I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Hi there..new to the board and I was hoping anyone might help me with my question. I'm 24 years old and i want to dance but I'm not sure if I have the right look or if there even is one? I'm 5'4, blonde, green eyes, tanned but I look really young for my age, I'm petite with a nice body but theres something about me that looks like a teenager and not a woman. I know there's guys that would like my body or think I'm sexy but I never thought of myself as a typical dancer with big breasts, long legs and full of confidence. I'm a little shy but I kow that would go away once I started dancing. I've danced before for a couple months in a topless only bar but never naked. What I'm most afraid of is not measuring up, I can pass for 21 but I just have this look about me that is innocent and I shouldn't be there and I'm afraid the customer might see through me and give me the whole'you shouldn't be working here' talk. Anyone else have this problem? I guess it's just a case of having little confidence which is one of the main reasons why I'd like to dance, I know I can do it but I don't want to look like a shy little girl either..or be pointed at by other dancers/customers. Am I just paranoid? any help on this I'd really love to hear some comments..
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
OMG, you'll be fine! There is nothing to be unconfidant about! However, sometimes even the prettiest girls get rude customers or customers that don't consider her their type, and they may say something about it that could hurt your self-esteem, not help it. Considering your profile, I know that those occasions would be rare or maybe even never! But if and when they do happen, shake it off and remember that that customer is not in the norm! As far as age, looking young is an advantage! I used to dance, and people would ask me all the time, "Are you sure you're old enough to be here?" I would wear school girl outfits and play off of the young look (I was well over 21). I have yet to see a young-looking girl have trouble because of looking young.
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Hey Frangiapani,
When I first started, I thought the same thing. I am 23 and I look pretty young. At first I hated it, and even asked for advice here when I first started about makeup and how to look older. But everyone advised me to take advantage of my young look for now because guys will eat it up.
:) Have fun girl...work that look!!!
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Honey, every customer that comes through the door, has an idea of what sexy is, and this could be drastically different for each person, but looking young can never be wrong.
I'm 27, can pass for 23, and my 5ft 3in 100 pound frame is barely a C cup and I can make a good living without the long legs and big breasts. Im rarely ever full of confidence, Ive just learned to fake it in the last 9 years. You will be great! Good Luck!
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
I am in agreement with everyone.
I am a petite girl who is only 5 foot 1, 57kgs with a small breast cup (12A at best). I never saw my looking young as a dis-advantage... "good things come in short packages" so I decided to play off this look - school girl is a money maker for me as I pull it off well (compared with some dancers).
I play on the cutsey angle as well sometimes. So.. yes you are being paranoid. Don't worry about the customers and other dancers... just worry about yourself and reaching your goals.
There are always customers who will gobble up the teenager look... so ignore those rude, arrogant (etc) customers. "Water off a ducks back".. don't take anything dis-respectful customers say seriously as there are still plenty of other club customers who will like you and "your look".
Looking younger is a plus in re: to coming up with a stripper persona. For instance, I say I'm 23 when I'm in fact 25.
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Thank you, GoldCoastGirl, that was beautifully stated!! If any customer does say anything, remind yourself that you probably would even give him the time of day in the real world, its just your job in the club.
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
You'll do well. :) Sometimes guys tell me that I look sweet and innocent  (if only they knew, LOL) or that I don't look like a stripper. Some guys think that there is a certain way that all strippers look, and they don't realize that we look as different from each other as girls in any other profession. It sounds like you have the innocent girl next door look and guys go nuts over that.
Don't worry about boob size either. The size of your breasts has very little to do with how much money you'll make; it's your overall looks and personality. I've known some girls who got boob jobs and made more money, but it's because of the confidence their boobs gave them, not just because they got bigger boobs. :)
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
you will big fine! your body is petite and little. I'm a 36C or D and I weigh 130lbs I'm also 5'8. Wrok with what you got and make that money
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Oh hell yeah, you'll be just fine... I don't look my age, and when I tell people they are surprised... just go out there and do your thing.. different strokes for different folks... every guy is different and not every guy likes the same thing.... that's what makes this business so great!
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
You're going to be just fine. I've heard the same concerns you are having from more dancers than I can count. Some of the best and most successful dancers I've ever met are the ones who don't look the part. You don't have to look, dress, or have the "image" of a pornstar to dance in a gentlemen's club. I always laugh because the public perception of what a "dancer" should look like is often far from reality.
I could be standing in line behind many dancers I know at the bank and if I didn't know better, I'd never guess in a million years they were successful exotic dancers.
I recently was talking to a friend who was a dancer here in Vegas. Her day-job is she is an income-tax attorney. Nobody in her office knew what she did on the side and recently she told one of her fellow attorneys that she was also an exotic dancer. As it turned out, two weeks later he was in her club with some friends from out of town on a bachelor party and she approached them. She said he nearly had a heart attack and said, "I thought you were joking!" In her law office, she's usually wearing a business suit that's not very flattering. When she dances, she's very glamorous. It just goes to show that you don't have to look like a "stripper" or what the peception of that is, whatever it is, to do well in this business.
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
It's not what you look like...it's how you act. Have fun and you will do fine. I'm 29, but everyone thinks I look about 23. In the end, it's how you make the customer feel that is going to make you the money. I've seen girls that are 5's outdoing the 10's in a club. It's all about the hustle and the conversation...and not about the looks. Sure, everybody loves Barbie...but, she can't have a conversation for s**t. :)
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Trust me, if I can dance, anyone can.
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
I get told all the time that I look like i am way too young, and that i should be doing something different cause I am so innocent looking..hahaha like i am innocent :) it's not the size of the vehicle that matters, it's the way you drive it :)
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
weren't you the girl stuck in mexico city?
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Im in agreement with everything that has been said here. Im sure you will do fine. Customers dont have a fixed type of girl they want to see and if they do then it varies from person to person. There is no specific "look". Wish you luck!
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??

Damn straight! A whole club full of them.
but I never thought of myself as a typical dancer with big breasts, long legs and full of confidence.
There is no typical dancer, in my opinion. Some have large breasts, some small. Some long legs, some not. Some with full rears, some not. Long hair, short hair, blonde hair, red, black, etc. Variety is the spice of life and we like all varieties!
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Don't worry...I'm a shorty too. I'm 26 and people think I'm 18-19... ::) make it work for you.

yes that was her. redlightgreenlight, notice this post was first made in february. The Mexico City fiasco was maybe april or may? As far as I know she has not been heard from since. :-\
Re:I want to dance..but do I look like a dancer??
Go for it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I spend time with lots of ladies. Personality is more important then what type of look you have.
Just like you find certain types of guys that attract you, so do guys. I happen to like petite ladies so go for it.
If a guy makes a negative comment ( and I apologyze for them in advance because there are jerks out there who will do it), remember, he is both an idiot and a jerk. One time I couldn't help but get in the face of a drunk customer that was giving one of my dancer friends grief and saying crappy things to her.
