What type of Persona do you use at work?
So, as I am preparing to change clubs (moving from a smaller local club to a larger one) I was wondering - What type of personas do you use at work?
Now that I am going someplace bigger, I want to develop a persona and style that will set me apart.
I know of the basics: Slutty/ slightly trampish, classy and rich looking, sweet and innocent, dark and dangerous.
I was just wondering if anyone here had anymore ideas, as I am trying to find somthing for me that is original and will "fit", yet not alienate the customers (goth girl personas dont fly very well here in the midwest, for exsample.
Thanx for all your help!
Portia ;)

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
I was told by another girl once "To be a lady at the table and a whore(not literally) in the backroom". You should be a combination of all kinds of things. You should be able to have a great, classy, educated conversation, while also being able to give a sultry mind blowing dance. Get a feel for your customers and what kind of girl you think they are looking for. Then play up that aspect of your personality.

Wow, perfect analogy Trixie! [cheers]

I use the one where you never know what to expect......mutiple personalities. I act like all of the above at work and pretend like i am exerting "power". Mainly it is all in good fun.

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
You should be many. It's acting. You have to fit with the customer. Feel him out. Talk, but not much, let him talk about himslef for a few minutes. You will know if he just wants to look like he's gonna bite or not before long.
You got a loud guy, behave like him. You have a shy guy, slow down some. It works. Some guys in clubs seem to be attracted to dancers they can relate too, on whatever level they may be seeking at the time.
Good luck,
Pamela :)

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
I would also say it also depends on whether or not you are in costume or not. At my club we are allowed to wear costumes and I've been doing the School Girl thing for near 2 months.... so of course there is a certain type of personality that goes with that costume.
I can be cheeky, naughty, naive, sweet, perky/bubbly, friendly because of the outfit. I can be a little sarcastic too if I want due to the costume. Being a seductive siren doesn't quite suit a School Girl costume - off the bat/when you social with the customers "on the floor".
That's another way to set you apart. Plus Pamela's advice about mirroring the customer is a good "sales" technique.... ;D

The thing that always works for me.... a HAPPY persona. Happy, bubbly, and sweet, gets them every time :)

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
i have pretty much the same "club" attitude as bella!!!
i'm perky.... sweet... innocent... happy... and love dancing (which sometimes after dancing all night is SO far from the truth)!!!

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
perky sweet innocent won't make you 1000$ a night. aggressive, bold and slutty will!
-
Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
Definitely disagree. Every guy likes different things, while you like aggresive, bold and slutty, the guy next to you likes perky, sweet, and innocent. I know from personal experience that perky, sweet, and innocent has $1000 nights.

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
Yeah, perky canl earn you just as much as slutty can. Especially when it comes to many older gentlemen, they still expect you to be some what of a lady. Every customer is different. Most of the time I go for the blond, cheerful, cute and bubbly routine. But for certain customers I have to ditch that persona real fast and become intelligent, quick witted, and charming. For me it always seems like the ones who want aggressive, bold, and slutty don't have enough money for it to be worth my doing anyway.

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
I've noticed the men at my club that prefer the aggressive, bold, slutty routine tend to be angry men in general. Perky and sweet always works for me with a dash of slutty for good measure. Not to mention Bubbly and sweet many times attracts a more gentle type of man. Whenever I've tried the bold, aggressive approach I seem to attract a very sexually bold and aggressive man and those are the customers that usually become a little too rough. Just my experience.

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
classy looking, hard to get. talk like if they don't get a dance, its their loss (and it is! )
-
Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
Classy, intelligent, bitchy, expensive, sweet and naive... whatever trips their trigger at that time.

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
No biggie. I have clients who are stuffy and prefer formal relationships. I act formal around them. I have clients who are friendly as hell, and I drink beer and cuss with them. I have clients who are needy, clients who are assertive, and so on. I cater to them as long as I don't sell out my ethics or myself.
It's universal to tailor the approach to the customer.

Geeze I miss the old bikini club days, when clubs were more innocent and the dancers may have been a lot of things, but they were almost always.... themselves.
Lilith, you have to know that there are certain customers that can see through this kind of stuff,
What you fail to realize is that I am all of these things. It's a rare person indeed who is so one-dimensional as to always be defined as "bad girl type" or "bubbly". People do it naturally in the course of their everyday lives. You yourself likely act one way with your grandmother, another way with your college drinking buddies and yet a third way in the company of very lucrative clients. Some strippers are merely more adept at this transformation between normal modes of behaviour.
To illustrate:
I am classy. I own a set of pearls and a hat. I would sooner cut my ears off than wear diamonds in the daytime. I carry with me an aura of self-respect and dignity.
I am a folksy, down-home redneck. I used to barrel race in high school, know the words to "The Rodeo Song" and own a pair of cowboy boots.
I am a bitch. Just ask anyone who mouths off to me or has experienced my wrath after biting me on stage.
I am intelligent. Don't make me post an IQ.
Blah blah blah, you get the point. I assess what a customer wants to see in our initial meeting and then offer it. If he wants innocent naivety, then I swing the conversation to my relative inexperience at stripping and the girl fired last week for drugs (something I am genuinely naive about). If he wants expensive, then I talk about my Christmas Wish List at Nieman Marcus, my dream of living abroad (in, specifically, Italy) and bemoan the expense of having Japanese pearls restrung yearly. The only trick is discovering which aspect of my real self a fellow would like best to see.

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
That is true. You have to learn to fit the mould.
Only the bad eggs will be noticed! Us good actresses will ALWAYS get ya in the pocket! *he he* ;)
-
Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
Sassy.
Any persona you use is going to be a part of yourself - but it might not be a part of yourself that you get to be very often.
-
Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
I think you should become an actress. Fit your personality to that of your customers.

Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
Go with your mood every night. Some nights I feel a little more bubbly and will bat the eyelashes and even, dare I say, giggle like a schoolgirl. Other nights I am a sultry temptress who doesn't say much at all, but just makes smoldering eye contact. I get eased for wearing only black clothes, but even the darkest of goddesses has that lacy pink skirt in the back of her locker that wants to come out and play sometimes! Anyone got a lollipop?
-
Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
sorry, that was teased, not eased!
-
Re: What type of Persona do you use at work?
I think the most important thing is to be lots of fun, with an edge of sexiness to get the guy wanting more...be the life of the party and watch for cues from the guys..they usually make it pretty clear as to what type they like...giggly, etc...and just do that with them

Re:What type of Persona do you use at work?
I once knew a dancer that always wore the same thing, it was a school-girl outfit. She never changed. I think her predictability worked in her favor and she didn't fraternize with the other girls much so that made her even more approachable. Plus she kept a regular schedule and came accross as plain yet pretty. She was the most popular girl in the club until she quit the industry. Who knows? When I have bad nights, I tend to try to change myself in some way, hair, clothes, persona, etc. She seemed to know what she was doing with that.

Re:What type of Persona do you use at work?
Honestly, I just act like me. It works for many customers, especially older guys, whom I would much rather talk to anyway.
I'm smart, so I think some guys find that a turn off...I need to work harder at playing dumb, I just feel that it comes across as so ridiculous.

I know what you mean Jayln, but think of it this way. It does turn some guys off, these are usually guys who are intimidated by smart women. At the same time it turns some guys on. These usually are the smart guys with lots of cash. I've had these guys spend lots of dough on me because of my intelligence. The trick is to figure these guys out(not an easy task) so you can play the bimbo when you have to.
