Business cards, websites and customers...
Does anyone here know if their club has rules against handing your business card to people you do dances for, with your website address on it?
If you do this - what's on your website?
Is it a pay site? Just a free site with some photos and basic info for your dancer personality and not who you REALLY are... possibly to entice the guy back for more dances if he's a regular, giving you an edge over other girls..?
Its just an idea im toying with. Throw me your thoughts, people! :)

Re: Business cards, websites and customers...
I don't know of any clubs that do. But I don't know anybody who actually does this, either. As to enforcing a "rule" against it, my only question would be: why? That's what "independent contractors" do isn't it--promote their business and it's broad availibilty to the market. Since you're deemed economically savvy enough to assume 100% of the risk in earning an income, you are equally competent to determine what common promotional tactics to use in the pursuit of earning an income.

Re: Business cards, websites and customers...
The last club I visited (albeit, not local; and 'feature-driven'); after her last set, one girl returned to the stage and began firing cards out into the crowd in all directions.
The cards simply had her name, and two pictures of herself on them.
It works....Her name was 'Charlie'....;)

Business Promoting vs Prostitution
Yep, research your local prostitution laws. Vegas is majorly cracking down on exotic dancers with the new lap dance laws. Even if you have no intention of prostitution, if you give an undercover cop a means to contact you they can and sometimes will interpret that as solicitation.
I have a site that I've run for almost 2 years now. Its a total do it yourself job, but it works! Especially since I travel between SF and Vegas, I have a lot of customers check my schedule and email me when/where they are going to be. Although I make a small profit off the members section, the majority of my site is free and I use it more as a communication tool than as a source of income.

Re: Business cards, websites and customers...
Just to let everyone know, we're currently trying to get all of our members free web space. I do not know the conditions yet, but they should be good. If you're interested, keep your eye on this site [and bookmark it if you haven't yet ;D].

Re: Business cards, websites and customers...
I think having web space and cards are a good idea. I have business cards with my web address and name on it. My site is free and agree with Britney, it's more of a communication tool. My domain name is a catchy one so I usually just give them my web address. My site has pictures and most importantly what days i'm at what club. Now when I walk into a club sometimes there's 3-4 clients waiting!
I would suggest giving a card away only to those who ask for one. Most men are married, so you might find your card in the parking lot.
Management hasn't said a thing to me, but I never asked if it was ok I just assumed it was. :)

Re: Business cards, websites and customers...
I have business cards. I have a website, but it is a phone sex site, so i don't give it to customers i dance for. I feel like they may think i am trying to get them to call (pay) for phone sex too. Business card s are good if you have a toll free number.
I can't live up to my hours of service anymore however, so i need to have new cards made up. As i only dance at one club (mainly) now and the cards are not correct. Alot of guys call when back in town, so it works for me.
Pamela. PS Not my email to customers i dance for.

Re: Business cards, websites and customers...
I too have cards, with website info on em! I leave them with a customer after I have tabledanced for him! Good promotionally and makes you memorable...and so what if he tosses em out? Many will keep them, its all about the advertising, mind you same goes with posters given away during a performance or keychains or postcards, merchandising has a way of paying you back one way shape or another. They are also a write off!
Simple web address with your name and pic, its all u really need on it!

Re: Business cards, websites and customers...
I love having my website as it's brought me three new customers in the past two weeks in the club, a real bonus on the slow nights. It also lets customers know when I'm going to be at work (and by putting up my schedule, it makes it less likely I'll skip work since there might be someone coming in to see me, a fine motivational tool). And usually the guys that are interested enough in the site to check me out at work are fun to talk to and spend some money. I won't offer cards to guys with wedding bands unless they ask for fear of getting them busted, but every guy that asks, "When do you work?" gets one, so that he can see my schedule and come in.
I tell the managers where I work and give them a card too; no one's had a problem with it yet since I always make sure to point out the customers I bring into the club to them and they are happy to get the cover and VIP money from them!

Re:Business cards, websites and customers...
Hey Guys, I know this is an old post, but I was just thought that I'd bring it back to life.
I've never seen girls where I'm from giving out cards. I think this avenue of advertising would be very profitable.

Re:Business cards, websites and customers...
Unfortunately where I am (Northern Nevada) it is considered to be advertising for prostitution. I had thought about it but obviously can't do it - I was told I could be fired for it at my previous club.

Re:Business cards, websites and customers...
HI,
I'm a DJ at a club in Maine and I actually build web sites for some of the dancers. The club is very supportive of the idea as long as the girls are using them to draw more return visits from the customers they meet.
P.S. If anyone is looking for a website I have some packages spacifically designed for this purpose. At very reasonable rates.

Malibu - So they build websites for free? thats cool but do you have to be a model? Wot do you think of it?

Re:Business cards, websites and customers...
Seraya,
I actually stumbled upon it quite a while ago and never thoroughly checked it out. I think the free website is very basic, they say that you only get the upgrades, that is the personalised webaddress, email, banners, additional picture space etc, when you pay them $9.95 a month or so.
You don't have to be a model as I saw photography websites there also. I think it's targeted primarily for model self-promotion however...
Maybe when I get back into the industry (stripping) I may check them out, I think it'd be fun to have my own website! :)

Re:Business cards, websites and customers...
Well, I have to say that at least in Tampa, like Veronika said, it's looked at as prostitution. So what I do is this- I have DSL so I leave my work profile on all the time, with a link to my dancer information site. I also have cards that I pass out (not at work, tho) that advertise my info site on one side and my xxx pay site on the other. But yeah, would love to hand them out but local law is too biased about this right now. (Doesn't help that our local head of vice is also a part-time minister.)

Re:Business cards, websites and customers...
At work, I am always asking the bartender/manager for a pen so they guy can give me his number, as he knows I am going to go out with him for sure...yeah right!
I have business cards for my personal business and for my other dance performance/instruction...
I would like to look into getting a pro photographer to take some candid, yet not face revealing photos of me for a page and cards.....
I have not sought out a photographer yet because all of the nude photogs I've ever encountered are horny perverts.....I'd rather just pay for them...
Anyone in Austin/Houston?? Recommendations??

Can be good at first but bad later.
Initially I had business cards with my website address and my photo on them becuase I figured that it would make guys I danced for feel like they had a "souvenier" to take home & it detered them from asking for my #.
Well it didn't quite work out that way for me. Guys would email me and REPEATEDLY ask me out and then get pissed when I didn't email them back. Also they stopped spending money on me.
I think for certain types of clients who are repeat big spenders who are NOT looking for a girlfriend, giving them a business card with your web address is a great idea, but for other nut cases out there, be cautious.

Re:Business cards, websites and customers...
It is funny that this is the first subject that I reallly started to read on this site. I just signed up about three months ago for a service on the web where I can list my schedule every week. I hand out cards with the web address and the guys can check the site.
So far so good. No one at the clubs that I work at have said anything negative. One manager actually was very supportive. The number of dances a night have gone up from about 30-35 to 50 and I see a lot of repeat customers!!
I recently started at a new club and when I got there three guys I knew from my old club were sitting at the bar because they knew I would be there from the site. That just made my night a lot easier right from the start. Of course, there are some guys who never get a card. Bad behavior if you know what I mean. The guys can leave you messages on the site and vise versa but I have only had a few so far. So anyway, if this helps anyone, great! It seems like it is working for me.
