Songs you've only heard in your club?
I'll start this off with the stuff that I play that I have yet to hear in another SC (maybe I just haven't been at the other clubs when these songs were played, though):
- "Headstrong" - Trapt (This is such a great song and I have yet to hear it played in another club, nor mentioned in any of the threads on this BB)
- "Proposition Fuck You!" - Methods of Mayhem
- "Get Naked" - Methods of Mayhem
- "Crawling in the Dark" - Hoobastank
- "Cry Little Sister" - Lost Boys Soundtrack
- "When I'm Gone" - 3 Doors Down
Let's hear what you're playing at your club that nobody else seems to be playing (and I'm talking about good songs to dance to, not joke songs like "Shaun Cassidy and the Partridge Family sing their Polka Favorites")

There are many songs that don't trickle into the masses. Shame, these are usually the ones I like best.
Here goes-
HIM-Wicked Game
The aforementioned Praga Khan- Breakfast in Vegas (holla!)
Peggy Lee-Fever
Bob Marley-Jammin' danced to by a girl who puts away more pot than the entire High Times staff, I am sure.
Crowded House-Into temptation
Many of these are mine.
Some Dj's have a problem with me-a personal rule of mine is that if it's on the radio these days then I prob Won't like it.......I tip VERY well ($50+) if they stick to my personal CD's how hard is that????
Poo. I went off on a tangent. Sorry.

Re: Songs you've only heard in your club?
I've actually done four of the six songs in the first list with the most done being Headstrong and Crawling in the Dark. One song I have never heard in another club is Smashing Pumpkins The Eyes off the Lost Highway Soundtrack. Thats one unique one. I know some clubs don't do old school but sometimes late nite friday and saturdays the Dj will do old R&B.
Not just plain ole Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye, they play like Al Green: Love and Happiness, old Frank Sinatra and Rat Pack popular songs, they might get into something by David Ruffin off the Gentlemen Ruffin CD, some Elvis Presley stuff and some Tom Jones like Pussycat. All songs that the entire club knows and will sing along to. It makes for a happy atmosphere.
A song thats typically not done that I bring to most clubs with me is Diana and Marvin's My Mistake. Its good for days or mid shift and good during slower week nites. The older guys appreciate it. And another old song by one of the temptations that left and went solo called Get it While its Hot. Makes people blush cause if you listen its kinda dirty.

Oh, this girl used to dance to that country song "She Needs Wide Open Spaces" and it worked really well for her.
I do some Tori Amos ("She's Your Cocaine" "Crucify") in clubs that let me.
The Jewel song "Break Me" (So take me, break me, i'll let you make me...") can be incredible with the right girl at the right time in the right club but I don't even try to go there...

They play all of these songs at several of the clubs I work at.
There are only three songs that I can say with certainty that I haven't heard elsewhere.
Journey~Party's Over/holeplssly in love with you (Only released on one of their very hard to find live albums.)
K's Choice~ Addict
Cure~ A Forest (one of my favorites)
Re: Songs you've only heard in your club?
These songs are some that I have heard only two places - In my house as part of my collection and in the main club I go to.
1). Brand New Love - Deadsy
2). Son of Mustang Ford - Swervedriver
3). Making Plans for Nigel - Primus (XTC cover)
4). Cantspeak - Danzig
5). Powertrip - Monster Magnet
I have found that if the dancer is both a serious music fan and has some control over the music that is played while she is on stage, a lot of really good stuff gets played that works well, but is obscure for the most part because they are album tracks and or/B-side type stuff that doesnt get commercial air time. Personally, I really dig that sort of thing - makes for a rather unqiue experience and opens me up to new songs.
Re: Songs you've only heard in your club?
The odds of rare songs being played depends upon the library of the DJ. How big of a collection is usually kept at some of the other clubs? I'm afraid to mention mine due to the amount, but I guarantee it's not small.

My library, combined with the standard collection the club provides me, is pushing 34,000 songs (not a typo).
I would guestimate that at least 15,000 of those songs are danceable and upwards of 30,000 would be recognized instantly by anyone who heard them.
When I'm not at the club, I literally live on my computer converting my CD's to MP3's, then I sell the CD's and get more.

Nice collection to work with! As of right now my current count is 62,914 songs. Of course it's all in mp3's, that's the way to go now.
