No Money After the Holidays!
I have just returned to work after my Christmas break from college and am making little to nothing at all! I have only been dancing since the summer so I don't know exactly whats going on. I always did very well at this club but now I almost think I'd do better working at the Gap part time! Should I wait this through? And if so, how long uis this going to last? :-\
Re:No Money After the Holidays!

Re:No Money After the Holidays!
Everyone's paying off the Pokémon bill at the moment (I swear to GOD I spent 200$ on Yugio cards alone this Christmas). Just tough it out, people are all broke.
Re:No Money After the Holidays!
January and February are traditionally very slow seasons for clubs, with the exception of clubs located in popular vacation spots like Florida. In the northeast, club customers have a lot of additional expenses to deal with such as post-christmas credit card bills, high home heating bills, or saving for a "winter vacation" in Florida.
Besides expenses going up, lots of guys have seen their paychecks go down due to Social Security taxes kicking back in. If a guy earns more than $80,000 or so per year, once his total yearly income passes that amount they stop taking social security taxes out of remaining paychecks adding $100-$200 to his weekly paycheck. But as soon as January rolls around the social security taxes are again taken out of his paychecks.
Also a factor is that many guys owe additional taxes on 2003 income as a result of the stock market having the first winning year since 1999. Guys who bought and sold stocks at a profit during last year's rising market now owe taxes on those profits which were probably not withheld at the time of the stock sales. This means that these guys will need to pony up several thousand dollars in extra tax payments both by the January 15th estimated tax deadline and definitely by the April 15th tax filing deadline. This could be money which they may not have set aside last year when they sold their stocks at a profit (and hopefully spent the profits in a club LOL), causing a big cash crunch through April 15th.
With the poor economy last year, year end bonuses have mostly been tiny or nonexistant this January. With lingering unemployment, pay raises have been small and rare as well. Put all of these financial factors all together, then add on the icky cold weather, and it's quite understandable why club earnings suck right now.
I would expect to see a turn for the better after April 15th. This is because the weather will improve greatly, heating bills will go way down, income tax liabilities will be paid and refund checks will start arriving etc. Things probably won't get back to "normal" in regard to club business levels and earnings potential until June though.
Re:No Money After the Holidays!
heres the cliff nots to melonies's post - LOL!! People are broke and worn out after the holidays no matter where you work. It usually picks up again towards mid march. I alwyas tell girls to hold onto there money during the holidays because you will need it afterwards. - good luck and be patient it will comeback.
Re:No Money After the Holidays!
It all depends on where you work. Do you work in an area where it snows and is very cold? Does your club pull a clientele that has to travel from out of town to get to the club in icy conditions?
The beginning of February sees people putting money in their pockets from tax returns and since most w-2 people file electronically now and get their money in a matter of a day or so you should see better business soon.
Clubs slow down around Easter also, and some will stay slow after Easter if in hot weather climates. It just depends on where you are but those refund checks should be trickling into the clubs now.
Re:No Money After the Holidays!
I have been wondering the same thing because money is not good at my club right now either. I drive a hour one way to get to work and its not been worth it at all.
I just hope it gets better soon.
