Hi Jazmyne, welcome to stripperweb!
There are a couple of threads on here regarding clubs in texas and we also have a a few members here who dance there so they sholud be able to help you out!
Seraya.
Hi there! i live in Houston and work at Caligula XXI, It is best to work day shift first as the atmosphere is more relaxed and tip out is lower. You have to learn to keep the guys at bay.
Plus I can assist you if you need it :)
Juliette de Sade
If you are going to work in H-Town, be prepared to hustle, and for most clients to expect lots of touching and possibly sexual favors....
I like Caligula too. Juliette, did you know that they are closing Ricks in the Galleria??
closing? you would figure that that was the cash crop of the bunch other than NO....interesting. i know they own the land and the building and that area is pricey, wonder what will take its place? http://www.ricks.com/pressreleases/pr42.html
Ohmigod no, i did not have any idea! Ricks is closing? When? One girl I know who switches back and forth says that Rick's isn't cutting it for her anymore. Still, Rick's is almost as old as Caligula. PS_The property it is on isn't THAT centralized and grand as it is not RIGHT on Richmond......maybe not as pricey as one would think. What was your scource of info, Katrine? Such a shock.
Houston is a slow hard hustle which is indeed challenging. Can be a headache at times.
Juliette de Sade
Actually, I can't remember who told me, but they told me it was very hush, hush, and that the closing was because the cops are always on the club's ass, and the other locations are doing so well.
This was not a person I know well, so this might be made up information...just passin it down the line. I HATED working at Ricks, but I made good money there in 2002....
The Colorado would be a good place to start out since management there is very nice, helpful and supportive. Contact there is a little lower than other clubs. I worked there one night and then went to Treasures. The manager at Treasures told me the contact there is much higher than at the Colorado. I experienced this to be true, although contact is high everywhere.
If you are weak at heart and you can't can handle handsy, aggressive guys without getting totally offended, don't dance in Houston. You must have a strong sense of yourself in order for it not to ruin you. Don't expect that guys will automatically keep their hands (and tongues) to themselves without you telling them.
Good luck and I'd be glad to answer any questions although my experience comes only from dancing at the two clubs mentioned above plus some insight I gained from speaking personally to managers at most of the major clubs.

Newbie: By all means, do yourself afavor, and start at The Men's Club, if at all possible. This is the most upscale club in Houston, with the least amount of contact and most helpful, considerate management. Avoid Treasures until you learn the hustle at TMC, and learn to set personal contact boundaries.
I agree with Juliet, the Men's Club is really nice place with respectful clientele.
I don't work there because I do not live in H-Town, and The Men's Club is super lucrative if you can snag regular clientele...in my situation, I need to hustle and don't have time to build a client base. What do you think Juliet, is that still the situation at the Men's Club, where you need to be a full-time dancer there to bank, or have times changed?
Management @ Colorado is pretty cool BUT the contact level has gotten pretty high and there isn't much $$ to be made there.....
If you look classy, try the Men's Club, let me know how it went, I have been thinking of working there sometime in the spring anyway for the hell of it.....
Honestly, I would not recommend Houston for any newbie.
Juliette de Sade hit the nail on the head, "A slow hard hustle which can be challenging and a headache at times."
No wonder I had several headaches the last 2 weeks while working there.
Let me tell you why I feel this way.
Houston has a lot of clubs and more fancy, plush and upscale demeanor operations than any city in the country aside from Dallas.
The national and local economy can't accomodate the clubs there the way they were meant to be accomodated. Lunch buffets and dinners which are probably on a 3 star level, valet parking, which is more abundant than free parking, bathroom attendants and shoe shine men, a minimum of 12 waitresses on the floor at once and the waitresses pay to work there like dancers do. It's to the point now where if you are not running a tab you might as well go to the bar and get your own drink.
