New boots
I just got my first pair of the patent leather boots that lace in front, have a zipper hidden on the inside seam, and the tall tall heel. Just wanted to know if like with the clear plastic shoes (having to go down a size, etc) are there any secret or not so obviouse things I sould know about?

Re:New boots
I have those boots Fawn...just remember to relace them from the bottom periodically so that they continue to support the ankles, get traction pads for the bottom..Also, I wear a pair of knee highs so that they do not rub against my skin with another sock over them to protect and warm my foot.....they are the best shoes ever and the only way I can do any real pole work too...hahahahaha!

Re:New boots
boots are better a size bigger so you can wear socks with them. also those gel'n insoles are good to help cushin your foot.

Re:New boots
i agree with katrine, i absolutely adore boots like those. i like the look and that i can wear socks underneath, instead of being barefoot. and acrobatic stuff is like, only possible with those, at least for me ;)

Re:New boots
This sounds funny but when I was a newbie (like 2 years ago) I wore my new black shiny plastic knee high boots and when I'd walk the plastic would catch and make me stutter a little when I'd walk. I looked to retarded trying to walk in those things. Eventually the plastic was dulled a little but it was hell breaking those ones in! :o

Re:New boots
fawn, you say patent... is it just the zipper thing or something elese special about them?
i am curious, what color, what type of heel (stiletto or broader), with plateau?
i am not very tall and do go for plateaus. for dancing the only thing that works for me is broad hees. i just can't do it in stilettos.

Re:New boots
Yep, the heels are broad. I actually bought a size smaller then normal, because my normal size just seemed a little too big. I hope I did the right thing. Bought the traction pads. Going to be wearing these tomarrow night, I hope they make me good money. I was kind of worried that with my sparkly green and black booty shorts, and bikini style top, I might look like a super hero. I already head the problem with an outfit I thought was awsome, it is deep red with little felt hearts over it for V-day. My friend told me the way the bottoms were shaped from far away it looked like a watermelon with seeds.

Re:New boots
Im pretty sure that I know exactly which boots you mean, I have the same ones, with a platform sole and chunky heel. Definitely wear knee highs at least until they are broken in. They can really chafe the legs... ouch. The pole tricks are so much easier in them too. I love them.

Re:New boots
I have those boots too! I wear them with knee socks, to protect my skin from chaffing and regular socks to keep my feet comfy. If you wear them for long periods of time you might notice they can make your feet sweat horribly, so I sprinkle foot powder all down the inside. They are so comfy, I've even worn them out clubbing and didn't fall on my ass.
