Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Oh dear. I started dancing in August of 1995, and didn't have the slightest clue at the time about extras. Hadn't heard the term (it is industry jargon, after all), hadn't even thought something like that would happen inside a club, and certainly hadn't seen it. Of course, like everything else, I learned quickly. I don't think most of us could honestly say we really had a clue what we were getting into until we did it, especially those of us who are older and started before there was so much info, so widely available on the internet. I'm glad these resources are available for beginners to see more of what they're contemplating before diving in, but really, I think some of you ladies may be forgetting how naive YOU were when you first started dancing. Let's not be too harsh on CaliPrincess because she's inexperienced, since we were all inexperienced once.
Merely Lurking: Anything that is outside of the law and rules in the club IS EXTRA. The fact that virtually everyone does it, does not mean it's not extra, it just means extra is commonplace in that particular location/club.

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Sapphire, If you LET someone "molest" you, and if you get more money from it or hope to, then I think "scum " is a good word to use, if you don't let them and try to stop them, them you have nothing to worry about.
Giving any sex acts along with your dance is prostitution!!!! so Pamela is hitting the nail on the head using the word "whore" !!
This SCUM that is mixing this shit with dancing should be tossed out of the clubs and put on filthy street corners where they belong!
-
Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Or maybe they should be put in other venues such as 'modeling studios', like they do in Texas. But then that still doesn't stop the prostitutes from working in the strip clubs. I don't condone extras and prostitution in clubs, but none of are perfect, and we all break some rules sometimes. I think prostitution should be taken out of the club, but I also have to be honest and admit that it's the hookers who bring in ALOT of business for us dancers. Many many men come in to strip clubs and buy dances and trips to VIP hoping for the girl's company after hours. They won't get it from me, but I will gladly dance for them while they search for the girl who will go to the hotel with them later. Of course some men won't spend any money in the club because they are strictly looking for sex, but vast numbers of them come into my club where the girls are pretty, tip, get a couple dances, then move on to other places where they can get more action but less eye candy. As long as there are strip clubs and customers, dancers and hookers are going to have to work side-by-side, so the best we can do is try not to step on each other's toes too much.

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
2 clubs have just hired what you would call newbie's, simply because they were willing to dance and hustle. A fresh face is always an asset to an up scale club. If she has her attitude and go-get- em spirit, the club will see that in her. I don't understand how someone can say a dancer won't get hired untill after Superbowl season is gone. Clubs hire anytime of year...depending on the dancer. More girls, more traffic, more money flying around during the super bowl. Pamela

