Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
Shoes are my thing (oh how I adore stripper shoes! extravagant shoe nirvana! :lovestruck:) not clothes. I'm extremely picky about what I wear. I prefer minidresses to anything long, neon, or gaudy. I try to pull off the classy stripper persona, whatever that means.
Most of the things I buy look like this: https://www.flirtcatalog.com/catalog...a869ec96f99bee
I tried to work a white naughty nurse costume for halloween (the one from Frederick's), but the dang thing didn't have a zipper in the back or any way to elegantly get the bitch off without pulling it over my head. I got a lipstick smear on the inside near the boning. Almost yanked an earring off in the process several times. Talk about painful. :ill:
The only plus to the costume is that it came with frilly "panties", and guys love to see you strip ever-so-slowly out of "panties". Men have a thing for girls with drawz around their ankles I guess. I never plan to wear that expensive thing again unless I can find someone to put a zipper on one side.
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
My money maker is a white cat suit with purple tropical flowers, slit to the belly button and very low in the back. Very exotic and stands out under the blacklights!!

I have that costume! Is it made by Sexxy Brazil?
Kobi--I have the same one (from Sexxy Brazil).
I like it and I make money, but what do you do onstage?
It is somewhat difficult to take off in a graceful manner....
Actually I don't wear it anymore because of that reason. I wore it in KS and we had a backstage area where we could go take off our outfits between songs. As for taking it off for lapdances, at my old club in KS it was common to walk around in your thong for most of the night. Isn't that weird? In Vegas we can only be topless if we are on stage or lapdancing.
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
I rarely buy outfits from stripper supply stores. Its much more fun to just go to the mall and buy ultra slutty clothes that I would never wear in public and try to make costumes out of those. (And often they last longer and are less costly then the clothes bought at stripper stores). I might as well have fun and try to be original. :D
So far I'm the only girl at my club to have a fuzzy animal skin print cut like a business men's jacket. If I wear a nude colored lace bra and panties underneathe it, I look like a flasher, and across the room it gives me the illusion of being naked underneathe it. LOL
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
School Girl and Dorothy (from Wizard of Oz). They work because I take off my top and take off my GString whilst leaving the skirt/dress on.... allows everyone to fullfil their "up skirt" fetish.
I also love how I look in these outfits so that also plays into it. ;D
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
Cheap purple harem girl costume (with face veil)given to me by a fellow bellydancer that is innapropriate for Oriental performances but perfect fantasy......the other dancers and most customers really love it.......the DJ asked me to play my finger symbols next time too but that might be over-costuming it since no one @ club really would appreciate the skill involved...
PVC vinyl with buckles booty shorts, top, and arm bands with black boots...very S&M Xena.....gives me lots of tips and LD requests....
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
i personally think the "school girl" is over rated. but hell yes costumes matter!
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
Of course costumes matter! Anyway, in my personal opinion there are some features thet the costume must accomplish
1. Coherency with personal look
2. Comfort
3. Ease fot taking it off
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
AT my last club, I had a few customers who won't get a dance from me UNLESS i wore the schoolgirl outfit. If I know a guy is a good tipper & buys VIP time, I don't mind running to the dressing room and changing into the plaid skirt & white top (lots of guys love it when you change just for them).
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
Can anyone tell me about any good dancewear websites/catalogs besides Flirt and Poison Angel? I tried to Google Hey Baby but nothing came up for their site so can anyone tell me the number to order a catalog?
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
I've never done the schoolgirl thing, I think my look is too dark and serious to pull it off, frankly. I'd love to do a naughty teacher/librabrian thing though, but a girl at my club in New Orleans pulls it off so perfectly anything I did would be a pale imitation.
I usually stick to a bikini/booty shorts combo now, although I have one fabulous custom made strapless mesh long dress with waist-high slits on the sides that's yellow with big green and blue tropical flowers. I know that sounds hideous, but it looks totally amazing under blacklight and I nearly always have a good night when I wear it.
The outfit works well in New Orleans b/c of the blacklight in my club, but it doesn't in Vegas because my club there is so big and doesn't seem to have them.
But I usually try to keep the color scheme and prints simple and classy, which typically works for me. Like Esmeralda, I loooove me a sexy pair of stripper shoes! ;D
Re:Costumes- Does It Make a Difference?
From one guys' perspective, I can tell you the schoolgirl thing is not only way overdone, but it's old. It was a fashion fad for a little while and I know a lot of dancers picked up on it, but as with many things in life, too much of a good thing . . .
The thing about costumes, or attire in the club in general, is if you are going to go for a full-out costume, think like a guy thinks. Okay, well, maybe not stoop that low. :) All kidding aside though, think about what constitutes "sexy". What are female icons that represent sexy? My partner Amber had a custom-made Dallas Cowboy's Cheerleader outfit made that looked 100% accurate to the real deal. She told me many times that when she went on stage the club went insane. Years earlier, she had a "I Dream of Jeannie" outfit made with equally good results. If you are in a small club, you can afford to be a little less-creative with your outfits because most likely you are going to get noticed more. When you are working in a club with 140 other girls, I can tell you that unless you are wearing something VERY unique, you are just going to blend into the ocean of other dancers.
One of the fortunate aspects of dancing is that, provided your management is confortable with it, you can be as creative on stage as you want. All it takes is a little imagination and a few bucks to put a nice costume together and your set. If your outfit is good enough, you'll pay for it your first night you wear it just from all the extra attention you'll be drawing to yourself.
As for general attire when walking on the floor etc., I can tell you that the more you wear the more you make. Guys are in a club to watch a striptease, not just another girl walking around in a string bikini. More on that later though. :)

You'd be surprised Katrine. Although it would matter a lot depending on the clientelle in your club, I can tell you that for many guys, yes, they wouldn't care. For some though, they'd get a huge kick out of it and it would be a very effective way to get noticed even more. Even if so much as one guy in the club takes notice of that attention to detail and is entertained by it, you could have one extra patron who would gladly go to the VIP room with you just because of wearing little cymbals on your fingers. Every detail adds up!

Dancerwealth, you are a sweetheart :)
