gown clubs
i am trying out new clubs in my area...and Thee Dollhouse here is a gown club. i have only worked in nude clubs and where i can wear cute costumes. does anyone here work in a gown club? how are they different? when i called the club and asked the normal questions, she told me to bring a "nice gown". now, exactly how nice? i am assuming she meant something nicer than the little tube dresses for $40 at Pricillia's. I am going tomorrow night to check the club out, but it is lingerie night...so unless a nice dancer shows me the dresses she dances in...i won't get to see what the woman meant.
oh, and this is the one in raleigh...if anyone works there.

Re:gown clubs
i work in a gown club. a nice gown would be something elegant, but sexy not prom gown looking although i have seen that type of dress at a doll house. well past the knees, some clubs make exceptions if the gown is not truly to the floor. not a cheepy tube dress. think "expensive" as in you are expensive, elegant, classic. nice rinestone or other nice looking jewelry to compliment.

Re:gown clubs
I always tried to mimic the gowns/dresses the stars wore at the awards! They are beautiful. "Lucky" (shopping mag. for women) had excellent $500 dresses that you can mimic for say....$50. Simply add a button here, a lace thing there and a tie string anyplace!
Well worth a try.

Re:gown clubs
Go check out Suits You on Hillsborough Ave down near Oldsmar- it's in the shopping center where Planet 9 Ball is- Lucy ( the owner- or her husband) will set you up perfectly for Dollhouse and there prices are much better than Pricella's. Also be sure to tell them you are already a dancer- they'll give you a discount- Lucy makes over half the stuff in the store herself- she's just great. I stop in her store everytime I'm in that area and always find tons of stuff ! From your pics I'd say you'll get hired at Dollhouse in a pinch ;)

Re:gown clubs
I forgot to add that you'll want to get a matching top and T-back to go with your gowns as mainstage 2nd song at Dollhouse is bikini 3rd topless.

Re:gown clubs
thank you so much for the help. rayanna, are you in the raleigh area? i will check out that store on monday. the club told me to come to the amateur contest on monday night to auditions. funny thing is that in all these years...i have never had to do a contest like this! lol.
i had no idea about the bikini for the second song...i guess the lady forgot to tell me that part on the phone.

Re:gown clubs
opps- I thought you were talking about the Tampa area- there's a Dollhouse there and a Pricellas store too- sorry got confused. I didn't say the city 'cause i thought you were just being careful. I'm on the west coast of FL a few hours south of Tampa.

Re:gown clubs
lol..that is ok. is it safe to assume that the one up here has the bikini thing for the second song too?

Re:gown clubs
couldn't tell ya on that one, if you have a matching set bring it, but I wouldn't go spending anything extra . Maybe ask one of the regular dancers tomorow night?

Re:gown clubs
I live in Raleigh and have been to Thee Dollhouse many times. Monday is good because of the amateur contest. If you finish in the top 3 you also win some money. It's $500 total I think its $250 for 1st $150 2nd and $100 for 3rd. As for the gowns I can't tell you much but they wear them everynight but Sun. From looking at your picture you should do fine. If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them.
Good Luck
Chris

Re:gown clubs
well, an update...i went sunday to check out the club. it was nicer than i thought it would be....and the girls were ok...i guess i was expecting all 10's walking around. it was interesting...i went on monday for the contest, and they canceled it due to only 2 girls coming to be in it. so i just went on a back stage and auditioned. and yeah...they hired me. lol

Re:gown clubs
Congrats Emilybelle! Tell us how it works out for you. I've never danced in an upscale gown club. What are the pro's and con's? I think I'd see it as a hassle if the money wasn't doubled. I think they also have more rules and tighter schedules. I like coming into work whenever I want and having the option of how glamerous I want to look. ::)

Re:gown clubs
Hi Emily! Do you live in the Raleigh area? I live about an hour and 15 minutes away from here. I'm not sure about the earnings at the Dollhouse right now, but at one time Dockside Dolls in Garner was doing good. Also you might want to try the Myrtle Beach area if you aren't too far away.

Re:gown clubs
shedevil...thank you. i cant tell the pros and cons just yet. although i have noticed that it is very low contact. and the girls don't seem to smile very often. lol there are more rules here, but i think it will be ok. they dont really have a pole to do pole work on, and you can't do floor work either.
venecia, i don't live in the raleigh area. i live a few hours away in the western part of the state. i used to work at Dockside in graham, and i have heard that the one in garner was doing well. i have thought about going to the masters a bit over the summer. i dont know if they let dancers just visit like that though.

Re:gown clubs
Masters allows girls from out of town. It is best though from what I've bee told to go there around the end of February. This is when golf season starts and girls are coming in from everywhere.
