Pedicures
I made my bimonthly visit to the Wellness Spa today for my usual waxing and got a spa pedicure too. Absolutely fabulous. I've decided this is going to become a monthly treatment for me, but I know I need to maintain upkeep in between sessions.
So you ladies out there who like to really take care of the details, what sort of products and treatments do you use for pretty piggies? My feet are so calloused and rough, and I do have a pumice stone, but what are some more intricate details I should attend to on my feet? Certain lotions, creams, nailpolishes that you like best? I'd like to know! :)

Re: Pedicures
You're feet should improve as you go to get your pedicures. The polish may chip though, you may want to go every 2 weeks. I like the product line, Bare Foot, I think theres another one... Kiss my feet, or something like that, that my mom really likes. Sometimes I use a pumice in the shower if my feet feel rough in a spot or something.

Re: Pedicures
i tell my clients to use a foot paddle of dry feet it removes the most callus rough side first then smooth. you can also use a exfloliant in the tub also put cream on feet and sleep in sox. the best is using the paddle on dry feet i use this in my salon. i also have acrylic tonails keeps you from getting ingrowns, holds polish longer, makes your toenails perfert, if you get them in pink and white you don't even have to use a color just topcoat. i want a pedi give them all the time never get one!

Re: Pedicures
You HAVE to get Diamancel foot file. No other file comes close. It's $48, but it's forever, and is incredible. Will remove calluses on the most forsaken of feet. It uses real diamonds (well, it better for the price, hehe).
Foot cream - one by Philosophy is great, but just slathering on vaseline and wearing cotton socks to bed is nice. I file feet, then soak, use salt scrub up to my ankle, and then slather cream on and put on socks. I love my feet now. I do same for hands, sans file, and put on cotton gloves.

Re: Pedicures
I got it at Saks. Didn't know bliss carried it. I have #11, tough buffer. Got the diamond nail file, too. For $24 it's not too special, tho.

Re: Pedicures
In between pedicures, you should use a pumice stone. They are inexpensive and all natural. They will remove all of the rough spots on your feet, leaving them nice and soft.

Re: Pedicures
Hey I was just thinking, when you guys get your feet done, do you let them use the "callous remover/shaver" on your feet? I've always known that this isn't a good procedure to have done in your pedicure, since it increases risk of infection, but last time I couldnt' help myself. I had them use this scraper, and I was just amazed to see all the skin coming off. My feet were super soft after that. I may get that done again, but only ever blu moon

Re: Pedicures
cinamon its called a credo blade it is illigal in most states i don't like them because it can have a resiual sp? Affect when you remove all that skin and callous your body produces extra for protection. you need a little it is your bodys way of protection

Re: Pedicures
I have never had a pedicure where they did not use the callous shaver to pare down rough heels. I bought one myself to use at home but stopped after an incident where I was overzealous and cut my heel quite badly. I read somewhere that removing that dead skin was the best thing for foot odor because that's where all the stink gets trapped.
I am surprised to hear that the process is dangerous and actually illegal in some places - what is the risk? (other than cutting too deep of course)

Re: Pedicures
Megan, how expensive is a spa pedicure at the Wellness Spa? It has been my experience that spas charge a lot more than a little family run Asian place. I pay $25 for a spa pedicure there, and they do the best (and they have the massaging chairs, gotta love 'em)! My SO got me a certificate at a spa once for a massage, seaweed wrap, and pedicure at Bally's on the strip. The pedicure alone was $80 and it was just a basic pedicure! She hooked me up once she found out I was a local though.

Re: Pedicures
The spa pedicure is 50 bucks, but I believe it's worth every penny. I've gone to a couple of the family run Asian places for manicures and such before, and wasn't really happy. Plus the town I live in is only about 25,000 people. Not a whole lot of options. Plus my spa pedicure includes a lot of massage and a paraffin foot wax (love it!) 'bout an hour long deal. Plus the girl who works with me is getting to know me really well and my job, so I really like going there.

Re: Pedicures
infections, deformities things like that also i have found the callus comes back faster. the credo is a easy way to remove callus but i just prefer a paddle my opion and i guess most states too

Re: Pedicures
Interesting - is infection caused by improperly sterilized equipment? I wonder if I requested that they not use the shaver, but used the paddle instead (I've never been offered the option), if I would still get good results? Should I expect it to be more expensive then, because it takes longer?

Re: Pedicures
no way they shouldn't charge you more if they try tell them they are crazy. With good product that cotain aha's and glycolic acids it doesn't really take that much longer if you use good products and work them in (wich is nice cause they are rubbing you feet to get the product in) just takes some elbow grease!! i'm very picky with pedi's cause mine last 60-70 min and i do a lot of massage . that's what i like so that's what i do. also usually they us a new razor every time (god i hope so) but it doesn't take much to cut a little to deep and if you are diabetic then they should never use it. also think if they cut just a little to deep even if you didn't get an infection but you feet hurt and you were out of work a few days..........well that alota money. it can be hard to judge what would make one person sore and not another. i deal in pedicure's like what meagan is talking about.

Re: Pedicures
Yeah, my girl told me I should stay away from scraping it off. Always leave some there, especially the way mine callous up. I think your feet should have some callous on them no matter what, just seems too painful to keep starting over.
