In the state where I live (Oregon), dancers must be 21 or over to work in an alcohol-serving establishment. From what I've heard, it's 18 in most states. In Washington, strip clubs aren't allowed to serve alcohol AT ALL!
I wouldn't know how easy it is to lie about your age (I'm assuming you mean being under 21 or 18 and saying you are older so you can work in a particular club), I've never tried. I imagine most check ID. One could always try with a fake, though.
I am in Washington and yes you do have to be 18 and we don't serve alcohol, but you have to get a business license and they do check your ID.
In Vegas, all clubs serving alcohol, you now have to be 21. You have to get a sherriffs card there and, again, they will check the validity of your age.
In Chicago, you can be 18 to work in a non-liqour club. If they serve liqour, you must be 21. Most clubs don't fool around when it comes to verifying age (unless they are some shitty hole in the wall club). If they hire underage girls, then they will lose their club...they will usually "hire" you as a W-2 employee...reporting you to the IRS. Unless you have a fake social security number that goes along with the fake ID, you will be found out...eventually.
You can work in the Chicago burbs in a respectable liquor-serving club when you are 18. They just require you to wear a wristband at all times letting the bar staff know you're underage. I would guess there are clubs in other states with similar policies. But it all depends on the club. Just call them up and ask if you are interested in working.
In Reno, you can be 18 and work at any of the clubs (all serve alcohol). You just can't be near the bar. You need a business license and sherrif card so they will check your ID out and even do a background check so I think lying is out of the question.
I lied about my age four years ago. I didn't get caught because I didn't stay long. Lemme tell you, it was a shitty hole in the wall in New Orleams where they didn't CARE about underage girls. Manager made a very inappropriate proposition to me and treated me shitty.
Lying about your age gets you those places. In respectable places where you make more than at Walmart, you should be prepared for background checks.
Does anyone know if you need to be 21 in california to work at a club that has a full bar? ???
Thanks so much for your answers!
well......tonight i went with my friend to a different club in town. She decided she wanted to waitress, we are 19 and the club serves alcohol, and they asked for id before they would give her the app.
I was 20 when I started dancing (still am), so it wasn't an issue of lying, and I looked older than that, but my club never asked me for any identification at all. It was a club in Massachusetts.