Houston does not allow soliciting customers for tips therefore the DJ does not push the guys to tip on stage. You will not learn how to put on a show on stage and work the crowd for tips there. Girls don't walk from table to table asking for dances regularly there which is the kind of momentum you need to gain experience in the business. Girls just sit with a customer and try to work him for big money. It's all about getting big money there but the clubs have more average guys in the crowd than money ones. These are the guys who tip on stage and buy one or two dances in clubs in other cities but in Houston they spend nothing.
Many guys have been hustled and overcharged in Houston clubs so more and more of them are standoffish when approached by a dancer.
More and more guys are looking for sex in the clubs there and will refrain from spending money if it is not available. And they drive a hard bargain. With so many girls working and less customers with big money to blow, girls get desperate and give into guys sexual offers more so than in the past. When a girl has worked all day and sold no one, and finally a guy offers her $60 for a bare backed blow job, she is many times so happy to get $60, that sex is second nature.
I can't think of one club I would recommend to you. The Mens Club is stuffy and if you don't have the exact looks and body they like, you won't get hired. And that club is not very popular since contact is low there. Guys can go around the corner to Treasures, or Centerfolds, or to Michaels which guys nickname "TGSOE" (The Greatest Show on Earth) since sex is readily available at reasonable prices.
You have to learn to talk money out of guys here and keep the guys in check while giving them an arousing enough dance to get them to spend money.
Plus with an astronomical amount of dancers in the bigger clubs you will without experience have a hard time finding potential customers. And the small clubs like Chics, Leggs, Mirage, or Moments for example don't have much income potential or the right kinds of customers to make money off of.
I really recommend if you can leave town for awhile going to Albuquerque and getting hired at TD's on Eubank Ave. It is a busy Sports Bar type of club with inexpensive dances and a restaurant. Guys tip on stage and girls go table to table selling dances, plus they have a VIP room but it is affordable. It is a party atmosphere and you will learn a lot about the business there and make money on stage and from table to table selling dances. That will teach you the ropes and get you comfortable approaching guyswith minimal rejection and give you the chance to learn how to sell the VIP room to select customers.
If you absolutely can't learn the business in that type of club, you could try Fantasy North or South. Not as many sexual favors go on in the nude clubs and the guys tip on stage, of course the weekdays aren't good there and all the momentum is on the weekends.
I can tell the dancers who have only worked in Houston as they don't know how to approach every customer since they never worked in a floor hustle and stage tipping club. Many of them once they get desperate give guys cheap sexual favors rather thyan go home with no money.
Thats my honest .02 worth.
Tina, that's very realistic and good advice. Its been hard to make money in Houston for a long time, and I have 7 years of dance experience, so I know how to hustle, but its TOUGH!!!
I started dancing at Expose in Austin. The earnings potential is not that good but the contact is lower, the dancers are (were) hounds about turning over girls doing extras, and the most of the management is super cool......Austin is less than 3 hours away...maybe you should go there....goodl luck!!
Wow ladies thanks so much for all the great info. So it sounds like if I can get hired @ TMC then I should try my luck there. I had a male friend that recommended Trophy Club, b/c it's smaller & he thinks it'd be easier to start out small. What do any of you know about that place?
Tina, you know "us" way too well. ;)Quote:

I would try TMC first, because of the prime Galleria location. The Trophy club is on the North side of Houston and last time I was there it was pretty dead. ( One of my girlfriends works there ) Trophy Club is one of the nicer ( atmosphere and clients ) small clubs in Houston. You might also want to try Rick's North and South they are both small clubs too.Quote:

Does anyone know how St. James is ? I worked there awhile ago, but have heard that its dead and very high mileage now..
I work at St James when I am not on the road. You know that mileage is about the same at all the top Houston clubs. Sex is on the menu in all of them.Just a lot of dancers which is why I work bookings in the Upper Midwest now and just work there every 3-4 months. Christmas was slow. With less girls it would be allright but this business is on the skids nationwide in my opinion. I'll see how it is during the SuperBowl and the week after.
My fingers are crossed.
hi ladies, well it is my first time danceing too. and i work at babydolls. It is ok, but the money is to hard there and i think that babydolls and worth working for , what do you think? help!!!
Sweetie,
Babydolls sucks ! Try the Ritz, Treasures, St.James is good, I have worked at all of those clubs and done very well..
PM me if you have any questions..also check www.stripclublist.com for a complete list of Houston clubs
xoxoxo,
Farrah
Babyjade, I currently go back and forth between Rick's North and Splendor because I live about an hour north of Houston. When I move to Houston I plan on trying some of the larger clubs like Treasures or Men's Club, I hear they are the best.
I've only been doing this for a month (weekends only) and the 2 places I've been to have been very lucrative. I felt more comfortable starting out @ a smaller club.
Good Luck.
How is splendor ? Is the money good ??Quote:

The $ is pretty good considering that the club is out of the way and it's low milage. I do know of some girls who don't do well but they are the ones who don't move around a lot. There aren't that many girls there and Tommy (current weekend manager) is really cool. Tip out on fri & sat if your there b4 7 it's $18 after 8pm is $38.
A friend of mine from St. James works there on Fridays and a few day shifts off and on. She says it's a good change of pace because there aren't that many girls. She only will work days though.
Splendor should be busier being by the #2 volume mall in Houston but that club never really took off.
Treasures and St. James will attrract more guys with money but the amount of girls makes it really competitive to make steady money. Plus St. James is getting a lot of hood rat type guys in there especially at night who just sit around and look dangerous. Saturday night the police and bomb squad was called to the club because someone had put a bomb by the safe most likely trying to blow it open. No one would tell us what was going on as they obviously did not want to scare anyone, but that had to be an inside job. The thugs probably got their girls to get work there and scope the place out so they could rob it.
Often you have to weed out the dope boys and hustlers to get to the good customers. But this is Houston right. Lots of money guys and lots of hustles and game being run. :-\
OMG..Thats scary. When I worked there before we did have a few guys from the hood. But not to this level and they spent $$. Before Spendors was Splendors it was owned by te same company that owns St. James. A few friends of mine danced there. I never really liked the set up. But the dressing room and lockers were nice and so was the stage. I just didn't like the way the floor was layed out.
Wow hope St. James doesn't end up going down hill. I am going to Houston this weekend so , I'll have to check it out.
I usually work closer to the Galleria area now.
I wouldn't try Trophy Club- that was my first club and I worked there for a year before I realized that not every club sucks that bad.
From what I hear, Trophy Club was the place to be 10 years ago. I haven't worked there in over a year, but last I hear and from what I remember, there is only one night a week (either fri or sat) where the place actually gets (relatively) busy. When I worked there, I averaged about $150-200 a night (although the last week I worked, I didn't even make tip out)
St. James might be a good place to start as long as you avoid the VIP room (at least until you have confidence in setting your limits)- Ive worked there for the past year. Although my money has slowed down, new girls tend to make lots. Also, they don't require a license, have booths, and contact on stage is against the rules. Booths can be good in the sense that you don't feel like everyone's watching you(something I remember feeling as a newbie when I really didn't know what I was doing) and managers walk by and check the rooms- especially down stairs- at least once a song. Also, I've never left there with less than $200.
Expect to have contact by hands and tongue to the upper body, but if you don't want genital contact, I've never really had a problem as long as I didn't make a big scene about it. Also, I've averaged $500 in a 6 hour shift- thursday and friday afternoon/nights have been the best and I usually make around $700.
Tina-
I can't believe someone set a bomb in TSJ!!! Greg suspended me for the week because some guy's wife walked into the booth and wouldn't leave. He never said anything to me, but when I came into work the next day, Ken said I was suspended for giving a woman a dance, which is a complete lie. Anyways, I guess I'm glad I wasn't there for the bomb scare.