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
okay if stripper isnt a dirty word then is HOOKER? Hookers hiding behind the title of stripper/dancer? You decide...read the attached article from Bridgette
Stripper is NOT a dirty word
How many times have I hung my head when someone asked me where I work and replied sheepishly that I work at a strip club? Way too many. Then I realized there's no reason to be ashamed. I don't harm anyone. But more importantly, I don't harm myself.
There are a million things I could do for a living, but how many would be as much fun AND allow me to afford a lifestyle I enjoy while putting myself through college? I don't have the problem of dreading work. I have the freedom to choose where and when I work, and whom I work for. If I don't like a customer or he is a jerk, I can simply walk away. No sweat. Can people in other fields say all that?
But those pleasantries are only superficial. There's still the question of morality and social acceptability. For some, the future is a concern. You don't want the fact that you were a stripper when you were younger to hinder any future plans. If you want to have a job in politics or any field which requires licensing or background checks, you don't want your stripping past to cause problems. That is something every girl needs to think about when considering stripping. All of my future plans include self-employment, so this isn't really a problem for me.
So what about parents, friends, boyfriends/husbands, classmates, teachers, etc? This is a problem that is fairly easy to solve. First, you have to realize that stripping isn't a dirty job. You don't have to be a slut or a woman with questionable standards / morals to strip. Those in society who believe otherwise are narrow-minded and do not deserve the privilege of having your friendship. If they call you a slut because you strip or want to strip, they are NOT your friends. If your boyfriend or husband says negative things about your stripping or desire to strip, he is insecure and will cause problems whether you strip or not. You should seriously question his motives and whether your relationship is positive and healthy. A real boyfriend or husband will support you in whatever you do - within reason of course.
Aside from your friends, love(s), and family, the opinions of others don't really matter, keeping in mind any concerns about future plans. College chums, teachers, acquaintances, etc should have no bearing on your choices. If they happen to find out you're a stripper, so what? It won't affect your life at all. Will it matter in 10 years if someone you know now thinks poorly of you? Absolutely not. Don't sweat it for a second.
Family is another matter. No one wants to be thought of poorly by their family members. We especially don't want to be outcast or, god forbid, disowned because of the decision to strip. So how do you handle that? There are a million answers, all perfectly reasonable. You have to think about what's best for you. For me, the best thing was to tell my parents and oldest brother right away. I chose not to tell my grandparents because they are far more old-fashoined and I saw no need to disappoint them. My parents, brother and friends respect that decision. I also chose not to tell my other two brothers because they are children and wouldn't understand. I will not, however, keep it from them when they are older. Cousins, aunts, uncles, etc are less important to me, so my feelings on whether they know are neutral.
I recommend telling your parents, and sooner rather than later, because they may find out anyway, and you want to be the one to tell them. It also gets harder to confide in them the longer you wait. If and when you decide to tell your parents, choose your words carefully, and think about how they will react and how you should respond. You should remain calm throughout the ordeal and keep your statements brief and rational. Even though they may yell and get emotional and/or irrational, you should not. Your case will benefit greatly if you keep your head. Stand your ground. Tell them how you will not have to ask them for money. Reassure them that you will not get into trouble or harm yourself - because that is most parents' main concern. Most importantly, after you've spilled the beans, show them how stripping is positive and that you are not suffering because of your decision to do it. When they see you are not becoming a strung-out junkie or getting into trouble, and that you are able to pay your bills, put yourself through school, start your business, or whatever you decide to do with your money, they will slowly come around and accept your choice.
The most important thing in life is that you be proud of yourself and your choices. Make choices that you will not regret later. Be happy because you only get one shot at this life. Don't be afraid to tell people you're a stripper. And remember that stripper is not a dirty word, so go ahead and say it.
Take care,
Bridgette

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
We all live different lives and make different choices...as annoying as it can be, it is also one of the most wonderful thing we have. Because someone draws their personal line before or after you does not mean that they deserve less respect.
It is the same kind of person who talks down on a prostitute that talks down on a stripper.
This topic is about how much money can be made, not the seeming un-ending argument about extras. There are many other threads to discuss that so please use them.

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Hallelujah Candigirl, I will defend my honor as well as the honor of my peers, and they do NOT include prostitutes that hide behind the misappropriated title of dancer. Maybe someone can erect (bad choice of words - heh heh) a forum for those whores and the discussions of their dirty little deeds and how much money they make under the protection of a strip club and all under guise of dancer, and the rest of us can get back to the world of dancing. Thats what this is supposed to be all about isnt it? I too do not want to keep beating this dead horse, but it keeps coming up defended, I can't eat this sh*t sandwich so I respond, as do others such as Candigirl, and by the way, I cant tell you how pleased and relieved I am I am not alone on my viewpoints in our industry. It sure feels like it sometimes!

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
At the brother site, there is a poll on
How much do you spend?
The poll stands at with 18 votes.
less $100 27.7% (5 votes)
100-200 44.4% (8 votes)
200-300 16.6% (3 votes)
300-400 0%
$500 plus 11.1% (2 votes)
Do you gals agree?

