How to establish a "LOOK"
???I dont know if this is an easy question but I was wondering what is the best way to make yourself younique as compared to other girls. Is there a certain style of clothing music etc. you should stick with? I like all kinda of clothes. But the thing is that is it ok to change a "look" or should it remain the same? How to start making a "look"???
Thanks Girls!!!! THis site is so helpful!!! :moped:
Re:How to establish a "LOOK"
Use your own personal likes/dislikes to establish a comfort zone in which to build your wardrobe and create a make-up style.
Think about celebrities you like, what is it about their style that draws you to them? --Try to do some "themed" outfits( police girl, firefighter, fairy, ecetra)--this always goes over well with the fellas.
Re:How to establish a "LOOK"
I think it's important to match your music to the crowd. Old guys like classic rock, cowboys and truckers like country (bleh) and young guys like hip-hop and alternative. DJ's really dislike it when a girl gets hung up on only one type of music I noticed, especially when it's rap.
As for a LOOK..it's best to choose your best feature and select your costumes around that feature. Like I don't buy expensive bra's or costumes that draw attention to my boobs since I'm kind of flat. Instead I play up my feet with toe rings and nice shoes. Or my legs with nice thigh-highs or my ass with bootie shorts. If you have a pretty face or a long slender neck use chokers.
I do tend to select a certain theme to all my costumes. Like right now I am doing all glowing bikini's with matching glowing shoes. I have a lot of DIFFERENT bikini's though but they all glow and match the shoes.
Another year it was monochromatic outfits: red shoes, red gloves, red choker and earings, red hair band, red dress, red thigh-highs. Each set I would change to another monochromatic costume: white everything or black everything.
I think it's important to have some feature that makes it easy for guys to know it's you. You don't want to look like an entirely different gal each set so that the customer has to squint to know if you're the girl he likes.
At the same time, you don't want to get bored with yourself. To combat that I have a couple of versions of each costume with the added benefit that I didn't have to do laundry all the time in order to have a complete costume. And if something goes missing or gets damaged I have a replacement.
Re:How to establish a "LOOK"
Also, a great way to change your look/make you stand out is to change your hair.
Add some chunks, get some highlights, go for a whole new color!
Look around at the club...if all the girls in the club are, say, brunettes, with blonde streaks (for example), go red! Go black! Go blonde! They'll be sure to remember you!
And, go to a beauty school to get your color done...I'm in beauty school right now, and I would ADORE the opportunity to help any of my dancing sisters out!
(Not currently a dancer. Rehabbing a bum ankle. If anyone wants to know what beauty school I'm at, PM or email me)
Re:How to establish a "LOOK"
Change your looks always! Guys like ladies who can look many different ways. Plus, you wont get boring to them with the same old clothes, hair, etc.
Also my biggest help was hitting woman's mags. I would look for certain women who favoured my body type, hair eyes etc. And shoot for her hair with curls at times straight, makeup, and clothing.
Glamour is a good mag. It takes the same women through many different styles to make her look sexy, captivating, girl next door etc.
Good Luck,
Pamela
Re:How to establish a "LOOK"
I wear all different outfits.. However I established my own style by only wearing White and nothing else.. and always thigh high white boots (different styles). I mostly dance to Madonna - which varys a great bit throughout her years. So if a Madonna song comes on, no matter wear my regulars are- they know to come to the stage! .. But if anyone comes in looking for me they know to look for the white or the boots.. its just my thing. I have been at my club for a while so the other girls have started to steer clear of my style and music. It makes me feel good. The white glows so I stand out. Like I am the "Angel" of the club! :-) Good luck.. let us all know what you decide to do.

VANILLA_DOG -- Thanks.. I knew my look was missing something! I need a white choker.. Thanks so much for that input- now I will feel complete! :-)
Re:How to establish a "LOOK"
Instead of just ONE look, try 3 main looks:
1. You can do something exotic with a Middle East/Indian flair: go to ethnic import shops and get a few jewlery pieces like hand and toe jewelry, bracelets, and jangly hip scarves, then dance to some of the stuff that uses Eastern rhythyms these days, like the song "Addictive" by Truth Hurts...this helps if you have an exotic look to you..
2. Heavy metal dominatrix, dance to Metallica, Megadeth, etc...wear lots of PVC vinyl, high boots, silver....
3. Latina....dance to Santana, or some other latin rock..wear a flower in your hair, lots of lace, frills, and red...
Those are some of my looks....hope we don't end up at the same club...hehehehe!
Re:How to establish a "LOOK"
Look around your club and see what the majority of girls are doing. Then do the exact opposite. Most girls at my club dance to hip hop and wear black or red or white. I dance to rock music and wear a lot of really bright colors and crazy pant sets.
You'll eventually find a place where your comfprtable and after you have been using the "look" for awhile it will just become "your look".
Re:How to establish a "LOOK"
While i agree with most postings here, what worked for me as a great $$$$ maker was watching the main dancers that banked most all the time. I would then copy them close enough, but with my own twist so i would not get accused of trying to be like them. Hell i was 21.
It worked! I dressed close enough to a certain dancer who kicked ass every night, and wore my hair almost like hers, but sexier because mine was very long, danced like her in alot of ways on stage, but with a different twist as well.
And became one hell of a pole dancer/grinder! On my own.
Copy close enough to the best dancer is a great tip. Then take over where she seems to fall short! Say customers she can't/wont spend too much time with! Lol.
Watch her attitude, she is friendly but confident, which can confuse people into thinking she is bitchy, but once a customer meets her, he is stunned! She is very friendly, but firm.
Good luck, i think you get the idea.
