Audioslave works for me. Chevelle rocks right now too! As does a few Godsmack. Listen to your hard rock local stations.
Good luck,
Pamela
I like Type O Negative's "Christian Woman" & "Black No.1". I love Queens of The Stoneage and Tool.
tool and perfect circle are always good
disturbed is ok, and i recently re-discovereded my soundgarden cds
There is alot of good older rock heavy metal, ozzy, van hallen(with david lee roth of course)ac dc ,judas priest, newer stuff, marilyn manson, lords of acid, seems as though todays rock bands are not as heavy as bands of the past,I was 22 when I use to dance to black sabbath and the older guys in suits would come up and tip me and go,how do you know about this music?G uys in their 40s-50s love it ,it takes them back to their wild days, just ask xmarks.
You may want to try some punk. The songs are high energy and fun! Bands like: Rancid, The Ramones or AFI. Just a suggestion!!
Thanks everyone...I'm gonna go start listening to some of these songs now
How heavy are you talking about? A few of my faves are ICP "Piggy Pie", Twizted "We don't die (remix)", also Static-X, System of a Down. Also, to add to Soybeangirl's suggestion, do a search for 'punk covers' alot of punk bands do covers of popular songs.
Monster Magnet
"Powertrip"
A great dancing song.
For really heavy my list is as follows:
Mudvayne
Slip Knot
Korn
Pantera
God Smack
As for being able to dance to them; I don't know that's kind of up to your discretion, unless your in a Mosh Pit.
More danceable would probally be Seven Dust.
Also, White Zombie, and Rob Zombie are always good heavy strip club music made for dancing.
For the retro crowd there is a Black Sabbath Tribute Album out there with Ozzy Osborne and Primus doing a new rendition of "Sweet Leaf" it sounds great check it out.
You might also want to check out the stuff that the Goth crowd listens too. I've been listing to some it and what I've listened too is very dark, very heavy but you can still dance to it.
I hope this helps.
I just picked up Eighteen Visions-Vanity. Great CD check out "You broke like glass".
sabbath and ozzy go without saying!
nine inch nails is kind of danceable. POD is heavy. taproot. KMFDM is always an option, there shit is kind of electronic so it might be danceable.
all the real heavy styuff is gonna be tough to dance too. I'd still love to see you try. (I like heavy tune in case you hadn;t noticed)
I've spent over 22 yrs in the music industry mainly dealing with Heavy Metal and 6yrs of that has been DJing in strip clubs and to this day I'm still blown away that dancers can move to the music and still feel sexy [this is a compliment]
When I was promoting Skinlab one time they came into the club and the guitarist told me that strippers use their music frequently and of course the same went for Pantera, but that is different since the two brothers own their own club in Texas.
The club I've been DJing at for 4yrs doesn't allow the heavy music but some girls get away with some of the older hard rock. Now and then a Korn track may be played. Maybe I'll just have to wait till I come to America and see how you girls really work the music
Being a music fan, and a DJ Wanna Be ( ;D), I often hear a song and think it would be great to hear in a SC.
These are some that, If I were a DJ, I would play (assuimg its okay with the dancer, of course).
"Jesus Christ Pose" - Soundgarden
"Hands All Over" - Soundgarden
"Slide" - L7
"On My Way to the Cage" - Henry Rollins
"Tearing" - Henry Rollins
"Bück Dich" - Rammstein
"The Key to Grammercy Park" - Deadsy
"Pepper" - Butthole Surfers
"Whos Behind My Door" - Butthole Surfers
"RX Queen" = Deftones
"You Wouldnt Believe" - 3-11
"Deity" - Ministry"
"Welcome to the Fold" - Filter
"Burning II" - Fugazi
These are just off the top of my head at 2AM. One thing I have found is that a lot of great songs are buried on the CDs, and never get any airplay. Thus, the only ones who know about them are hardcore fans.
IMO, the heavy stuff is NOT hard to dance to!
Godsmack, Pantera, Korn, NIN, Ministry these are what I consider standard stripclub heavy stuff. You're more likely to hear these bands than gangsta rap.
Slide! You said Slide! I love this song! Totally forgot all about it! I'm gonna download it right now!Quote:
"Slide" - L7
Is it just me or does it sound like "slut"?
LOL.. "slut"? I don't know.Quote:

I am a big L7 fan. I think most of their songs would work well in a SC - just that "Slide" is one of the best.
Try Mr. Bungle/Tomahawk/Fantomas/Cradle of Filth/Morbid Angel/10000 Homo Dj's/Wumpscut/Mortiis/Cat as Trophy (rare but v.good) etc
Juliette de Sade
Morbid Angel? I love em, but wouldnt think that it would work in a SC. Then again, I know a dancer who makes Carcass work for her, so anything is possible.Quote:

And if you do go the cradle of filth route use dusk in her embrace... some great covers on the bonus disk..Also try bands like Lacuna Coil, Tristania,Theatre of Tragedy,My dying bride etc...
"Carcass" by Siouxsie and the Banshees? If so, OMG! that's awesome! I would empty my pockets for the dancer that did that!Quote:

Ok Now I wanna see someone dance to Wolverine Blues by Entombed!
Looks like the suggestions are pretty much covered, so here are my thoughts on hard rock and metal music for dancing:
For me, there is something incredibly sexy and mesmerizing about a beautiful female form moving to something as prickly and aggressive as metal music (moves me to tip extra). It's been a long time since my film class, but I think the term is "diegetic," which is a technique used to create dramatic tension by presenting opposing stimuli (i.e. scary music underscoring a seemingly serene scene, or pretty music underscoring a violent scene). Think the home invasion in Clockwork Orange or the great wedding/mob hits sequence from The Godfather. Hard rock/heavy metal always works on me, ladies. Send the senses into overdrive, make more money-- off of me. ;-) G'night. :headbanger: :headphones:
