Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
So I think we all have our own rituals for making a bad night better - you know, when everything sucks, you have something that always works. An outfit or a phone call or something. What is it?
I have positive affirmations taped to the inside of my make up box ("I am a Goddess.. I want me.. you want me.." etc) for quick pick me ups. But on a really really bad night, if I wear my white gown and go on stage at midnight and dance to A Womans Worth, I always make money, no matter what. Sometimes I'll come off stage and have champagne rooms lined up and waiting.
What works for you ladies?

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
We all have to have them so we don't lose our minds on hte bad nights....
Mine is going to my fuck you all Heavy Metal.....(sorry for the swearing, fits the mood)
I get an attitude with certain heavy metal I like, and it shows as energy on stage, In my head I am telling them all what they can do and where they can go, but it always seems to work for me, to relive some stress for me, pick up my energy.. I will get a few comments like "Wow you really dance when your up there" I have to laugh to myself thinking " I was really telling you all to go to Hell "

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I get sexy bitch looking. Black thigh highs, tiny booty shorts, thick spiked dog collar, black lace wrist cuffs, pull all my hair up into a high ponytail, extraheavy black eye makeup with heavy silver eyeshadow, and a shiny black top that makes my boobs look great. Put it all together and I either dance to something hip hop (not my norm at all) or some Linkin Park, usually though Last Resort by Papa Roach or Tainted Love by Marilyn Manson.
I climb all over the poles, do my most difficult tricks, the coolest stage moves, flips and splits, and all the while manage to look sexy as hell. I often take off my collar and spank people, spike side up of course.
This for some reason makes hella money off stage and gets me noticed. Also, during this I manage to incorporate getting the hair out of the ponytail and dancing swinging it everywhere. When I'm done I usually have at least two dances ready right off. When I'm in a nicer mood I go put on one of my more calm looking outfits.
This usually cheers me up. Well, that and singing Adoramus Te' in latin. It calms me and makes me focus because it is sang operatic(this may or may not be a word, opera-like is what I mean) style. The pretty notes and nice sounds do a good job.

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I go to the ladies room and tease my hair in certain areas! very dramatic! Put on bright red lipstick, and lots of black eyeliner, all around the eyes. Hair and makeup change will make me feel very different quickly. Also like Divyne says, the pole! I torture the hell out of it! Those are the night i usually fall, but some guys think thats sexy...?

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
You guys might think I'm masocistic, but I play a little game with myself: I try to see how many "no's" I can get in a row. It is just a personal challenge to keep me moving through the club. My record so far is 27. I rarely get 10 before getting a dance, and I shoot for 10 an hour (turn downs that is). However it has been so slow lately, it is rare that there are even 10 customers in the bar during the week nights to ask for the dance.
I am in the process of building a house right now, so if I have gotten totally rejected by the crowd, I will go back into the dressing room and read magazines like Better Homes and Gardens or the Crate and Barrel catalog getting ideas for my new home-to-be. That seems to cheer me up and it passes the time while I wait for the guys to have a couple more drinks, or more guys to come walking in :)

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
My old club had a DJ who knew specific songs I liked. If I was having a bad night I would adopt a "Fuck em" attitude and just dance for myself (not necessarily looking at myself in the mirror just dancing for me).
As soon as I got tipped on stage or a dance.. BOOM .. my bad mood was instantly removed.
I do try with positive affirmations and a little prayer. I'm not Christian.. just pray to God/dess and Great Spirit for a little help and they always deliver :-)

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I talk to someone who makes me happy.
-
Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I would call my boyfirend and tell him to make me happy, so he'd tell me a joke or tell me that I was beautiful and that I'd make a lot of money - and it always worked. In retrospect it may not have been very healthy (relying on someone else for my happiness) but at the time it was very uplifting. :) :)

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
Paris,
I like you're idea. I do something somewhat similar. Everytime I hear a "No", I think a happy thought and give a big smile. Something I learned from listening to "Anthony Robbing", tapes.

