Heard Something Cool Last Night....
Okay... after my 15 hour work day yesterday (Saturday) I was driving home and heard something rather cool on the radio. Here in the NJ/NYC area there is an Industrial-Techno Radio show on KROCK (Howard Stern's flag station, for those who don’t know) called "Solid State" with a guy named Liquid Todd. I am not really a techno-fan, but I can truly appreciate it if it is done well. Last night he played a bizarre mix that caught my attention. Seems that someone looped and sampled the riffs from the Strokes "Hard to Explain" and added Christine Aguilera singing "Genie in Bottle" over it. I am familiar with both of those songs, even though I am not a fan of either. However, the two seemingly opposing forces were melded together in a scarily perfect way. It was stunning impressive and it worked PERFECTLY.
Being the wannabe SC DJ that I am, I really thought that it would be great dance fodder. Has anyone ever heard it - and is it available anywhere? I don’t know a lot about the technical aspects of sampling etc etc etc - do DJ put stuff like this together all the time - and not release it to the general public?
I was surprised how much I liked the mix, since I don’t like either of the two artists (I don’t hate them, though). Guess it pays to keep an open mind about such things.
Tanks all.

Re: Heard Something Cool Last Night....
Its a bootleg remix called "A Stroke Of Genius" by Freelance Hellraiser.
It was actually released back in February in the UK, but don't expect to find it in a record store here in the US. Word is though you can find an MP3 of it pretty easily on a P2P app like KaZaa or WinMX.
Here's an article on the song:
