Private Dancers
Would appreciate hearing from those who have done private parties and private dancing.
I've been asked many times to do them and have decided to have a go at it as long as
"horizontal bopping" is not in the contract.
What's the "norm" for pay? Do's, don'ts, helpful hints and tricks welcome also.
I am an exotic dancer currently working a Bikini Club and have danced at topless/nude clubs as well.
please respond directly to [email protected]
Thanks,
Samantha

Re: Private Dancers
Hey this is Lady Don I don't know about other companies or booking agents but I'm entertainment manager and all of my entertainers are paid very well plus tips an hour for private party bookings. I also provide you with exotic dance classes, artist development, a driver and security to and from bookings. But every manager isn't a female and thy're not the Lady Don looking out for her entertainers properly no strings attached so if you're in NYC give me a call.

Re: Private Dancers
Anyone else have experiences as a entertainment managers, etc? I'm thinking of starting an agency with my partner.
From a real world perspective, what are the negatives to watch out for? How about zoning laws? Can they bust you for zoning violations if a dancer goes to a persons home in a neighborhood? We'll be talking to a lawyer soon, but real world experience always helps. Thanks!

Re: Private Dancers
Hi Al,
It depends where you are. In LA Orange and LA counties are very difficult. You can be in one of those little towns and need a liscense from that city, and go ten minutes down the road to another city and you need a different liscense there. The cops are often right on your ass, but not too smart about it.
Other places there's a lot less problems. It really depends on the political and social climate of any given location...
The private dance agency that my freind worked for was liscensed as singing telegrams, when I went and looked them up...

Re: Private Dancers
Thanks, Lena...that sounds like good advice. We'll be bringing up a lot of issues to our lawyer to make sure everything's covered. We're fully aware of the police situation in our area, but aren't so sure of zoning details. So, we have to keep an eye on everything. We'll be most likely registering as an entertainment agency, maybe hire a few singing telegram people as well. I think what your friend did is smart.

Re: Private Dancers
I have been doing parties and private shows for years. I love it! I'd be happy to answer any of your questions. Periodically I also dance in clubs because I miss it.
Advantages:
(1) In the springtime while doing parties it's feasible to make $8000/month just working Friday and Saturday nights.
(2) Financially much better when doing an hour-by-hour comparisons.
(3) I don't have to see anyone I don't feel comfortable with.
(4) The agency I work will call me if a regular wants to see me.
(5) Easier to go to school. My private show schedule is set on a day-by-day basis.
(6) Less chance of running into someone I know.
(7) Not much interaction with other dancers so I don't have to deal with the dressing room drama that always occurs in a club.
The disadvantages:
(1) Gets really slow in the winter. You may also have to work at a club during these months to pay your bills.
(2) It's hit-and-miss. At least worjking in the club you know you'll make SOME money.
(3) Much higher risk of getting attacked.
(4) Depending on the city risk of being arrested for prostitution is much higher--whether doing "extras" or not.
(5) Your friends/family/boyfriend will assume that you are really hooking.

Re: Private Dancers
I am sure someone has told you to bring a bouncer with you. Call him a driver and set him outside if it's a one on one if it's a big Bachelor Party he is expected to come in.
Another good tip is to bring a bug, you can buy them at a spy store or if you don't want to put the money out right away for one just call your drivers cell phone and leave your phone on at the top of your open purse. Remember to carry your purse into any room you go into. Get code words to alert your driver about various situtaions you may encounter. This particular tip has saved a woman I knows life. The client grabbed her and covered her mouth and the driver was alerted by her silence since she is such a talker! The driver was able to frighten the man by banging the door so loudly that she was able to get away.
You are in control if you set a boundary and it is broken give a warning sternly if it is broken again LEAVE! They will try to take advantage of you if they sense weakness. And I am sure you don't have to be told not to do drugs or too much alcohol before a party.

Re: Private Dancers
I just reported this troll. They bumped a whole bunch of threads last night. I suspect they did it so they can look at certain hidden areas.
