POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
hey everyone! i am curious to know what type of clothing you wear?
1) do you prefer clothes in solid colors or prints or both?
2) what types of prints you you like - flames, florals, retro?
3) do you like bright neon colors, plain black or white, neutrals or all of the above?
4) do you like sheer meshes or opaque fabrics?
5) do sparkly or hologram fabrics or rhinestones appeal to you?
6) do you look for original looking, things that-no-one-else-has items?
i am a custom swimsuit maker in the cleveland, oh area, for bodybuilders, fitness/figure competitors. i have an EXTENSIVE fabric collection, including holograms, regular and sparkle stretch velvets, sparkle slinkies, stretch PVC and awesome prints. thanks for your input!
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
You should put this as a poll we can vote on
I'd wear all of them!

Yupyup i second emily!
Seraya.
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
For work? I like sequins best (any color), any bright, warm color (red, gold, pink, yellow), and stuff that glows under blacklights (white, neon). I try to stay away from hologram or tone-on-tone stretch fabric as it gets worn out too quickly, though it does look amazing at first!
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
I like dresses no one else has.
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
My favorite outfits are mini dresses. Not the mesh kind 'cause those never last. I like the ones in the thick stretchy material, like the kind of stuff swimsuits are made out of. Rhinestones are a plus, a matching thong is a double plus! Pastel or neon colors are my favorite.
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
I really love solid colours. I like to wear tight skirts sometimes close to the knee, with very high pumps, and a sexy see through white blouse.
A white bouse top works great with a black tight skirt, thigh highs, and the pumps. I really am into the black and white solids right now.
Always tight, and not stripes or other patterns.
With this outfit i pull my hair in a ponytail, and play up my lips. Looks ok.

Solid black mostly. Looks classy on my body.

Same here !!
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
I prefer solids but I've been wearing lots of prints lately. I like things that are original and stick w/ corals, yellows, oranges. But I've noticed the men love black and red, which to me is a chessy combo, but I'm not gonna fight the money!
I don't like sheer fabrics-feels like I'm showing everything for free, and only high quality Swarovski rhinestones if necessary
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
1) do you prefer clothes in solid colors or prints or both? Depends
2) what types of prints you you like - flames, florals, retro? Depends
3) do you like bright neon colors, plain black or white, neutrals or all of the above? Depends
4) do you like sheer meshes or opaque fabrics? Depends
5) do sparkly or hologram fabrics or rhinestones appeal to you? Depends
6) do you look for original looking, things that-no-one-else-has items? Depends
Hehehe
Ok seriously though:
1) do you prefer clothes in solid colors or prints or both? I prefer solids but mix and match items outfit pieces
2) what types of prints you you like - flames, florals, retro? print has to be something unique, not cheesy looking and not too frilly
3) do you like bright neon colors, plain black or white, neutrals or all of the above? Neutrals, blacks, warms, deep rich colors
4) do you like sheer meshes or opaque fabrics? both but do love my sheer mesh top
5) do sparkly or hologram fabrics or rhinestones appeal to you? accents can be nice but typically nothing too flashy- Balance balance balance
6) do you look for original looking, things that-no-one-else-has items?I love unique eccentric, mysterious items
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
I like long classy gowns. Although for shorter I prefer flared skirts since my butt looks funny in the tight ones. I also like support built in for my breasts. they look sad and pathetic with no support. I like black. but I look better in brighter colours, pinks, purples, green, white. And I don't want something that everyone else has.
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
I like outfits that do not cost me 40 times what you paid for the fabric. I am outright offended when same 40 x marked-up fabric was sewn into a tube dress, which takes less than five minutes.
I like fabrics that are actually washable, and I do mean hand washable. Nothing pisses me off more than buying a matched thong which turns out to be dry-clean only. How exactly am I supposed to explain my work thongs to the dry cleaner?
I like threads that don't pop and seams that don't burst. For the prices being charged, the outfit had better last for more than two bookings.
I love being able to special order. A coworker wears a fabulous panne velvet evening gown with a long black fringe- special ordered. *covets* The costume lady promised to never sell a similar dress (same material and cut). Now that's service.
Along the same lines, I don't like looking exactly the same as every other dancer in the town. If three other local dancers have the same outfit, then it is two too many.
I like it when accessories are offered in addition to outfits. Translation: I'll pay more. I don't like it when unique bikini sets (top and thong) are sold seperately from their "accessory"- a matching skirt. Especially when neither the bikini nor the skirt could possibly be worn with anything else.
I like it when the costume lady can be guaranteed to be in the club at a general hour (around 10PM'ish, for example) on the same day every week. Even if I wasn't on the schedule, I will go to work anyways on that day if I need something specific from the costume lady.
I like being able to haggle. Correction: I love being able to haggle. If you know that this dress hasn't sold in three months, and I know this dress hasn't sold in three months, then don't try to tell me that you can't go down in price because "two other girls at the next club are dying to have it". Considering that most handmade dancer costumes bring a 60-85% profit, a costumer can afford to give someone the occasional discount on a hard-to-move item.
As to the rest of it, color and fabric depend upon the area to which you are catering. In my area, any color or fabric that would be labeled as "gaudy" outside of the club should be reserved for the smaller, more casual clubs. And, in my opinion, gaudy fabric paired with an excess of rhinestones makes a dancer look like a drag queen. Everything else: just throw on a few rhinestones for effect, slit it up to there, promise to make minor alterations on the spot and it should sell like hotcakes. For every two dancers that don't fancy pink, there will be one who would kill for a pink velvet gown.