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
LOL Leigh! There is a site for THOSE women, and I think we all know what it is. Unfortunately the owners of that site have been going through problem after problem and have a hard time keeping it up - ever wonder why? And they want to charge $100 for a membership! HAHAHA ;D
-
Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Jack, I would argue that a statistical sample consisting of 18 votes with no ... what do the economists call it, "hedontic adjustments" for differences such as area of the country - is pretty much meaningless.
However, based on developments I have seen in the exotic dancing business since 9/11 in different areas of the country, I would totally agree that if you confine the group to DANCERS only (leaving those girls who provide "extras" inside dance clubs as a category unto themselves), that some 80% of all DANCERS are now in fact netting less than $250 a night on an average basis.
I would guess that the remaining 20% of DANCERS averaging more than $250 a night is attributable to a handful of factors ...
#1 - they work in a "pocket" location where negative economic changes has been minimal,
#2 - they work in a "pocket" location where local politicians and cops are not bearing down on clubs,
#3 - they are "10"s able to work in the most upscale clubs in the area
#4 - they are experienced dancers who have built up their own specific clientele of "regulars" over the years

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Speaking of a site that involves THAT subject - Bridgette, I came across yet another - its called TERB.ca, they actually have a list, yes: A LIST
of girls names and the corresponding strip clubs that do the "dirty" at strip clubs for no extra charge other than the dance fee ($20 song) can ya DIG that shit? Then I guess they arent prostitutes cause they dont charge so I guess they are just stoooopid whores. WHATEVAH!!!! :o

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Caliprincess - What club does your friend work at who makes 500 a night?
-
Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Leigh, I have read similar sites to that one, and it's disgusting to me. To think that a woman has such low self-value that she provides sexual favors during a dance at no extra charge irks me in more ways than one. Like I've said MANY times, if you wanna be a prostitute, take it out of the club and charge WELL.

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
i live in wy and work in mt i work 3 days a week from 9pm -2am It also depends on how many girls you work with my self dance with 4-5 other girls (small club) and average 350.00 a night good luck
-
Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
I am a dancer in Iowa (2 yrs experience) at a topless only no touch club. I average 400 per night. I work 3 nights a week and have never once brought home less than $900. Just so you know. I end out tipping out quite a bit since I make good money. And just so every one else knows, I am avidly against and have NEVER performed any "extras" ;)
-
Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Thorn, you hear correctly where NY and NJ and most of the northeast is concerned - and the average is closer to the $200 mark after stage fees and tipouts are subtracted. I agree that the upscale show club dancers do substantially better than this, however the criterion for being able to get hired in an upscale show club has never been tougher (i.e. '10's or at the very least a '9' with something special going for her). The high mileage contact clubs do allow girls who don't "measure up" to the hiring standards of upscale show clubs to earn more than this also, but major contact goes along with the territory.

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Lexus, $350 a night is a HIGH average for Montana clubs, even if it includes pay. i work those clubs and the average 6 DAY week earnings are $1200-$2000, $2000 being a GOOD week. Many locals are short on money and the clubs depend on truckers and tourists for higher earnings.
Many montana dancers rely on stage tips and don't walk the floor asking for dances especially in Shotgun Willie's. If you don't ask for dances you won't sell many. Guys like to be approached and many Montana dancers get off stage and go to the dressing room or sit at the bar.
Why are you guys not asking for dances? If you're ever going to work in other cities around the country EVERY dancer must work the floor and stop focusing on stage tips. if you can't sell at least 12 $20 dances a night, your money will suck.

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Typical 3-shift week fo me in 2001:
Wednesday: $900
Thurday: $1100
Friday: $750 == $2750 total/week
Typical 3-shift week for me in 2003:
Wed: $400
Thurs: $650
Fri.: $550 = = $1600 total/week.
Any way you look at it, I've taken a MASSIVE pay cut!

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Thought i would throw in my earnings for Jan. 2003
I was working 2 clubs (quit one since then). No lapdances.
Looking over my records.
I worked 3 nights, 4 hour shifts.
This is one club earnings. (the club i am staying with).
Tuesday: 10:00pm-2:00am $530.00 after tip outs.
Friday: 10:00pm-2:00am $464.00 after tip outs (slow night for a friday).
Saturday: 10:00pm-2:00am $762.00 after tip outs. (good night).
I was beat, tired and hustled way too hard for these earnings! Since then i am happier with lower earnings. I don't normally call alot of regulars now and tell them i am working. I prefer to slow it down some.

