DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
Okay.. I gotta ask, because this is currently happening as I speak at the club I work at.... We've got a girl... who is new, she says she's danced before, however, she doesn't act like she's danced before (we all think she lied to get the job, but of course, we really aren't sure) This girl is WEIRD! She wears wigs, no one has seen her real hair before, she is about 5'4 and about (if I had to guess) 160, maybe a little less or more, I'm not good with guessing on people's weight.. but anyways, here's the scoop: She has a lot of flaws (cellulite, rolls etc) she'd be good if she'd take some advice that was given to her by a few of us "Nice" girls who do not wish anyone to fall or fail... but, she yelled at the D.J. from the stage the other day (big no no) then she got pissed off and walked off the stage because he didn't play the song she wanted.... so now, the D.J... announces her as simply by her stage name (usually, he'll say something like, and next on the stage, another beauty, get up here and show her some tlc.. this is (enter stage name), now, he simply says, "I'm gonna keep things rolling, here's (enter stage name) and then the worst dream of any dancer happens... STARK WHITE CRYSTAL CLEAR WHITE LIGHT instead of the nice darker blues, reds that hide all of our little imperfections... he says he's getting back at her for pissing him off... I want to say something to her, as when this happens, people leave the stage.... but on the side, I don't want to say anything cause I don't want to piss off my D.J.... so girls, and DJ's too you tell me.... is he being too mean?????
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
I hate to laugh... Her attitude sounds like it sucks and she knows nothing about kind persuasion or working with people. I say the dj could/perhaps should lay off a bit as it doesn't make the club look any better by putting a spotlight on their flaws. She has enough rope to hang her own job.
I had to laugh too cuz she sounds exactly like one of our dancers!
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
well from what i read the customers leaves when he does that simple means that he might be hurting the other girls earnings ....on making the club look bad ...i think the manager should pull her to the side and let her know what the deal is either she acts more immature or he has to let her go ...although you girls do not want to get on her wrong side i think you guys should still talk to her about what she is doing wrong sometimes a firstime dancer does not like to admit that its her first time dancing
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
There was a club in Queens that I went to audition at. I auditioned early so there was only 5 girl working. Classy club as well. The DJ was mean to one girl. After I came of the stage he called her name and told evertone that she was a ho. She was the prettiest girl there. I think he liked her a she probably turn him down. But that was very rude.
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
Hehehe...maybe Danielle finally went out and got a job??
Our DJ did that once to a girl for the same reason..except that management told him to do it....your DJ needs to cut that out and you should have the kindest and most diplomatic manager talk to her about her weight/attitude...etc...
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
There are 2 sides to every story. Of course the girl was pissed...how hard is it for a DJ to push a button and play a song off of a CD? It's hard being in the "mood" for one song and getting onstage to some other song. However, it IS a big no-no to yell at the DJ from across the stage. Not only does it cause drama...but, it makes the dancer look very uncouthe.
The DJ did nothing more than stoop to her level. If we want to get technical, he was already hurting her earnings by not playing the right song. But, the two of them are just involved in a tug-o-war over peanuts.
I would definitely pull her aside and remind her that the HOUSE rules are being respectful towards other employees and customers. If she starts whining about how he played the wrong song, then simply say, "Well, the customers don't know that. Just finish your set, and when you get off-stage, simply let him know that he did. He probably just made a mistake, he's human. But, by yelling at him across the stage, you will only do two things: up the chances that you will get fired, and piss the DJ off. Neither of which you want to do."
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
I agree with Venus you shouldnt have yell at a DJ. But some DJ's are jerk. You dont know if they had a problem before. And it seems like the girls have a problem with her weigh, how she hired into the club. And all the talking would go back to her. Why do you care how she looks. I think she just rebeling from hows she being treated.
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
I would stay out of the DJ's way and let him do whatever he does. The managers can deal with him if they see a problem. I don't usually try to socialize to much with the other girls, but maybe she doesn't even realize what she did wrong.
I always try to stay on the positive side when talking to people. If you are chatting with the DJ and her name comes up, point out that she is clueless and maybe he should tell her what he expects from her.
Try not to be negative about her weight, I have read several times on this sight that even if you are carrying a few extra pounds, dancing will give a girl some exercise and the push she needs to lose the weight.
Maybe this girl is not even weird, maybe she is just way clueless. Lead by example girl, or just ignore the whole thing.
But never never tell those big headed DJs how to do their job!
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
As a Dj (and a vindictive evil sonofabitch) I think he is going overboard...When a dancer yells at me from the stage I (being the supreme being that I am) usually ignore her or if the song she suggests is a good tune (sometimes the dancers can read the crowd better than I since I am perched up in the heavens and they are earthbound mortals) I play it. If it becomes a constant thing then i have several songs at my disposal to take my revenge with....the barney theme, techno smurfs, the partridge family etc...That glaring white light is a no no not only because it shows EVERY and I mean EVERY flaw on the human body (I actually think it shows future flaws as well) but it blinds the hell out of the customer, which may actually be why they are leaving...It sucks to drop a dollar and not be able to see the goodies...
Tell your dj to stop being a putz or all of his cds will turn into recordings of spermwhales gettin it on...

Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
Katrine :rotfl: LOL
I had to laugh at this because I think that if she is going to be pissy, I'd be the same way. He's the DJ, sometimes it gets busy, or he had a set of songs he was gonna play anyway.
She didnt have to yell from across the stage, this makes her look nastier than you described, plus kinda puts all dancers into that "demanding bitch" kind of stereotype.
Whats funny is, she could have just gone along with it, and talked to him after her set as well.
What do we dancers do when a customer is a jerk? We either give them a lousy dance, or get mean and nasty. The DJ was only doing the same. I guess he figured that since she was being a bitch, he would get even with her.
I am not condoning it but I think that as a human, he too, felt he should make her feel stupid for a moment.
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
three days later and the white light remains....
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
OMG Gynger really??? That IS a bit much :(
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
Woah... maybe the manager should talk to the chick and the DJ. Sounds like he may be putting the club's "abience" into question.
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
Three days is exessive. Now I hate girls yelling at me from stage(and its a no-no), but I always have a couple of quick replys(not nasty)that I say on the mic that make sure it wont happen again and usualy the girl appologizes, we all are supposed to get along and work as a team right? Some songs are just wrong for some times and some managers/owners don't want them in the club. BUT...as far as the "walking off the stage", that paints me,her, and the club in a bad light (pun intended). But there are more diplomatic ways of handling it.....such as changing the rotation and putting her between two of the most hot/best dancers I have. Or of course every DJs favorite, musical torture.
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
I HATE WHITE LIGHT!!!
ouch, but its so unprofessional to blatantly walk of the stage because you didnt like your song!
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
Well, Lelani quit yesterday.... the DJ won.
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
wow gynger, that sucks... :( Poor girl
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
I think the dj handled this situation poorly.
Re:DJ's Who get even with dancers.....
I say let her hang herself. She has to learn sometime.....
