Re: a guy selling outfits
IMHO, you would due to your gender have a hard time selling the outfits IF you are unknown to alot of the dancers. If you owned a stripper agency or are/was a stripper yourself... your gender wouldn't come into play so much.
It would be best to try and find a female to sell the clothes or just hand out business cards to the dancers in the club.
You would have a hard time getting into the dressing room due to your gender and some dancers not wanting to be seen nude in the dressing room (whereas they are fine with being nude on stage.. I know it is an interesting quirk some dancers have..)
Re: a guy selling outfits
Many guys make the rounds to clubs selling outfits. You may have to set your rack up on the floor though which is ok.
The biggest hassle withpeddling in clubs is getting the club sto let you in, and some clubs want a percentage of your sales or will tell you they already have someone lined up to sell there.
My fiancee and I sold shoes this way and some clubs were cool and others not.
Then many dancers are a pain in the ass. They haven't made any money which is more and more common nowadays or they are not interested in even looking at what you have.
We bought trendy looking dancer shoes for about $12-$15 a pair and sold them for no more than $29-$32 so that our price was a selling point and did not set up and spend long periods of time in the club. We would have the manager round up the girls right then and there and wer usually out of a club in less than an hour.
Remote area clubs might be more receptive to your visits as costume people don't come in much. just call the clubs first and find out if you can sell and when they will allow you to come in. The time is not always important as far as money goes. It just depends on the girls who are working and if they like what you have. Some clubs will advance the girls the money also.
Be prepared for a hustle and for dancers to be a pain in the ass. We have had girls whose shoes were falling apart not buy a $20 pair of shoes from us even when the same shoe cost $45 in the store.
Just be patient and find a way to offer Wal- Mart pricing through being able to buy at the lowest price so you are different than the other costume people.
