Re:What is the intiial investment in $ to be a dancer?
Oh my goodness, I was supposed to go in and audition, when I first started out. I had these super clunky shoes and a regular bikini (that was too big!). When the manager saw the pathetic outfit, he told me to forget about the audition and that I had the job (very sweet man). I think I went out and bought some regular undies (oh gosh) and shoes. And I worked and made enough for a license. Then I was able to buy real live stripper clothes as I went along. Woo-hoo!
Re:What is the intiial investment in $ to be a dancer?
My expenses were higher because I started at a gown club and it was required to have not only the long dresses for gown reviews, but the proper shoes and other costumes as well. I also needed a license to legally work.
My expenses were approx--
Gown- $120
Shoes(2)- $140
Costumes- $200
License- $300
Thongs- $60
These are the expenses for the first week or so of dancing. But I probably could have done it a lot cheaper. I thought it was necessary to have 5 outfits right away when I could have gotten away with one. My fault, but I had a lot of fun shopping. :)
I also had tanning, nail salon, and hair maintenance costs, plus additional make-up and beauty products.

stripper boots:$70

one short dress: $40
license: $60
first night's house fees: $48
stripper g's and knee-high socks (two each): $50

I also paid a lot to start my job commuting to Houston because I had to buy a plane ticket, get a hotel at first, after a month I rented a room in a condo right next to the club. So I had first month's rent, deposit, and had to buy a bed.
I have a fully stocked makeup kit from when I worked as a makeup artist so I didn't need to buy any makeup.

Garter.
I used a gift voucher to a Lingere shop that I received from my Nan to buy something sexy. As for shoes, just some high heels I already had. Wasn't charged for the first night (thank goodness as I started the night after Sept 11)... I made some $$ tho' so subsequently gradually increased my wardrobe and finally bought some stripper shoes.

Thought I would bring this one back. I'm partial to it because I started it.
