I believe in motivation in numbers. If u have a friend to go to the gym with it's good bc if your not looking forward to the working out part u can look forward to the conversation. Also i find that if i go to the gym in the morning or early afternoon i tend to have a longer more intense workout. Another good idea is to go out and buy some new running shoes or workout clothing. Then u'll feel like u have to wear them sometime and what's a better place to do so than the gym!!
Going with a friend is the best way but if you can't do that work it inot your schedule, I put my workouts in my day planner. I've also found that I feel better at work on the days that i go to the gym so I try to get my workouts in on the days I'm working.
I promise you this works....
put on your gym clothes and get out of the house.
You will go there. I think getting to the gym is the hardest part. When have you ever gone to the gym and just went right home?
Try a different form of excersice.....
There is a yoga center walking distance from my house, I just skip down the street, no traffic/parking hassle. And yoga is very calming, plus it helps flexibility....
I believe in habits. If you stick to it for 30 days straight, then it will become a habit for your body to exercise. Right now, it's hard to exercise because you are not used to it...however, after you exercise all the time, then you will not be used to NOT doing it. Go every single day...do some cardio one day, weights the next, and then do Yoga or Pilates. But, go every day...get your body used to going to the gym. Make it a habit, and then you will just be popping out of bed to hit the gym.
I used to always drive to my gym unintentionally. I would leave my house to go to the grocery store, and viola, I would find myself pulling into the parking lot of my gym...LOL. So, then I would exercise for a little while and stop at the store on the way home. That was before I had a baby, though...now it's not as easy to do it that way. LOL.
I agree with Susan go with a friend. And someone that dont just want to talk all the time. Cuts back on the exercising. If not. I think if you really want to reach a goal, it wouldnt be hard. You can do it. :great:
Go steady for at least 3 weeks and you will start to see results. That is when it became addicting for me.
So true..I go in the morning when I am running my errands..If I wait I won't go because things always pop up. You should also invest in excercise videos/dvd. I have Tae-bo and Windsor Pilates for those times when I just don't feel like being bothered with the gym. I can still get my daily workout in with out ever leaving my house.Quote:

Gym? what's a gym? ROFL... Thank God for skinny genes...
Don't have the spare money to go to the gym, but when I used to have a membership I never went. I had no one to go with and had endometriosis... the pain made me reluctant to do alot of activity at times...
But I would like to get consistent and good about doing my taebo and yoga videos...
I've found dancing helped me get into better shape than I've ever been. :-D my hubby's been loving my legs and my improving abs...
Sexy you're right dancing tones and increases your flexibility especially if you do alot of pole work and floor dancing.
squeeze your buns together while looking in the mirror.
buy new gym clothes.
Hey I feel super motivated. I am going to buy some new shoes and try out a few of my gyms classes. I think I will start leaving some clothes at the gym so I can just end up there like some of you do while I am running errands
Having a baby makes it way hard. There is always stuff to clean, or its nap time, or he's sick or something. Plus the homework!!!
NO MORE EXCUSES!! I am way to good at those.
I think for every dancer outfit I buy I will invest in the same amount of workout gear. That sounds like a good one to me.
Big thanks girlz!
Oh yeah, I do have home workout videos, but my living room is always covered in toys, and I always have homework to do.
Carmen Electra's new ones are cute, but the only one worth buying is the 2nd, fit to strip video. I bought the whole set and they are just simple little dance routines. Not a good workout. Not even sexy.
My new fav. videos are in The Firm series. They really know how to target certain areas and alternate between aerobic and strength training.
I would recommend any of the Firm and also Denise Austin's yoga and pilates. The stretches are wonderful when you are stressed out.
I want to try Winsor Pilates, but I am afraid to spend the money if they are going to be to simple for me.
I am going to get back into a routine, and maybe try twice a day like I saw recommended somewhere else on this board.
Gosh being sexy is hard work!!
Most gyms have child care and you can use that time in the gym as your me time. I forgot to mention using a cd walkman..I can not go to the gym with out mine !! Good luck MD and let us know of your progress !!Quote:

If you're worried about spending money on the Winsor Pilates tape, use kazaalite to download it first. I did--I have two different versions. I like them a lot but the problem is that, since they are on my computer and my computer is in my cramped little bedroom, I can't actually USE it--I'd have to buy the videos and use them in the living room. But anyway, just wanted to let you know that it definitely is out there on the net if you want to "try before you buy."
How much do you have to pay to download. ???
Well free if you steal it.lol Their trying to crack down on that kazaa stuff-it got me kinda scared :P Anyways I love windsor pilates. I watched a friend do the tape once while I was on the computer and it looked easy. BUT the next day I tried and and it kicked my ass! I loved it. It really helped me tone and stretch. Now if I could just stick with it is another thing. ;) I just signed my bf and I up for a great gym and we've only been 3 times this month. Bad I know...But I'm going to start it up again soon (perhaps after this weekend of work). I agree with MotherDaisy about buying the equivelent of gym/dancer clothes. I don't have anything to wear anymore and I relaized that IS a big factor for me. I have to go to the gym looking and feeling good about myself. So I'll hit up Target and TJ Max Monday. They always have the cutest and cheapest stuff.
Thanks for the internet tip, I will preview soon!!
I hit the gym early this morning and left the baby in their daycare. I had a good workout and need to remember to stay hydrated.
After reading the forum about the splits I decided I would work on perfecting mine. Boy did those men stare!! I love the gym! HeHe
SheDevil--you are lucky you have a boyfriend to go with. Get each other motivated or make a competition out of it. When he can lift a certain amount, he gets a certain sexual favor...you get the point. Or see who can run the hardest and longest.
I just love big sexy muscles on a guy!! I stay single on purpose, but what I wouldn't give for a big pair of tan, muscular arms wrapped around me right now....
