Re:Schools for Exotic Dancing
I have attended the Pure Talent school for exotic dancing in Florida! You will go to class during afternoons and you can work in the evening. Classes are held at a stripclub (while it's closed). When I attended about 4 years ago it was 500.00, not too bad for a week...overpriced for teaching me what I already knew! I stayed at a hotel nearby that had a kitchen set up...homestead suites I believe. They'll hook you up with the info if you ask. The owner Ann Marie is amazing! Also a great staff in her office. A great support system for you while you're on the road. The dance teacher then was Jade Simone St. Clair. She had a very strong dance background, very professional. But I didn't learn anything...except the traveling house dancer experience (that can't be taught or bought)
With that said...I went alone, I had no one who wanted to travel at that time so the school was a way for me to gain confidence. Even if it was temporary! My best advice is to dance at many different clubs so you gain experience, creativity, and knowledge from other stages, dancers, etc. That is the only way to learn...just do it! I traveled coss country 2 years after visiting the school and it was a wild 5 months I'll always remember.
It made me a better dancer and woman in every way. School is an option if you need a support system, I recommend grabbing a friend and hitting the road. Just be prepared for all that come with either ride.
Good Luck to you!
Re:Schools for Exotic Dancing
I am very interested in the Teleconference classes. Saving up my money for this, as I only dance once a week.
I hope amber is doing ok with her endometriosis. I have endo as well and can relate. I had surgery a year ago with a specialist in california after doing 2 years research on the disease, techniques for treatment and checking out the specialists, referrals etc. I'm doing great now! Hope everything goes well. Let me know if you need any help with research or info.
Re:Schools for Exotic Dancing
Hi guys, I'm new to this board but Farrah knows me :)
I have a features school in Florida also, but I usually only take girls that an agent sends to me. I teach general dance, choreography, music and costume selection. I also shoot the girls portofolio, make costumes and burn all the girls c.d.s I wrote a book that pretty much covers everything from diet to investing money to club etiquette. It's a coffee and vivarin week for me, but my girls are ready for their first booking when they walk out the door. :)
I have a few of the biggest girls in the business coming out of myschool..but it is expensive.
Let me know how you did at PT!

I know quite a bit of women with Endo and it's horrible. I honestly can't relate, and I do see the side-effects from it and I can only imagine it's horrible. Amber's had a rough month...I spoke to her last night and was wondering why I haven't seen her online much lately. Her laptop took a dump. She started hearing a grinding noise coming from the computer (usually not a good sign) and being the computer nerd she is, quickly came to the conclusion it was the hard-drive. She called her computer manufacturer and at least got some good news there. She called at just the right time because the warrantee on the computer was due to expire in three days. So, it's being repaired as we speak. I keep telling her she really needs to get in here on SW, and she's been reading the posts when she gets time at my house. She'll be in here soon enough though, and I think she just finished an article for this site to go to Pryce soon.

Ask me a queastion Farrah and I'll reply :)
Re:Schools for Exotic Dancing
Okay Jen..
How much is the school, how long is it and where will the classes take place ? What type of information will be covered ? How large will the classes be ? How long have you been offering classes ?
Re:Schools for Exotic Dancing
Whew- I'm a brief poster, but here goes :)
I've been teaching for 4 years now. Mary Carey was one of my students :) The class is one weel long, and I only take one girl per week, unless it is a duo. My original intent was to only take features on the circuit an help them upgrade their shows, but I had a lot of agents send me girls with credits and almost zero dance experience. These girls were pretty much "booked" already, they just needed to learn how to feature.
I have a queastionairre that I have the ladies fill out at the beginning of the week. I want my girls to leave as an "army of one" :) prepared to do everything on their won. I even teach them how to use various computer programs and how to build a web site if they wish to learn.
The school is (like PT)a thousand a week. I have a book ready for the ladies, with all the paper work, (I'm big on paperwork!) and when they leave it will be filled with c.d's (w/ their pic on it of course) of all their show, and shows they plan on doing in the future. We figure out what shows are compatible with the girls personality and we go from there. I rarely tell the girls what to do, I ask queastions, and they answer..usually it's the answer to the question they asked me . We take one of their shows and choreograph it together, then they coreograph a few shows themselves, and we fine tune it. we discuss packing, travel, make up, hair , props, gimmicks etc. etc.
I make costumes too, so while they are working on their shows, I'm making costumes.
IF they wanta web site I do it for them, if they need promo I shoot it. It goes on and on.........we drink lots of coffee too :)
Hope that helps. Jen
