cost about $2500 - was definitely worth it - yes I smile a lot more and it translates into higher earnings!
The teeth are fake or bonded?
I heard veneers could cost 1000 a tooth, movie stars do this, they also only last 15 years.my sister had her front teeth bonded to make them look straighter,it was like 3000.
I paid close to $15000 for ten teeth. :o They last a lifetime, there is a guarantee. They are not really fake teeth, they are put over your real teeth and are 50 times better than bonding which doesn't last very long and doesn't have the transparancy of a veneer. I like 'em ;D
Wow Melonie, that sounds cheap. How many teeth did you get done?Quote:

I definitely want veneers so bad. I probably need 6 - 8 teeth done.
the $2500 was for my four upper front teeth.
Thanks guys. Veneers it is.
what are veneers? what do they do?
I just thought you can bleach your teeth but does that strip the enamel?
I've heard of these thing but don't know if they are gimmicks. My teeth are fine but I'd love to have them whiter!
it's not a whitening technique. It's something to make your teeth of the perfect size and position.
I've thought about it too, but I heard $1000 per tooth, and that seems very epensive because I don't hate my smile TAHT much.
WTF?? $1,000 per tooth??
Heck, I think I like my smile a whole lot more now!
I don't really hate my smile either, but I'm getting older, and a smile that's bright and stands out is very youthful. Besides, it's a good investment in a long term, even for after you stop dancing and regular life, as it protects your teeth from daily wear and tear, and is also tax deductible (so says my accountant). BTW, I've worked with a girl who had all her front teeth capped and they looked sooo fake! Bleaching is like $500 here, but results are temporary, unless you never drink tea, coffee, wine, eat berries, etc, and it may hurt while you get it done, too.
I don't think bleaching strips off your tooth enamel. My teeth already suffer from enamel erosion and I doubt my dentist would have given me the bleaching trays and gel if it did. The Opalescence bleaching gel gives quicker and more dramatic results than Crest white strips. Unless of course you get veneers. Instant brightnessQuote:

I've heard of the laser whitening but don't know anything about that.
it does seem to be a better investment than implants, provided your smile could use some work. Now I'm thinking about it!
actually, they have some stuff you can buy in drug stores that can make your teeth up to 10 shades whiter, the stuff I used did,I am lucky,I have nice shaped, white teeth, but if all your problem is ,is the color,I would try bleaching first, the veneers can get stained too I have heard,I saw them give people with really bad teeth a whole mouth full,on extreme makeover, the cosmetic dentists did say they only lasted 20 years I think and if you cant afford new onws at that time ,your out of luck, because they file your real teeth to a point underneath and put the veneers on.
good point (pun intended) at least pheobesmeow got a guarantee.
also wanted to point out there is a difference between veneers and composite resin bonding. Major difference in price and longevity. I had my front teeth bonded, I don't know, 10 years ago? to correct the enamel erosion also to fix a slight gap between my top front teeth. My teeth looked bee-yoo-ti-full. You absolutely could not tell there was any cosmetic dentistry done. But now they are slightly stained (my girlfriend, much to my horror, informed me I had lipstick on my teeth; it was a stain :-[) so now that I've bleached my teeth I'm going back to have them rebonded. Bonding does not bleach but they can match it exactly to your tooth shade.
For some reason I thought veneers could be bleached, no?
edit: I had my top 4 teeth bonded. not the whole top.
There are different qualities of veneers. Some only last 20 or so years, some a lifetime. You get what you pay for. The ones that don't last quite so long are usually made in office with a special machine and the lifetime ones are made in a lab individually by someone who works with porcelain. What veneers can do basically is create a completely different smile. Almost anything you want, you can design it. I chose the "Hollywood" shape, but there's quite a few other shapes to choose from, also they can widen your arch so you show more teeth when you smile. I had my gums lasered as well so I don't show gums when I smile. Also the ones I got are stain resistant. The temporary bonds they put on your teeth while the veneers are being made are not stain resistant however.
Thnk god my teeth are straight. (now) will discolour at times. I just go every six months and get my teeth blasted! (teeth cleaning.)
At home i mix a tad of peroxide with my tooth paste and the dentist says that is fine. My teeth are white, but not that "house paint white" it looks funny on some people i think. Our teeth should look clean and white. But not pure un-natural white i believe.
Just my opinion.
PS 2 front teeth are capped, and they clen very nice at the dentist.

I don't think dentists even make picket fence white teeth. It looks too unnatural. Don't porcelain veneers come in different shades, to match your unveneered teeth? I mean, not everybody gets all of there teeth done. I think most get the top 4, like Mel.
Yea the teeth that show the most are the ones you get get done. 6 also have been done. (so some friends say they have 6, i believe it.)
But you can get them in a variety of colours. I have seen the model for them. Very very white was the lightest. And of course they had the colours that are a yellowish tint...Go figure. And these are Veneers. Because you have to please a variety of people.
But the very white was way to white.
Pamela
ooh,I want the yellow ones,ha ha,just couldnt resist.
I got my veneers almost 5 years ago. I had my 4 top front teeth done. I had a small gap in my front two teeth that drove me crazy. Me and my mother are kind of perfectionists. Little things like that drive us crazy. (ya it's bad I know. I'll be the first to admit I'm too hard on myself :P) I got the other 2 teeth done next to my front 2 done because the dentist and my mom said it looked more natural. All my other teeth were perfect but my front two teeth just drove me crazy! I got it done over Christmas break in 9th grade and had to were the temporary ones while mine were being made in a lab. The dentist decided to go one shade lighter than my other teeth so when I smile the 1st four (the 1st ones you see in my smile) look great. Also he threw in the idea of bleaching also. So I got the first 4 top teeth done plus the bleaching and that ran my parents almost $3,000 bucks. Well worth the money though! I love them and I notice I smile alot more. People are always complimenting my smile, It's great. All they ever ask is "Did you wear braces when you were younger?" And I say "No" proudly ;) People don't even realize their veneers. In fact nobodys ever asked if they were!!! Every one assumes their natural, and that's the best part. The funny thing is, is when I went back to school after Christmas break in my new veneers people didn't even really notice because they looked so natural. All my close friends noticed and wanted some too. It would've been nice to have the insurance pay for it but they said my teeth were fine and it's cosmetic. I love mine and I smile alot. They're a great investment! Except yes, they do chip be careful!!! ;D
Actually mine were almost $4,000. I was watching tv when I wrote that. ::)
I just scheduled an appt with a cosmetic dentist....I want veneers now!
LOL - that's one of the downsides to this site - I keep wanting more and more when I hear about all of the options available...I really am happy with the way I look, yet I could easily drop tens of thousands of dollars if I had the money!
