Tipping the DJ - After Every Song or End of Shift?
How does your club work with regards to dancers tipping the DJ's?
If a DJ isn't part of the tipout that the girls give the house, what monetary amount or % of your take do you give the DJ?
In your club (or experience), do the girls tip the DJ after every set, or do they just hit him once at the end of the night?

End of the night in ninety five percent of clubs. After every set in one club. Pay to hopefully get on stage at least once that night in another club...

agreed, pay once at the end of the night in the vast majority of clubs. DJ tip amount usually averages $10 min $25 max, although some clubs try to force dancers to fork over 10% of their nightly earnings to the DJ.

At the end of the night. I couldnt imagine a club where they have to tip after every song. At my club its $10 or 10%.

At the clubs I've worked in Indy and Louisville it was usually at the end of the shift. Tips ranged from $10 to $20.
The one exception was a club in Indy that had split shifts and I'd have to tip the DJ when he left in the middle of my shift, the full tip out and then tip the later DJ the full tip out at the end of my shift. I hated that and decided on my own to cut both DJs tip out in half. They both complained to the club owner. I stood my ground. The club owner dithered. Both DJs started to mess with me and mysteriously they both got busted for DWI right outside the club, on the same night. After that, the club owner reminded the new DJS who worked for whom.

Luckily, in my club, the minimum tipout for a DJ is $10 at the end of a shift. Which is ok on a good night, but sometimes the DJ leaves with more $$ than the dancers :-X

Mainly end of night, well that had to be done. But i would tip out for a song and me to go on stage at various times of the night. Dj's earn the money. I have a great respect for them, they work hard with music for many hours. At least the ones i have worked with.

In Alaska at the Bush Company we had to tip about 20% of our stage tips after each set but everywhere else I have worked that has a DJ it is at the end of the night and the amount varies from $5 in the big Texas clubs since they have tons of girls and we don't go on stage much to an average of $10 and maybe $15 elsewhere.
Some clubs do require 10% to the DJ at the end of the night.

I just got back from a club in Rhode Island where all the girls tip the DJ 10% at the end of the shift. The club also counts your dances so you pay $1 per dance to the house. By counting your dances the DJ will know whether he is getting his 10%. I would say the DJ was making between $300-500 a shift. There are approximately 8-12 girls working per shift. Some of the DJ's were worth it and others not so. $5 to each bouncer and they also had a $10 dressing room fee. The dressing room was just a tiny room without enough lockers, nothing special. All the girls make money at this club however because the guys get stumbling drunk and they are encouraged to tip when sitting at the stage.

DJ tipout in most of the clubs I worked were $10- $25 min. and that did not include song requests or rotation skip. I tipped $2/$5 per song request depending on various things, and the price of a table dance for a rotation skip.
I had the same thing happen at a club as Zofia once. I worked 4-12 for awhile and the DJ change was at 8 and both DJ's wanted a full tipout. I couldn't believe no other dancer had said anything about it before, but I sure did and low and behold the manager wasn't even aware of the DJ's doing this and he embarrassed the hell out of them both for being so greedy in front of all the dancers at a quarterly staff meeting. He told them to be fair or be gone! ;D
Re: Tipping the DJ - After Every Song or End of Sh
I always used to tip at the end of the shift, unless working in the type of club where I could tip the DJ to stay off-stage, then I always handed him $20 when I first got on the floor to say 'goodnight'. At my current club, it's however you want to do it. The DJ gets a portion of the house fees we pay, and there is a tipjar next to the door to the DJ booth - most girls just throw a few bucks in there after each set. I do, and will adjust the amount based on what I make on stage each set. I started doing it this way at this club because we are allowed to stay open after hours if someone is paying, and I am often still dancing at closing so sometimes would miss the DJ before he left (they just put on a CD and let it play for after-hours lapdancing, so the DJ can go home).

We in NJ and in NY pay at the end of the night. The min. is $15.00 but I never tip that!! I also give between 30-40. Never more though. Then the DJ's don't expect more. My club in NY, sometimes I tip them earlier though in exchange for skipping me on stage. We all know the money is to be made in the back rooms.

For the girls that work at places where you have to tip 10%...how much of a percentahe do you actually tip
Re: Tipping the DJ - After Every Song or End of Sh
at the club i work at you tip the dj $2 a set, and you give him the total (if you danced 7 sets then $14) at the end of the night...