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
The earnings I see posted above are ASTRONOMICAL and I have never worked in a club where I can make that kind of money ALL the time.
All I have to say is that if I could make $1764 in 3 days , I would work 5-6 days a week and would be retired from dancing by now with other businesses replacing my dancer earnings. I make that in a decent 6 day week, sometimes in 5 days.
Why do dancers quote such high earnings yet not get motivated enough by the big money they say they ALWAYS make to work full time and make over 100,000 a year? The more you make the more you should want to work. If those kinds of earnings were my norm I would strive to become a millionaire dancing.
I hardly see a dancer who works as much as a
male business owner. Why?
I go in clubs and I don't see a lot of spending customers and see tons of girls working even more than customers.
How can a dancer work with as many girls as customers and CONSISTENTLY clear after tip outs $400-$1000 A NIGHT? I am told I am attractive and I work with other pretty girls and they don't make that every night. With as many customers as girls no one girl is going to make chunks of money each night.
I intend to go to all of these so called gold mine clubs as a customer that are listed here and see for myself how much money is being spent. I have been to a lot of clubs in many states and don't see enough business and dances bought to justify middle and upper 3 figure nights for dancers on a REGULAR basis.
I am willing to work 5-6 nights a week and over the last 3 years have yet to be able to make $500 EVERY night average after tip outs. About $235-$260 a night average is the most I hit and I work the floor hard and talk to all the customers and every customer does not have big money they are able and willing to spend. The smaller town clubs seem easier to make money in for me than the big ones too. The big city guys are too busy looking at all the eye candy and usually will only pick one girl to spend on in my experience. Sometimes its me and sometimes not. Out of 12 customers and 9 dancers or 70 dancers and 90 customers are you guys always the chosen girls for the big spenders who will spend $100, $200 or $500?

Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Tina, no matter what, there will always be plenty of girls who earn more than you, as well as plenty who earn less. I'm a full-time student at a very prestigious university, and thus cannot work more than 2-3 shifts per week. The effect of the smoke on my reflux disease and asthma only compounds the issue.
Personally, I think I am a terriffic hustler. Certainly, I'm good-looking, but I've seen far prettier girls earn significantly less than I do...what I offer are exquisite conversational skills, poise, class, and yes, terriffic dances. If I absolutely have to, I'll walk the floor doing dance by individual dance -- I'm not averse to that. However, I prefer to sit with individual customers for extended periods of time and cut them deals...for example, $250 for all the dances you'd like in 1 hr., which is a 40-50% savings for the guy. If a guy really enjoys your company, and is intent on purchasing dances, anyhow, he'll likely accept the offer. Similarly, if I've been conversing with a guy for a couple of hours, and only danced erratically, this scenario ensues: Guy:"Well, Juliet,I've had fun,but I've gotta go home now. How many dances was that?" My response: "Well, Joe, I typically earn $300-$400/hr., and we've been here an hour and a half, so whatever you feel is appropriate."
VERY RARELY will I be paid anything other than my "estimated range". Finesse is key.
Finally, I have bad nights -- everyone does, and of course, they are becoming more and more frequent nowadays. Hell, last Saturday, I left with a pitiful $110....My point is simply that it's all relative, with the major variables being the club itself, the dancer and her work style, appearance, etc.,and the clientele. Just because the people you personally know earn in a particular range does not mean everyone across the US does; many earn more, and many less :)
-
Re: what do strippers make per night?!?
Tina, also, I don't ACTUALLY earn $300-$400 hour, typically. That's just an ideal earnings range I submit to the customer if I feel he can afford it; if he can't, I'll alter that range to earn the business...I've charged anywhere from $100 -$1000(during the boom years) for an hour!
The most important thing to remember is that you have negotiating power...just beacuse dances are set at $20, does not typically mean you can't ask for $25,etc.