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I mean, "Anthony Robbins"

Re: Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I love the "see how many no's I can get in a an hour"
I sooooo gotta try that!!!

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
Well, for me, it depends on how bad of a modd I'm in...I may change my outfit, usually into one of my shorts outfits. Or, I may ask the DJ to play me some angry bitch music like Alanis Morrisette or "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks. And, if all else fails, I make myself laugh...somehow. It always makes my day seem better no matter what.

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I have since come up with another alternative way to "keep on top of my game"... and it is thanks to something I bought...
"Little Voice" Management Systems CD by Blair Singer.
I use techniques 1, 3, 7 and 12. There is something like 18 techniques on the CD and the ones that I like only take up to two minutes to do.
It has definately helped me and I can testify that due to these techniques I have increased my money when I used them. I didn't use them one particularly very slow shift (where persistance was the key)... and didn't make much money and in a negative mood too boot!
Honestly recommend this CD to everyone. These techniques do work... just pick the ones you like and can use. ;D

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I loved your cheer Foxxee! Very cute :-* I do the same as the other girls pretty much. I change my outfit, freshen up my makeup, call my bf,ask for a message, and a red bull. Those things always gets me back on my feet again. ;)

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I repeat over and over "I Can, I Will, I Must" !!!!!!
Also, I think about the house I'm buying my mother this year and how I Can I Will and I Must make money to pay for it.

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
I recently purchased a book that I thought someone else out there might find helpful (not just me)...
12 Simple Secrets of Happiness at Work.
Glenn Van Ekeren
It is good because the author allows you to pick out the bits that you can use and apply. It is a "for everyone" type of book and I have already picked out bits that I can use from just the first chapter.
I still use the CD. I know the techniques that I use frequently now so I mainly only listen to it to re-fresh my brain (due to how this job is not a job to stimulate the mind).

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
Every night when I come home I write down anything especially witty or wonderful that I said or did and figure out what worked super well that night. I keep all this ina cute little silk/leather and crocheted merino covered notebook that I made, and if I'm having trouble keeping my energy up then I just reread my tips and tricks book. (I take it into a stall in the ladies room so I don't get a bunch of ??'s) This reaffirms in my mind that not only have I kicked booty and met my goals consistenly in the past, but that I can do it again today. Also since I'm an artist and the club I work at isn't the most elegantly furnished, it helps to have a little piece of beauty to touch.
My best quick pick me up is to think over and over in my mind $750, $750 or whatever my nightly goal is!

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
Damn Nina $750? You go girl. But then again I work in Kansas.
The best way to cheer myself up is to try and cheer up the customers and other dancers. I try and feed off of other people's energy. I forget about my sales techniques for a few minutes and just consentrate on good old fun flirting. I also make goofy faces at myself in the mirror.
Flashing my boobs at customers, winking, and walking around like I am the shit always gets me goin!!
Foxy--Loved the cheer, I already printed it and it will be going up in my locker soon!!

MotherDaisy I don't make $750 every day--I have my share of $300 days just like anyone else, but my goal for this year is to make that my daily average. It's possible in Kansas too sweetie! Just ask old Glenda for a little help.....
Was that joke just a little too corny?

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
Hehe foxxy brown I like that cheer...
I wear a favorite outfit/change outfit...
Freshen up my makeup or play with it so its something new and different...
Go to the dj booth and get a hug, give the dj a back rub or lap dance, his response makes me feel so much better :)

Re:Rituals/Positive Affirmations/Whatever
Yaaaay cheer!
I go to the dressing room. I keep my mp3 player in my locker filled with music that I love. The rule I have is that I don't dance to any of the songs in the player on stage. It's a lot of classical and Billie Holiday. Happy girly stuff like Petula Clark. If I feel shitty, I allow myself time to go into the dressing romm and be me. I excuse myself from the bullshit for a little while and come out feeling a lot better.
I'll start on the cheers to!
