interest in weight loss support group
I am one of those people that has weight issues. I've never been able to eat what I want and gain when I slack off, which I've been doing lately....somehow I put on 15 lbs since I started dancing. (okay, I know how!)
Are there other girls in the same boat who want to do this with me? One is good, but more is better....so we can talk about our struggles and successes and all that?
I'm starting a diet today on ediets. I've done this one before and I was successful on it, so I'm going back.
Let me know if you guys have any interest in doing this with me.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
i would like to be in something like this..although I'm not overweight...just got a tiny bit more than i'd like on my stomach and on my thighs..maybe like 6 pounds or so...

Re: interest in weight loss support group
I'll do it with you Emily. I'm not overweight but I'm horribly lazy and I definitely can't eat what I want. Since I broke my foot I haven't been getting to the gym and I have been slacking off with eating healthily. It's hard for me to make something that's healthy when it's so much easier and faster to go to McDonald's. I want to lose at least 10 lbs, slim down and tone up. PM me

Re: interest in weight loss support group.
I'll join you ;D I've been following the South Beach Diet for about 12 days now and am seeing results. I have also been working out according to the Body-for-life exercise plans, to help me jump start my weight loss. I have a birthday in late November, and want that to be my half way point on my way to 16% body fat and about 125 pounds. Right now I'm about 21% body fat and 136 pounds. I'm 5'7".
In this business you need every edge you can get, and a very fit body can make a huge difference in income compared to a pretty good body.
Let me know what you decide about this group, I would love to join.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
I think it'll probably be easier to keep this thread open instead of PMing so we can keep updated on our progress. I also got a PM from someone who hasn't posted here, and hopefully she'll join this thread....or maybe some other place to post?
So far I lost 1 pound out of my 20 I want to lose (15, plus 5 for good measure!)
What I want to do is lose the weight and then go to a better club. I'm too fat for the top club, imo. I'm 5'9" so the weight doesn't look too bad, but I feel like a fatty and I'd rather not do the lipo thing.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
I've been slowly losing weight steadily since around August when I started getting serious about the gym. But I've been slacking lately because of my broken foot, I've been trying to eat right but it's hard to come up with food ideas.
I have a system, I eat healthily all week and on Sundays, I go out to eat with my family after church and I'm allowed to eat something bad, like fast food. I weigh myself every Saturday.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
just wondering what diet you on emily?
-
Re: interest in weight loss support group
ediets.com diet
so far down 5 pounds (almost 2 weeks)
-
Re: interest in weight loss support group
Emily did you just have to pay for ediets.com???
Shayden :-*
-
Re: interest in weight loss support group
yeah, I paid. It's $5/week, which isn't that bad. It's a little extra for the fitness program too.
They tell you exactly what to eat, which I like. There are also a lot of support groups, which is nice. Live chat, lots of information on nutrition and fitness. You can tailor your diet to be low-carb, vegetarian, low-fat....so that you can cook your own meals or have convenience meals. You can plan for fast food and eating out. It's very structured but flexible at the same time.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
I am definately in need of a support group for weight loss. I recently moved my whole life to Florida to continue school and know no one and nothing about the area... weight seems to be sneaking up on me here help!