EXCELLENT Post LIlith!
I can't agree more about the seams :( I've had 3 outfits come unseamed... dancer outfits need to be durable and able to move in without riding up too... that's what i hate about my patent skirt it rides up :-/
Gaudy prints and colors... yuck :-P
I like mix n match outfits but not in the the top is the same as the skirt way... more in a this mesh top looks awesome with this black skirt or red top with black pants etc. all my fave outfits (the ones i'm not going to sell) are separates that look great together and very different, eccentric.
Price is a huge issue too... definitely agree with Lilith on that point...
And WASHABILITY... Why the heck would I want to run to the dry cleaner after every night dancing??? or spend the extra money to do that for that matter. I don't even own normal clothes that require dry cleaning except a suit jacket and I hate wearing it for that reason.
Hate it when the dress lady is supposed to show up... and I spend all night waiting for her to stop by so i can buy a new shoe to replace the one who's buckle broke :(. Or she shows up right before close...
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
I like kinda dominatrixy looking stuff for work-Red chinese dresses with latex stockings, Crazily cut outfits, black velvet with Rhinestones.
Outside, I wear all types of vintage. Not quite the flowy variety. I like the high-end thrift shops by my house, where you can get awesome deals. I found a pair of purple YSL sandals for 16 bux! Armani jacket for 12. I like to look urban and edgy when I am with friends. Again, slightly S&M-ish.
Re:POLL: what kind of clothing do you wear?
At work, right now I have: four black lace outfits, a minidress, a panel-skirt and lace up top, a top that has three ties down the front and on the sides of the thong - and finally a cami top and shorts. two vinyl corset-esques and thong items, one hot pink and the other black [the black zips down the front]. Then I bought a kind of camaflouge grey-n-white pants and tube top set from another girl. I don't let trying to get pants off on stage, never looks good.
when not at work I usually wear short skirts with different colored stockings, add a little variety to life. Though the boyfriend says when I wear green stockings and black miniskirt and top I look like the stripper-version Robin Hood. ;) if it's warm cute little tops, if cold long sleeves. Or peasant skirts, those are fun. It's pretty unusual I wear labels or such, unless it's a band I really like or a t-shirt I made.
