Re: Question for the dancers
When I first started dancing (almost 2 yrs. ago) I was confused about this also. Anyway, at most places dancers are considered independent contractors, which means you are, in a way, leasing space at a club on a nightly basis. So at most places dancers must pay a "house fee" and tip other employees out such as djs or bouncers, but dancers are not paid by the club itself and must rely on tips and dances for income. At some places dancers are paid at an hourly rate but it is only minimum wage or slightly higher. (The club I work at now pays 3 girls/night $6.50/hr and the rest come in to work for tips only). So either way, the majority of your income will be made by hustling dances or receiving tips from the stage, and you bring it all home that night, which is NICE :)
Re: Question for the dancers
thanks!! very helpful :-*
Re: Question for the dancers
The club i work at also only pays a couple girls hourly, but they get paid well, like $9/hour. They only pay girls who are very reliable(i'm supposed to start getting hourly soon :) But your best bet would be to go hang out at a local club one nite, bring some money, and just watch all nite. Try tipping them and getting dances, asking them questions. Not like how much do you make, but more like are you happy with what you make. I'm very happy with what I make, I make over $20/hour in a very shitty town in Oklahoma, so if you live in a larger place you could REALLY bank. I'm also a student and not having to worry about if i can pay my insurance or buy those books is GREAT, you should do it :)
Re: Question for the dancers
There are different types of clubs, but most of them won't pay you. Part of it depends on what state you're in too.
Some places are very strict, you have to pay the stage fee before you work, and there are late fees and fine's for breaking rules and stuff like that. Other places are just lucky to have dancers show up. And some places pay an hourly wage or a set amount per night.
Some places you'll collect your dance money and then pay out the clubs share either at the end of the night or as you come out of the dance area. Other places the club collects the money and pays out to you at the end of the night. The place I'm working at now they only pay out once a week... so I go home with 50-100 in tips and get my dance money once a week.
Some places you'll make most of your money doing couch or table dances.. usually 10-30 dollars at a time. Some places you make most of your money on stage. The place that I'm working at now I make most of my money on champagne rooms. I don't sell a lot of table dances and I don't make a lot of money on stage, but I usually do a couple champagne rooms a night, which is a good chunk of money. :-)