Re: interest in weight loss support group
that's great Emily and Shayden that you are both losing wieght, I've slowly been sheding some pounds, I feel like for the amount I work out and how much I watch what I eat I should be losing more....and it's making me more and more frustrated!!
-
Re: interest in weight loss support group
Don't get frustrated! One time I had been working out for awhile and eating right and getting slow results, then all of a sudden, it caught up to me. I started losing weight.
Also, if you have been doing the same workout for awhile, you might have reached a plateau. That's happened to me before too.
You might find that if you change something small in your diet and workout, you will start seeing more results. You are already doing well it sounds like.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
I can't exactly work out right now but I do make it to the gym to swim. We have an indoor heated pool ;D But I've realized I have been slacking on eating right for a while now. When I first got on this diet, I was kicking ass and now it seems like everyday I'm like ok just this once I'll have McDonald's. So it's back to grind stone for me, I will kick this extra weight off. Seems I've hit a plateau.
Anyone got any meal ideas that don't require too much cooking? Coming from me who can burn water.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
Does anyone want to re-start this thread? A support group for each other to go over what kinds of work-outs we're doing and diets..... I know I need to drop 15-20 lbs before january? Anyone up for it?
-
Re: interest in weight loss support group
I think it's a good idea. I've been trying to take better care of myself and have lost like 18 lbs in the past year. It would have been more, but I had a terrible job that I JUST finally quit, but I was using my bad work days as an excuse to pig out or skip the treadmill. (As a matter of fact, 5 of those lbs have dropped off in the 3 weeks I've been at my new job alone!). I was just thinking that I need more motivation to get off my ass and lose another 18 or 20 lbs.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
May I join you, Crissychan and Hello_Kitty27? - I would love to drop 15-20 lbs before Januarry:)
How you want to manage this tread - just post current weight, goal weigh, your high and then talk about whatever issues comes along? eg. - healthy food, "workouts that work", etc?
ok, here it goes:
CW 122
GW 112
5.3ft
Currently I take 9 pills of HydroxylCut + 2 pills of B12 a day:)
Trying not to eat any sweets or "junk" food. For breakfast I would have 1/2 pack of Oatmeal 75kcal. and then after classes I eat the other half of the pack of oatmeal... and in the evening my diet is ruined cause I cook dinner for my bf....
I also walk at least 3 miles a day on university campus.. and do 100 situps in the morning.
What are you "fat killing" plan, dear? :D

OMFG does anyone not see the advertisement at the bottom of my signature? "Need a workout buddy" was developed strictly for the girls of SW because we've already had this conversation about having a group such as this.
If you ladies are interested in joining, let me know. We would love to have you, and learn about your aspirations and determination in the process ;)

Re: interest in weight loss support group
Well, for me, personally, I don't have time to go to the gym or anything like that. I basically lost that amount through 'trying' but not really motivating myself to get off my ass. So I figure all I need is motivation to take care of myself more. To be honest, just being here on SW has given me some decent motivation, but my job was dragging me down to hell and back! Anyhow, I personally do not need a workout buddy. Just seeing everyone's stories and sharing my own is really what I need. (I hope!)
I think Antigone has the right idea, at least for me. Crissychan...since you resurrected this, what do you think? Is that how you'd like to go about it?

Re: interest in weight loss support group
Hello_Kitty, it's all the same thing. Most of the members on the group are in different areas anyway. So the likelyhood that they will actually become "buddies" is slim. Hopefully for some I hope it does happen.
Regardless of how you want to lose weight, or gain additional motivation I hope you find it.

Re: interest in weight loss support group
I joined a gym today. I need to tone up and drop 10 or 15 pounds in order to go from an 8 to a 10 and move up to a better club! (Plus just feel better and stronger!) Dieting never works for me. I like to eat and I hate restricting my food in any way. Fortunately I like fruit and vegetables and eat them a lot, but dammit, when I want cheese fries I have to have them! I'll never stay slim and trim unless I work out to compensate for the food.
Now I just have to figure out when I'm going to the gym when I work 13 hours a day and spend 45 minutes driving each way. I'm going to shoot for 4 days a week at an hour a day. Don't know if I'd rather go at night when I'm tired or in the morning when I'm exhausted!

Re: interest in weight loss support group
Ladies, I'm definately in with you. I just had a baby 13 weeks ago. While I am at a healthy weight of 145 for my athletic 5'7" frame, I want to lose 15 pounds before I start dancing again.
I've already lost 26 lbs since my baby was born. I have been working my ass off!!!
I follow a program sinilar to BFL but I do lots more cardio than it suggests. I have figured that my body needs cardio to burn fat. If not, I put on muscle easily but will have blubber covering it up.
