, what you might consider is promoting a gift certificate to your webcam to men for the other men in their lives... brothers, uncles, cousins, friends, their buddies at work, their buddies at their neighborhood bar, etc. men are so much harder to buy for then women. my brothers and guy friends are always asking me for suggestions on what to get the other men in their lives for Christmas (and i have to admit, i'm always hard-pressed to come up with a good idea). time and again i always see guys buying the other guys in their lives a bottle of good booze or something else unimaginative for a gift.
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
this will be my fourth christmas dancing and yes december sucks...you see more cat fights in the changeroom in december than you ever will..this year i was smart..i finished all my shopping before december ..i kept saying it the last 2 but i never did and this time i'm glad because i dont have that look of desperation when i go in,,customers sense that too! so now i can go to work and somewhat relax and have fun without having to worry about the bills....one more reason to save for a rainy day ::)
merry christmas
hollyday
Re: Christmas season business.... UP or DOWN
"Money"'s post is 100% correct that the borough of Lodi is cracking down left and right on any sort of adult entertainment, including the bikini club entertainment of Satin Dolls. Technically, taking titty tips is against the new local ordinance, as are just about every other classic titty bar moneymaking technique. This is the reason that many of the customers have moved on to other clubs in a different borough where they can still be "entertained", quickly followed by the better looking Satin Dolls dancers in search of their lost income. In fact, Lodi's ordinance is responsible for one good change - the opening of another new club less than 3 miles away (just across the borough line btw!). The "replacement dancers" you ran into at Satin Dolls appear to be girls who either didn't get the word about the changes or who couldn't make it past the audition in nearby clubs.
As far as doing the boy/girl thing on IFriends, yes it would work but it would also affect my more traditional modeling and internet career. I have made it a point never to do XXX material for public consumption, because while XXX opens some doors in regard to income it closes other doors at the same time in regard to diverse opportunities.
