How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
Hi all,
Okay, just venting here - if I hear that stupid Beyonce' song "Crazy in Love" or anything by J-Lo one more time, I think I might throttle my DJs (even though I love all them to death!!). I swear, those songs get played at least 3 times a night!!
How about you all? Any song that's being played in your club that's driving you bonkers??

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
Eminem's "Superman". 2-3x night and I can't believe they play it in the first place. Even the customers are saying "Wow, why are they playing *this* again??"
-
Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
This is a great topic! *grins from ear to ear* ;D
I second ^^, anything Eminem I'm tired of!
Very tired of Jlo, and Nelly, "hot in herre" is very worn out in my club.
Thankfully no song is ever played more than once a night --- You poor things! :-[ :-[ :-[ Are they trying to make you memorize the lyrics for a test?

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
Kind of funny you gals are mentioning the mainstream Top 40 stuff because that music doesn't seem to get played around here very much. The stuff I get tired of are songs I would consider nightclub industry standards because I don't hear them anywhere BUT in nightclubs.
I could go a month or two between visits, go to different clubs, and I will hear one or more of the following 90% of the time:
Revolting Cocks - "Do You Think I'm Sexy"
Radio Iodine - "I Am"
Rammstein - "Du Hast" (I love this song but geez DJ's give it a rest)
Lords Of Acid - "I Sit On Acid"
I could also do without the terrible remixes of well.. just about anything.
I don't neccesarily mind the eclectic tastes, but certainly there's more stuff out there available. Variety is good.

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
Lords of Acid-Pussy was worn out YEARS ago. And it still gets play. Pour some sugar on me has had its day over and over and over. I don't like Avril Levigne, so a single song played once is too much. And it gets a lot of play....
Nelly has gotten awfully old. Oddly enough, I never get tired of hearing Cypress Hill.

I hear those *every night*! And wow, as much as I like NIN, I'm getting sick of stuff off of "pretty hate machine". It sounds sooo dated! Lords of Acid needs to be finally put down and maybe trotted out once every month or two for a laugh. Their songs that are played are 8-10 years old at this point.

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
I am sick of anything from Lords Of Acid at this point in my life. Heard them too much, and had to deal with a website the ex put up about them, along with him wanting to have sex to some of their songs.
Well....that part was all good.
Forget them.

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
What's wrong with songs that are 8-10 years old? Those are my favorites. Well, maybe like 10-15 years old. :) I just discovered Lords of Acid a few years ago (when I started working in a strip club of course), so I still like them.

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
I particularly hate it when a club plays almost exclusively rap music, especially "raggaethon", which is the craze here in Puerto Rico. I don't mind a couple of songs, but please not all night [flaming]. Sometimes DJ's will play the same two or three songs over and over again [grr]. Fortunately for me, at a club I went to last Saturday in Ponce I heard no rap whatsoever, as a matter of fact heavy metal was being played mostly [clap]

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
Most of the girls at my club play the same set ALL THE TIME, no matter how many times they go up per night. So sometimes I hear the same song 3-4 times per night, which drives me nuts!!

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
I won't play the same song twice in a night, unless the song is hot, and the dancer is so good, no one minds--even then I will always say that, yes, we already did play it, but the woman is so fine we are going to give it to her again. But even then I like to do this at the beginning and the end of the night. The other night I was mortified to discover I had played Metallica "Sad but True" THREE times, which although it wears well, was still too damned much!
I am sick to death of having to play Staind, though everyone else seems to love them--to me they are just depressing. Why do I need to listen to this guy whining about how miserable he is? I've had enough damned trouble myself this last year! Time to move on. But they do have one very hot, pounding track I will sneakily play whenever a dancer asks me for Staind and doesn't say which one...
'Suffocate"--from the Dysfunction CD
I will not under any circumstances play "Back That Ass Up". If anyone, dancer or customer, asks me to, I just lie and say I don't have it, although I regret to say I do, on a compilation CD. I am sick to death of Nelly's "Hot in Here', though I like his other stuff, except for some reason "Ride With Me" drives me nuts.
Though I do love the Beastie Boys, I can't stand their first CD, especially "Brass monkey", or "Fight for thr Right..."
Cher, Celine Dion, Brittany Spears, Ricky F**king Martin, forget it...
Wow, I kinda like this thread, LOL.

Mortified? I'd be happy to hear this song three times!
[clap] As a matter of fact I was surprised to hear Unforgiven II, didn't expect the DJ to have that CD ;D

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
I used to work at a club where the DJ's were not allowed to play any rap. So for a year I never danced to any rap music, but now at my new club they play rap. Like ludacris and nelly. I get sick of that. I like listening to rap but not @ work.

I love Beasties! There are about 6 songs I love to play, "Hey Ladies" for example. I know what you mean about the first album being a little rough around the edges.
More songs I'm sick of:
"Jay and Jane" -- you do them both, okay, we get it! ;)
Various tracks from the XXX soundtrack

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
Anything by Justin Timberlake [puke] It seems the dancers where I am like to use his songs a lot. I don't know why everyone seems to like him so much. I did like the lyric, "...better have you naked by the end of this song.." though.

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
In my club the dj rarely if ever and usually only if it's requested, play's the same song twice a night. The only thing I find grueling repetition in is the first set's that he play's for the girl's at the very beginning of the night. I only assume that he does that so that they can concentrate on the matter's at hand like applying make-up and such. The worst music that can, in my mind, be played in the club's is the one that's being played on the radio in your car seemingly every time you turn the radio on, till you can't stand to hear it anymore. It feel's like it's haunting you and following you everywhere you go. The most important thing is to have a plethora of music to work with so that nothing get's played out. I keep enough music on hand to never play a song twice for probably 3 month's and it's all good and danceable. Repetition is a bad thing and should be avoided at all cost's, the girl's hate it, the customer's hate it and the rest of the staff does too. It's like you can be in another part of the club and not even look and know who's on stage by the music that's being played...... too predictable.

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
Oh, I like this thread. I am sooo tired of some songs:
It's Getting Hot In Here
Every Day Is A Winding Road (Yes, in a strip club, several times a night!)
Big Shiny Disco Balls
Dirty Little Mind
Paradise City
and some song that all I ever catch is "bitch'll talk your ears off cause she's got free nights and weekends"
(god, what kind of runned down one horse town am I stuck in? lol)

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
I really really really think that its time to retire:
"Freaks of the Industry" -Digital Underground
"Doin It" -LL Cool J
It's been how many years?? WTF?! I still hear them both at least once every night!!
-
Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
Our Dj's will only play a song once a night, even if it's requested but I am still really sick of hearing hot in here and air force ones by nelly, dirty by Christina, and anything by Sean paul

Re: How About Music You're Sick of Hearing!!
I'm afraid that if I hear J Lo's "Love don't cost a thing" one more time I'm gonna do something that'll make a postal worker say "Damn! :o That's one crazy bitch!"
I know no DJ would choose to play that unless the girl requested it, so I just wanna drag her off the stage by her hair and explain subliminal thought process to the dumb bitch. [beat]
It's a fucking SC! our love's gonna cost something, that's for sure!
[grr] [flaming] [evil] [frustrated] [beat] [cuss] [puke]
:) Okay I feel better now that that's out of my system.
