How fast can I....
How fast can I get tone??? I stopped dancing over a year ago(more like a year and a half), cause I gained a few pounds not alot, but enough to make me self concoius(even though I was a popular dancer and made $$)
Well I was about to go back and my mom suddenly passed away, needless to say I didnt go back and wasnt ready for a long time. My moms passing was devestating, I didnt leave the house I didnt go anywhere, do anything, so naturally my weight escalated to an all time high. So now Ive lost most of the weight, but being that I was not too active for a long time I dont have too much muscle tone. So Im thinner but still dont look good. Cellulite is a problem. Im doing the Firm and the Atkins diet. I weigh 107 right now (Im only 4ft 10in) I think I need to get to 100 lbs.
Can I expect toatal body change in about a month if I stay totally dedicated and workout 5 days a week? If not how soon?
I hope there is someone around who is knowledgable of these things.

Re: How fast can I....
I am no expert but somehow muscle memory comes into play. This is to your advantage.
I have been back at the gym 2 weeks and have already had incredible results just by getting back in there, I had taken some time off work too.
One month to lose 7 pounds is very reasonable.
Just change of diet for me resulted in weight loss...then I went back to the gym and did high reps for tone instead of bulk, some alternating cardio (bike - treadmill and stair monster) and I am so pleased and how responsive my body was to it - so if ya -you danced before and were tight n toned before you have something to start with and it may come back just that quick for you.
I dont think you will have any trouble, and I am sure there will be about ten more that will come on here with great advice too -
Good luck, we are rooting for ya!

Re: How fast can I....
4'10" , i don't think 100 is that bad. As long as you firm it. Remember..Muscle weighs more than fat!

Re: How fast can I....
YES! I forgot that for a moment! SO what Pamela is trying to say is watch how you judge your weight loss, because muscle weighs more than fat!
You may be replacing the one over the other as your muscles tone and rebuild and some of your fat is burned away you may not see a drastic change in the numbers on your scale, maybe do the tape measure thingie?
I do both, take tape measurements as well as note the scale numbers, and my biggest tell tale is how my clothes fit and my visual appearance in the mirror.
You'll know - you'll FEEL it!

Re: How fast can I....
Thanks for the replies ladies. Im glad most think it can be done in a month, thats what I aimin for. Im nervous as hell to go back so I wann look good. Im also tanning and whitening my teeth.
I will rely on the tape measure (and how I feel about my general appearance)more than the scale, I know what you mean by that.

Re: How fast can I....
Well I have never in my life owned a scale because that is just not an accurate measure of what kind of shape your body is in! To risk being redundant, muscle weighs alot more than fat but takes up way less space. You can take 2 girls who are the same height and weight and stand them side by side and if one exercises and the other doesn't, you'll see a huge difference in their appearances. I say, throw that damn scale away and don't fret over a measly handful of pounds! The more important concern is how fit you look - if you're worried about being a little out of shape, get in the gym and you'll see real results in about a month if you stick with it 4-5 days a week. In about 2 months you'll probably be looking fan-damn-tastic!

Re: How fast can I....
Ok Im back on track as of yesterday. I really am gonna stick to this. I'll let you all know how I progress. As of today I:
weigh: 110 lbs Its also TOM and I tend to wieigh 2-3 more lbs
at this time
Measure
bust: 34in
waist: 25in
hips: 31.5in
thigh: 22.5 in (big problem area) I maesure my thigh where I had those icky saddlebags which is what Im tryin to lose.
Goal: 100lbs NO Saddlebags, tone muscle to rid cellulite. Firm tummy a little more. Gain strength.
wish me luck :)

Re: How fast can I....
Amaya; I agree the thigh part is a trouble spot, for me its the LAST thing to shrink when I am on a mission!
But our thighs unless a hereditary issue OFTEN are a smidge larger - I think from the shoes we wear the dancing the balance in a table dance required (depending on your stlyle or format) I also found my calves bigger especially from the heels pulling them taught on a regular basis my legs are thee most muscular part on my body - all due to dancing.
ANyway you are gonna do it - it will come back so quick!
Keep going girl! YAY!
LUCK LUCK LUCK! Hell and you'll do it without the luck anyway baby!!! :)

Re: How fast can I....
It depends on what you mean by tone. If you mean definition, body builders take up to a year to get the definition in a muscle.
If you mean weight loss. One or two pounds per week is a safe rate.
I'd think you'd want more strenght training than endurance. Basicly you don't want your muscles to sag but rather be firm. You'd probably want heavier weights and 10-12 reps. as opposed to light weights and high repetitions. Try to give a muscle group at least one days rest. Say like work upper body on even days and lower body on odd days.
Yes, expecting a total body change in one month is unrealistic.
