DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
Some clubs have all of their poles on one stage and the girls just hit the poles in order.
In this case, does the girl on the primary pole get her song, then when she moves to the secondary/tertiary pole she just has to dance to whatever the girl on the main pole picks out?
How do you handle the situation when a girl has some guy who is going to give her extra money to table dance to that "special song that he wants" and none of the girls coming up on the roster want to dance to it?
Do you just tell the girls on stage to "suck it up" (get your minds out of the gutter, I didn't mean it in that way)?, or do you play a break song (i.e.: no girl on stage) and play the song so that the girl on the floor doesn't miss out on the money from the customer?

Re: DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
My club has two stages going at all times. The "main stage" and "bar stage". The DJ always plays music for the girl on main. Although he tries to make sure the girl up on the other stage likes the same kind of music. If a customer specifically requests a song, but no one wants to dance it, play it for a girl who dances to similar songs. She'll understand.
Re: DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
In the best run club I've worked in that had a DJ, the gal who tipped the most heard her songs the most.
If you can't get to the lounge, or lap dances, go advertise and TIP THAT DJ for a great song that you love to dance to! It'll probably get you back in the private dance mode once you get off stage.
When I worked smaller clubs with the stage being the major cash flow, the DJ would always get a great tip from me, way more than in the larger clubs, to ensure that I made $ that evening.

We have one main stage and two small podium stages. The music is always played to the main stage and the podium girls have to put up with whatever is played. Now and then in between shows on the main stage I'll do a request for the podium girl
Re: DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
2 clubs i worked when you tipped the Dj the most you also got your song and time on the center stage. In this business money 'still' does talk. Be rude to the DJ and see how far you get. There is nothing worse than watching dancers dance to music with no clue how to grab a beat.
One club i visit now has 4 stages, and the center stage which is the biggest and only one with a pole gets the action when a dancer hits it! I know she goes and tips the DJ, we all do!
DJ's can make or break your earnings.

Re: DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
I have to agree with you Pamela, money does talk but I'm not going to ask for it to satisfy a dancer's music taste. If she wants to tip me more at the end of the night of course I'm not going to say no.
We have strict rules for the stage dancers where I work and the girls will try to get away with whatever they can. I will bend the rules on the music to help them out but I won't break them.
Being rude to the DJ is the worst thing, but I don't expect them to suck up to me either. About a week ago I had a dancer go on stage, she had picked her set [consisting of three songs] but when she got on stage she decided she wanted a different last song. She got my attention and started signaling what number song she wanted. When it came time for her last song I played what had been first organised. She just stood there and wouldn't take off her last piece of clothing plus she got the crowd to boo me. When the song finished I played another song [my choice just to piss her off] and she got naked and left the stage halfway through the song.
Now all she had to do was to get on the phone just before going on stage and tell me she had changed her mind and would appreciate it if i played a different track for her last song. I would have gladly changed her playlist.
Re: DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
Thats very true, we need to have open lines with the DJ's. After all dancing and music go together!!! I would just hand the DJ money and ask. It worked. Sometimes there was a mess up. But i did my best and went with the flow, this usually happens when the DJ has been drinking too much..Lol.
Other than that, most i have worked with have a level head, are kind, BUT don't piss them off. I understood this well. And learned early on DJ's make my money for me alot of the time!!!

Re: DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
I give my Dj pretty much total control over the music played, unlike alot of higher end club's. Some girl's have there ( my song syndrome ) chosen few special song's. They usually feud it out when new girl's come in and they have to fight for or learn to share said song's. My take on it is usually ....... If your name's not on the copy write then it aint any more your's then anyone else's. I'm the one that pay's for the right to play it no one else does and it aint cheap either. This is a service oriented business and the song's that get played are the one's the customer want's to hear as much or more then the one's the girl's want to dance to. Yes some song's make a girl feel sexier when she dance's to it but I tell them, if they're professional dancer's then they should be able to dance to most anything within reason. IE; I don't care how sexy you look dancing to Canabel Corpes, a group of 50 year old's aren't going to appreciate the artistic merit. It's a balancing act for the Dj but that's what he get's paid for.
Re: DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
I worked in an old "hick" (don't take that to be deragatory) strip club where nothing but older, white, country guys came to. The girls there made $50 a night if they were lucky all because the owner let them pick out their own music. And guess what they picked....you guessed it...hardcore gangsta rap....needless to say, I only was there for like 2 weeks!!!!

I have to agree with Crazy Bob on this:

A dancer should be able to Jam to all music. It is the way you carry yourself, and being able to go from a country song to "Fuck You I won't do What You Tell Me" <--- A great head banging song I don't know the artist with ease and a smile on your face!

Thats "Killing in the Name Of...." by Rage Against the Machine.
Re: DJ's - Which Girl Gets Her Song?
Hey, Jackie, that song is by "Rage Against the Machine".
If you like that, you try these as well by the same group...
"Renegades of Funk"--though this is dangerously close to being overplayed.
"Fistfull of Steel"
"Take the Power Back"
"Guerrilla Radio"(that's proper spelling, it can have one or two "r"s
"Sleep Now in the Fire"
There is another track that turned me onto these guys in the first place--now I have lost the damned CD, but I cannot take the time to look for it--I shouldn't even be posting this now, but what the hell. Someone here will know the title--the lyrics repeat "Rally 'round the family, with a pocketfull of shells"--I just know the track number on the CD, as usual.
Sorry to get off topic, here...
(a moment later) Wow, you beat me to it, Prester John, I was typing this list and we posted about the same time, that is funny, and cool---talk to you soon, bro'...

D - That song is "Bulls on Parade" off their "Evil Empire" cd. One of the most powerful rock/rap song I have ever heard in terms of both sonic and lyrical power is Rage's "Wake Up" from their first cd. Man o man, the few times I've heard that in a SC, it was magic......
Sometimes less is more there, D ;D ;D ;D. Erudition might not always get the worm ;)
